Old animation I did for school!
Tell me about the courage of the Heroes, and Iāll tell you mine.
I see courage in the hero of Sky. Courage to be a fledgling who tempers oneself out of love. To endeavor through the trials of gods for the smallest, fleeting mortal moments that make life worthwhile. And to be the one who begins an endless divine burden, yet let go of their spirit with full faith that it will prevail. And it will be unbreakable.
I see courage in the hero of Legend. Courage to keep the never-ending wheel turning with eager feet despite the weariness of this manās road. Because this road, and the horizon ahead, too, are always yours to take. To say hellos and farewells with all of your bleeding heart, and to hold the memories of your beloved like the greatest treasure.
I see courage in the hero of Four Swords. Courage to search the depths of your innermost self and know that no shadow ever tarnishes your light. To be willing to march into the realm of the heavens on a path set aflame, trusting that like your sword, you can be reforged with the help of strangers whom you made kin by reaching out to them.
I see courage in the hero of Winds. Courage to stand before the temples of almighty gods and demand that they believe in your peopleās future. Courage to endure bitter storms and remain sweet and earnest, like the winds that keep forests green and ships arriving home. To keep the fearlessness of a child because childlike wonder should never again be mistaken for weakness.
I see courage in the hero of Time. Courage to be patient with your pain, because time does heal, even if it takes more than just a while. To carry the memories and dreams of others, many taken from your life through distance, dispute, and death, as you keep journeying in search of home. And to finally build one when you bravely let others in.
I see courage in the hero of Warriors. Courage to not harden your heart, but let hardship soften you with humility. To accept that victories are shared, and that you need company to watch your back. To forgive even the unforgivable, because you dare to recognize a friend in every foe, and to remain unshakeable in the belief that no one deserves a fate of wandering the battlefield, and life itself, alone.
I see courage in the hero of Twilight. Courage to face the unknown, filled with darkness and strangers, and learn to share with them a cup of kindness. To live among differences that make the world more beautiful, and to know that courage is measured by the strength of oneās heart, not the shape of their ears or the strangeness of their bodies. To believe that one may stare into the abyss, and that she may smile back kindly, softly.
I see courage in the hero of Hyrule. Courage to embark on an adventure for oneself, but rise for others. To see the bloom of life in what others call ruins. To build yourself up from the wisdom of kind others, because that is what makes the dangers of your quest less treacherous. To keep an oath of never giving up, but never let it become too heavy a load. To keep your heart light so you can walk with a spring and wingtips.
I see courage in the hero of the Wild. Courage to explore what was once forgotten, to unearth weary secrets and rediscover your purpose, not out of repentance, but out of regained freedom. To see love and resilience in people, places, and all sorts of things. To know that a once-fallen star may find its place among the earthly order again. That everything can begin anew, and that one, or even many, defeats are nothing so long as you keep breathing.
Work is strangling the hell out of me, but Iām being sentimental again. So here we are. This isnāt just my own thought, but an accumulation of all the warm and wise comments Iāve received from kind folks in the fandom. I love talking about the Links. What they embody. What they mean to people who draw strength from these little guysā stories. They represent courage in very similar ways: the courage to be kind, to forgive, and to try again, because they believe in the goodness that exists in the world and in peopleās hearts. So I try to find slight differences in their thematic stories that showcase their individuality. How each one embodies courage in their own way.
My gratitude lies in the kaleidoscopic beauty that courage can manifest.
Anyway, salutations, and happy belated New Year :)
Happy Appreciate-a-Dragon-Day to Hulwen and Hulwen alone.
I love Frankensteining one piece of work back into itself. Putting paragraphs in different chapters, moving sentences around, gotta be my favorite activity
And bonus it doesnāt take as much writing as starting over
My only hope for the school year is that all my teachers have up to date syllabuses
I know some fic writers get stressed about writing tropes they think are too popular or overdone, and I need you all to know that I just spent 4 hours reading every iteration of the same exact fic plot I could find, and they all brought me an indescribable amount of joy. Here's the official US government resource to check if you or anyone you know might have fallen prey to this kind of scam:

(Many states periodically purge their voter rolls without warning, so even if you're an active voter whose information hasn't changed, it's a good idea to double-check your voter registration status every so often in the months leading up to an election.)
Here's how you can register to vote, even if you're currently living outside the US, lack a permanent address, or are a minor who will turn 18 by the date of the general election:
Use vote.gov to register to vote in federal, state, and local elections. If youāre a U.S. citizen living abroad, see how you can register an

Let's also hope someone at the DOJ has taken notice of this, because āSection 20511(2) [of Title 52, which is part of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993] provides criminal penalties for a person who āknowingly and willfully deprives, defrauds, or attempts to deprive or defraud the residents of a State of a fair and impartially conducted election processā through fraudulent voter registration applications or ballots.ā (PDF source)
I've said this before and I'll say it again: it's more important to know and understand fully why something is harmful than it is to drop everything deemed problematic. It's performative and does nothing. People wonder why nobody has critical thinking skills and this is part of it because no one knows how to simousltansly critique and consume media. You need to use discernment.
This is ultimately why propaganda is going to work on you. Because you never learned how to think for yourself and the actual ideology behind things. You simply rely on group think and the bare minimum explanations to tell you what's good and bad.

My mom burnt the crap out of her sandwich in the oven and set off the smoke alarm, and not even 10 minutes later a big ass branch fell off a tree in the backyard. Love this place

"Kamala Harris raised 50+ million dollars after Biden dropped out!" you fools.... that's the money she got from selling Biden to One Direction :(
I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.
Iāve read some things that deal in sad/dark/actually depressing and disturbing subject matter. Iāve loved them and the points they make without endorsing the events portrayed.
Itās always disappointing to get online and see that the conversation is āX thing shouldnāt existā on the grounds that it made somebody feel badly. It was meant to make you feel that way and itās normal that it did - itās okay that you stop reading it or donāt finish it but I am BEGGING you to consider why it made you uncomfortable and why the author felt the need (if the answer isnāt immediately obvious, as it can be). There isnāt shame in something putting you off so badly that you shelve it.
The sterilization of reality is a detriment to all who exist within it. To censor stories with painful themes is to erase the reality that such stories are based in some horrific truth and works to erase the reality that many people have endured.
This trend or whatever we want to call it has gotten so bad that I listened to an entire lecture from somebody about how awful a book was and how it shouldnāt exist at all, how the author was a terrible person for concocting it and how it hurt people. When I asked what the book was, this person not only could barely recall the name but HAD NEVER READ IT. I bought the book. I read the book. It accomplished its task beautifully and I found it to be a cathartic experience. I also understood how it could make people so uncomfortable and would never judge anybody for setting it down.
Itās okay not to like something and distance yourself from it. Remember that those rules apply only to you, though, because they speak only to your own psyche.
Periodic reminder that one of the many roles of fiction is microdosing on big scary feelings so you build resilience, empathy, understanding, and defense against the real thing.
āGenerically medievalā, by which we mean our peerage is French, our castles are German, our weapons are Italian, and everybody speaks English.
you can have religion in one of 2 flavors: āwoo hoo aesthetic garnishā and āSinister State Control in Bad Allegory for Problems in Modern Christianityā
Also, the latter is aesthetically French Catholic, theologically German Protestant, and has the institutional structure of the Church of Scientology.
not to mention that this land is simultaneously inhabited by thinly modified northern vikings (Nordic pre-medieval/9th century), travelling mongols (European medieval/13th century) and a wealthy italian merchant family with a house full of oil paintings (Southern European renaissance/15th century). the dance of the day is waltz (refined German 18th century country dance).
But it will only actually be called inaccurate if an adaptation chooses to add a Black person.
