med people are so annoying "This family's 8 year old child who was about to go through a major surgery and kept crying that she was hungry so they pitied her and gave her food, she then had a heart attack in the surgery. They're so stupid 😒" girl they didn't know that could happen or why it happens. it takes so little time to explain to them that will happen instead of telling them "no food" with no explanation 10 times

I have four kids. I’ve had one or another of them need some kind of surgical procedure that requires anesthesia four or five times over the past 15 years.

This Tumblr post is the first time someone has explained to me *why* I couldn’t feed them before those instances.

I’m not stupid. I understood that just fine. Hell, my kids would have understood that just fine. But no one bothered to tell us.

i did know this before having kids (i have six). we have a kid that's needed multiple procedures requiring anesthesia. and every single time, i am asked multiple times if i'm sure he was not given any food or water after a certain point.

every single time i have had to say, "i understand that if he had food or water, he could aspirate it into his lungs under anesthesia. i am not lying to you." THEN someone would make a little note and i would stop being repeatedly asked.

not a single time was that risk explained to me. the only reason it came up was because i already knew. i still don't understand why it isn't standard pre-op counseling or pre-op check information, when me as a parent acknowledging the actual risk also put THE MEDICAL STAFF at ease because i conveyed that i had informed understanding as reason to not lie about giving my kid food.

"maybe some people will get nervous and refuse surgery" okay so they need more counseling about risks and anxiety, not less information in a way that actually does endanger their child or themselves!

HEAR ME OUT. i imagine him to be a bit hyperopic because stereotypical studious scholar amirite! + because why not make his human life filled with torment harder. him and his family very likely couldn’t afford to invest in the spectacles of the time (or reading stones?). he’d spend his days helping his family make ends meet and nights squinting under the moonlight/candlelight to prepare for the national exam. imagine all the eye strain and headaches. perhaps he’d try to figure out a way to make things easier for himself because what is he xuan if not resourceful? him trying to use droplets of water to magnify texts maybe? wonder how he’d do so without damaging the very expensive scrolls though. or maybe he messes around with reflections that appear larger against shiny stones? but despite it all, he xuan excelled in his literacy due to his sheer dedication and desperation to help his loved ones. poor thing T_T i also like the idea because scary fish ghost king looking pretty in (grandpa) glasses working hard studying (how to bring demise to his enemies) .. or perhaps a MONOCLE LOL with a gold chain to match his eyes! 🤤 it’d suit him!!!!! haha now i’m imagining a silly scenario where hc somehow manages to break them (who knows how, some dumb “accident”) hc very much shows no remorse for it whatsoever but hx finds a sophisticated red wooden box with a very elegant (a bit gaudy) pair of spectacles in his home later that week. i meant to only send the first line but my brain worms got me.. 😞 there are too many thoughts in this little head of mine with nowhere to go..

We don't talk enough about how Wuming knew what was actually happening during the brief calamity arc.

Wuming saw it all as a ghost flame, not just the torment and torture, but also saw BWX hug Xie Lian after a loved one betrayed him, heard BWX's offers to be a mentor and his promise that he was the only person who would be by Xie Lian's side. So what do you think went through Wuming's head when he saw XL using the same mask as the calamity and wielding the same sword that man used to torture him?

Xie Lian was not just reacting to the suffering. There was a powerful person with the clear intention of manipulating him and Wuming knew this. This is why I don't see the wuming era as just HC being a simp and following Xie Lian Even if he's evil. It's more so trying to do your best to help a loved one whose behavior is being influenced by a malicious actor, like in an abusive relationship or a cult.
