i've mentioned in a few past posts about an au where Danny is a variant of Jason Todd. I haven't made a post about it yet because I need a good rhythm flowing however i've been listening to Gladiator by Jann and I have been having thoughts.
but first, let me set the au:
Danny Fenton is Jason Todd, or at least, a variant of him. A him from a universe separate to the major Batman timeline - but still Jason Todd, down to the structure of his face and his name itself. The only thing that changes, is who picks him up - and, that he follows old Batman canon, and was an orphan. Jason Todd steals the tires off the batmobile and wallops Batman with his tirejack, and then runs off. Shortly after, he gets picked up by the Fentons.

Meeting Danny was strange.
When Jason heard that a younger and alternate dimensional Dick, Bruce and himself appeared he had been … well… he wasn’t sure what words to use to describe the emotions, but he knew he wanted a younger Bruce to see what his crusade had turned him into. He hoped seeing him would someone save his younger self.
Then he learned how different the alternate dimension was. A world where ideas that only crossed his mind when he was at his lowest, was a reality.
A world where Jason Todd was never adopted by Bruce Wayne.
This younger version of him, Danny, was so different from him.
Danny had never set foot in Wayne Manor.
Danny had never been Robin.
Danny had never experienced the things that broke him.
Danny was practically the embodiment of all the what ifs he thought of when the pits kept him up at night. Jason had imagined what living the life Danny lived so many times.

He couldn’t meet Danny.
Not yet.
Reality was never as good as fantasy.
A part of Jason was afraid of what he would find.
Was Danny the happy, well adjusted kid Jason always imagined he could be?
Or was Danny just like him.
Jason didn’t want to know the answer.

Jason hadn’t really planned on meeting Danny this way. Just randomly running into each other in one of the various libraries that littered stately Wayne Manor. Perhaps Jason should have expected to see Danny in this particular section, probably for the same reason he was.
Danny looked just like him at age thirteen and sported Robin varsity jacket of all things. The irony almost made him laugh, even in a world where Jason wasn’t Robin, he still carried the symbol.
Danny seemed almost afraid of him, Jason probably would have been too if he was faced with his future self.
Jason admits he hoped he wouldn’t run into Danny.
Danny offers to leave. Danny has the same meek look on his face Jason had whenever his dad came home after a job gone wrong. The idea that Jason could be the cause of such a look made him throw up a little. The only reason Danny couldn’t tell how badly Jason was affected was his expertly crafted poker face.
Jason tells Danny he doesn’t need to do that, they both came here to read.

Jason isn’t quite sure which one of them started the conversation but soon they are lounging in the library comparing lives, sans the secret identity of course. Everything was basically the same till they stole the batmobiles tires, that’s when their lives really split.
Shortly after the botched heist Danny was picked up by the Fenton family, or rather, Danny was adopted by the Fentons daughter, Jazz, who convinced them to take Danny in.
Jason had always wanted an older sister.
The Fenton’s were ectobiologists who studied the dead, Jason couldn’t contain a dry chuckle of irony at that discovery. A zombie in one world and the son of ghost hunters in the other. It was like the universe was mocking him.
Jason could feel Danny staring at the white locke that marred his hair. He could practically taste the questions on the tip of Danny’s tongue. He was glad to see their shared street smarts didn’t fail Danny as he held his tongue., asking the wrong person about their appearance could get you killed on the streets.
Jason himself was a guilty of staring as well so he couldn’t hold it against Danny. Jason could barely take his eyes on the lightning like scars that traveled from Danny’s left hand, all the way up to his face.
Jason didn’t know why but the scar made him feel uneasy. Perhaps it was because the idea of a child having a scar like that simply raised his heckles. Perhaps it was the suspicion that Danny’s parents could have been the cause. Perhaps it was the fact that for a split second the scar seemed glow a hauntingly familiar shade of green when their hands brushed against each other earlier.
Meeting Danny had been strange. It left Jason with more questions than answers and a feeling that the pits would always haunt him in some form or another, no matter what world he was in.
I'm confused on whether Danny had already died or not, cuz the other implies he hadn't and the other add-on did.
But tbh, I think it would be better if he did die earlier. Cuz we can add so much angst on that.

one of the best pieces of advice I've ever heard (for myself, at least) is that if you're in a terrible mood and NOTHING is helping, then start doing the chores/responsibilities/job stuff/etc that you've been putting off. Will it put you in an even worse mood temporarily? Probably, but you're already pissed off, so you might as well double up on it at that point 😭 there's no loss. It's not like finally getting around to cleaning the house and scheduling appointments is going to ruin the good day that you aren't currently having to begin with 💀 And then, when the bad mood passes, you'll have gotten shit done and you'll feel a lot better later, even if in the moment you're having The Worst Time Ever about it.

Fun little math trick I find really helpful: the ratio of a mile to a kilometer is within 1% of the Golden Ratio. That means that if you have a good memory for Fibonacci numbers (1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 55 89) you can convert pretty accurately by taking consecutive Fibonacci numbers.
For example, 89 kilometers is really close to 55 miles (55.3). Or, say you need to convert 26 miles to kilometers: 26 can be written as 21 plus 5, so taking the next Fibonacci number up gives 34 and 8, meaning it should be around 42 kilometers. Sure enough, it's 41.8 km!

may be a hot take but i think the fact minors can access 18+ content by just clicking a button that says 'yes im totally over 18 trust me' is like. totally fine tbh. its a non-issue. i dont care if curious teenagers are looking at porn. they've been doing that for as long as porn has existed. id rather teens explore their sexuality through images on the internet than rush into real life experiences when they're not ready for it yknow. the UK is trying to put stricter age verification in place (which in turn is becoming an online privacy nightmare) and like. for what. who is it helping. why is this a problem.

When I was a kid, Power Rangers got banned at school because we all thought it was incredibly cool and kept trying to kick each other in the head. No-one bothered explaining "Those are trained actors and it's all practiced, they don't *actually* hurt each other, and you're not good at that yet", they just banned it.
So we went to the park after school and read Kim's smuggled copy of the Power Rangers magazine and kicked each other in the head there instead.
(This is a metaphor, but it's also literally true. So much kicking in the head.)

A year or so ago I went to wood carving club with a bruised eye from my dog slamming his nose into my eyesocket and like every old lady there pulled me aside at some point to ask if my partner hit me here are some of the solutions they had in case he did.
-Replacing his vitimens with poision
- getting her brother to invite him out onto his boat and then killing him and dumping him in the ocean and saying he got drunk and fell off.
- get tboned with him in the passenger seat and then once he was in the hospital theres all kinds of easy ways to kill him like not washing my hands after a poop and then touching his wound casually.
-replacing his drink of choice with moonshine!?
- take him on a hike thats locally notorious for a rapid otter attacking hikers and once he had rabies I could just kill him any ol way and say self defense.

NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ‘no’ and ‘OTP’ and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one person’s kink may be another person’s squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And That’s Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Don’t Like, Don’t Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A “live and let live” philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesn’t want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creator’s.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individual’s personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
