Rest in Peace, Sam Neill (Sep. 14, 1947 - Jul. 13, 2026)
The pool is almost empty.
Leandro Erlichâs Swimming Pool creates the illusion of people standing underwater â but only a thin layer of real water sits above a transparent glass surface.
Below it, visitors walk through a dry chamber, while people above see them as if they are submerged.
The work turns a simple architectural element into a visual trick: Surface becomes depth, and the ordinary becomes impossible.

Well, that was quite the adventure to wrap up 'Season One' on. I'll be taking a break to think up some storylines as I play through the Underdark sections of the game now.
I hope you are all enjoying this comic series so far and a big thank-you for all the likes and comments.
I donât mean to offend anyoneâeveryone is free to appreciate what they like. But the comparison comes naturally when I talk about my preferences and what I enjoy in the vampire spawn path rather than the ascendant vampire one.
As I already mentioned in another post, by becoming a full vampireâor rather, a new and 'improved' one-of-a-kind vampireâAstarion, in my opinion, fully embraces his monstrous side and lets go of the remaining human traits in him. So, his way of loving Tav/Durge becomes that of an ascendant vampire, lacking some of the qualities weâre used to in typical relationships. And thatâs precisely what I love about the vampire spawn pathâthe idea of reclaiming life, reconnecting with others, and seeking out all those aspects that once characterized his existence as just another elf (with the necessary exceptions, of courseâheâs still a sneaky bloodsucker xD).
Iâve noticed, for example, that Ascendant Astarion has a very strong sense of protection toward Tav/Durge, his vampire spawn. He feels almost obligated to keep Tav/Durge safeâitâs his responsibility. I wonder if he does it as a creator or as a lover. After all, the player completely surrenders to him, gives him everythingâeven their own life. (Their life, for fuckâs sake! In the end, the ascendant vampire kills Tav/Durgeâhe takes their life. Sure, he gives them another one, but that doesnât change the fact that he takes it. And thatâs another thing I personally find unacceptable because I fight every day to live. I want to live. My life is everythingâitâs precious. The idea of someone taking it from me, just for the sake of control, is unthinkable. Especially when you should love me unconditionally, for who I am and not for who you want me to be. Of course, in an evil playthrough, it makes sense for Tav/Durge to want to become a vampire, but it's not mandatory. And the fact that the relationship can't continue otherwise is a red flag for meâone that I don't even think has to do with Ascendant Astarion's fear of losing Tav/Durge. After all, if they refuse the transformation, he is the one who ends the relationship and "loses" them. But of course, I'm rambling).
Anyway, back to the pointâthere are even moments where the ascendant vampire reinforces this concept, such as during the second encounter with Araj Oblodra. There, he explicitly states that he will protect Tav/Durge if necessary. Now, I absolutely understand the appeal of this scenario. Really, it seems incredibly romantic. ButâŠ
âŠitâs a concept that hits close to home for me, because of my family history. The responsibility to protect someone belongs to parents. Parents have a duty to protect their children. A fully grown, well-adjusted adult doesnât need protection, nor should they seek it from someone elseâespecially not from their partner. I say this resonates with me because, at one time, I expected this from my husband. But in doing so, I placed a responsibility on him that wasnât actually his. I burdened him with a role that wasnât his to carry. I had to work through this, understand the mechanism, trace it back to its origin, and dismantle it as best I couldârestoring our relationship to the right balance. One of equality. Because automatically, the one being protected is subordinated to the protector.
Now, this doesnât mean we shouldnât support or stand by each other when needed, of course! The point is that it should be a mutual responsibility, not a one-sided one. And that ties directly back to vampire spawn Astarion, who, the morning after the graveyard scene, explicitly talks about thisâabout being equal partners. Same rights, same responsibilities. And how, among the various dialogue choices, the developers inserted a little trap: âIâll always keep you safe so youâll never need the powers of an ascendant vampire.â Sneaky! I hate that line! Just as spawn Astarion hates itâand rightfully so! If we are equals, if we are true partners, then you should not act as my protector. You should simply stand by my side, damn it! Spawn Astarion is perfectly capable of defending himselfâheâs not weak, not small, and most importantly, heâs not a child. He is an adult reclaiming all his rights as an adult. He doesnât need a babysitter.
Just like I, as a player, donât need one. And maybe, because of my personal experience, thatâs why I donât find it appealing or romantic that Ascendant Astarion wants to protect me. I donât need it. I function just fine on my own. I am perfectly capable of defending myself. I worked hard to regain that right and that freedom.
By the way, Iâd also love to remind Ascendant Astarion that he didnât end up in that position by chance. I was the one who guided him there throughout the game. All the more reason he should know that I donât need protectingâI can kick ass just fine on my own.
Truncated text of tweet from MrPitBull, Mar 11, 2026:
She kept finding women in laboratory photographs from the 1800s. Then she read the published papersâand every single woman had vanished. Someone had erased them from history.
Yale University, 1969.
Margaret Rossiter was a graduate student studying the history of science. She was one of very few women in her program.
Every Friday afternoon, students and faculty gathered for beers and informal conversation. One week, Margaret asked a simple question: "Were there ever any women scientists?"
The faculty answered firmly: No.
Someone mentioned Marie Curie. The group dismissed itâher husband Pierre really deserved the credit.
Margaret didn't argue. But she also didn't believe them.
So she started looking.
She found a reference book called "American Men of Science"âessentially a Who's Who of scientific achievement. Despite the title, she was shocked to discover it contained entries about women. Botanists trained at Wellesley. Geologists from Vermont.
There were names. There were credentials. There were careers.
The professors had been wrong.
But Margaret's discovery was just the beginning. Because as she dug deeper into archives across the country, she found something far more disturbing.
Photograph after photograph showed women standing at laboratory benches, working with equipment, listed on research teams.
But when she read the published papers, the award citations, the official historiesâthose same women had disappeared. Their names were missing. Their contributions erased.
It wasn't random. It was systematic.
Women who designed experiments watched male colleagues publish results without giving them credit. Women whose discoveries were assigned to supervisors. Women listed in acknowledgments instead of as authors. Women passed over for awards that went to male collaborators who contributed far less.
Margaret realized she was witnessing a pattern that stretched across centuries.
Women had always been present in science. The record had simply pushed them aside.
She needed a name for what she was documenting.
In the early 1990s, she found it in the work of Matilda Joslyn Gageâa 19th-century suffragist who had written about this exact phenomenon in 1870.
In 1993, Margaret published a paper formally naming it: The Matilda Effect.
The term captured something that had been hidden in plain sight for generations. Once you knew the term, you saw it everywhere.
Her dissertation became a lifelong mission.
For more than 30 years, Margaret researched and wrote her landmark three-volume series: Women Scientists in America. She examined letters, institutional policies, individual careers. She gathered undeniable evidence that women in science had been consistently under-credited and structurally excluded.
Her work faced resistance. Many dismissed women's history as political rather than academic. Others insisted she was exaggerating.
Margaret didn't argue emotionally. She presented data. Documented cases. Patterns repeated across decades and institutions.
Eventually, the evidence became undeniable.
Her research helped restore recognition to scientists who had been erased:
Rosalind Franklin, whose X-ray work revealed DNA's structureâcredit went to Watson and Crick.
Lise Meitner, who explained nuclear fissionâomitted from the Nobel Prize.
Nettie Stevens, who discovered sex chromosomesâreceived little credit.
Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin, who discovered stars are made of hydrogenâinitially dismissed.
And countless others whose names had nearly vanished.
Margaret changed the narrative. Science was no longer just the story of solitary male geniuses. It became a story of collaboration that included women who had been written out.
The Matilda Effect became standard terminology. Scholars used it to examine how credit is assigned, how authors are listed, who receives awards, who gets left out.
been having BG3 thoughts again (it's like all my interests are spinning around in my brain and I randomly pick one to fixate on)
I was thinking about what it would be like to be Halsin's partner. whether that be romantic or sexual or even just like his roommate. And I think it would be really nice! but I have thoughts.
Does he sleep in bear form? Does he snore?
Can you cuddle up to him while he's a bear? I want to do that. I want to cuddle up into that soft fur and take a nap.
I know in game and in a lot of fanart Halsin is drawn with like muscles and a six pack. but what if he was chubby? I want a Halsin with a lil bit of chub. he's a BEAR. let him be hairy and chubby. please.
Halsin seems so understanding and supportive of like everyone's identity. Give me a QPR Halsin. give me a relationship that isn't romantic or sexual but a secret third thing. A Halsin who loves you and you love him but in your own way and not the traditional way. But he still loves you and adores you and calls you "my heart". I WANT THAT
I don't know y'all I just really like Halsin
He's so proud of himself <3

I reblogged this yesterday, but I want to reblog it again. Diabetic ketoacidosis turns your blood acidic and will essentially burn you from the inside out.
The stories you hear of people dying from rationing, this is what happens to their body.
Affordable insulin isnât just a right, itâs a necessity.
No one should have to die like that when itâs preventable with access to proper medication.
"Affordable" should be the lowest fucking bar. Pharmaceutical companies should be tripping over themselves to offer insulin at "affordable". That shit deserves to be fucking free

A little story: This is a milestone when comes to my art. If you're familiar with my artistic output you very much know that all of my works - I don't even count isolated exceptations over the course of more than decade - are depiction of individual animals, occassionally pairs or groups, with or without decorative elements.
No scenes - interior or exterior - no environments at all. No history behind the artwork other than history that pet owners has in their hearts related to their relationship with the beloved pet.
As long as it's nothing wrong with that and I really enjoy drawing pets as well as I'm honored when a owner came to me to make a memorable artwork of their deceased pet, I really wanted to do something more for a very long time. I wanted to tell a story, and I wanted to make a personal art. Because believe it or not, I'm not making personal art for a couple of years already and it's just insane.
So here's one.
The ghosty cat is drawn in memory of my beloved Mr. Cat, who passed away back in 2022.
