I’m noticing an increase in new fic writers on AO3 who…uh…mayy not know how to format their fics correctly..so here is a quick and VERY important tip

Using a random fic of mine as example..

Idk how many times I’ve read a good fic summary and been so excited to read before clicking on it and being met with an ugly wall of text. When I see a huge text brick with zero full line breaks my eyes blur and I just siiiigh bc either I click out immediately or I grin and bear it…it’s insufferable!

If a new character speaks, you need a line break. If you notice a paragraph is becoming too large, go ahead and make a line break and/or maybe reconfigure the paragraph to flow better. I’m not a pro writer or even a huge fic writer but…please…ty…

I think I figured out why this happens!

AO3's posting form has two modes: Rich Text and HTML. the vast majority of people write in Rich Text editors, aka any normal word processing software (MS Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages, what have you). but when you first open it, the posting form opens in HTML view. if you paste formatted text into HTML view, it erases every piece of formatting, including paragraph spacing.

this is an easy fix. when you go to post your fic, make sure the posting form looks like this:

and please spread the word! this is an important piece of computer literacy that nobody is teaching to the new generations and they deserve to know

While I adore the widely accepted notion that Sire and Carrier are gender neutral equivalents to a mother and father in Cybertronian society, I also feel like the concept of robo reproduction and the typical nuclear familial structure makes them too culturally human to be a robotic alien race.

I raise you this concept:

In Cybertronian society, the typical way a sparkling is raised is with the ‘It Takes a Village’ mentality. Since bots all come from hotspots and have no biological attachments like humans, it’s typically the group of grown bots that are most commonly in contact with a sparkling that raises them. These bots, however many there are, are considered ‘Sires’.

And a bitlet can have a LOT of Sires.

The easiest way to translate the term Sire into a human term would be ‘uncle/auntie’ but also simultaneously ‘mother/father’ as well as an honorific similar to ‘sir/ma’am’ with a deeper emotional connotation. A sparkling will differentiate the bots that helped raise them from others who didn’t by calling them ‘Sire (YourNameHere)’ or just ‘Sire’.

Now, Carriers. Carriers are comparatively much rarer and it’s entirely possible that a sparkling has no one they consider to be their Carrier. A Carrier is often one individual in particular who formed a particularly deep emotional connection with the sparkling and is the person the sparkling holds in the highest regard.

Carrier can be (very) roughly translated as ‘Mother/Father’ as well as ‘Mentor/Guardian/Caretaker’ and is called as such because they have, both literally and metaphorically, carried the sparkling with them in their life. Their bitlet is as much a part of their life as they have been in the bitlet’s.

An example of this social structure can be seen with Bumblebee.

He has Elita, Jazz, Moonracer, Chromia, Ironhide, and Ratchet who he refers to as Sires, but Optimus is his one and only Carrier.

I know a lot of ppl like the idea of Primus, some primes and even the guiding hand being neutral in the autobot-decepticon war but i think it would be far more intresting if a lot of them, both good guys and even some bad guys, chose Autobots because of their ideology of equality, kindness and strenght trough gentleness.

They also DIDNT choose decepticons because of their destruction of cybertron. If we go with "Primus is Cybertron" Then he's basicaly their mother nature and damadging the planet directly hurts him, even kills him.

I would like to see an evil Megatronus (im tired of that trope BUT i have this idea) or Liege Maximo or some other evil prime that only uses decepticons while they're on earth. He wants to use earth to revive cybertron but at some point he turns on them, revealing if he is to kill any bots, they will be first because of what they did to his god creator and father - Primus. Maybe he's even the one to CONFIRM that Primus exists and us in fact cybertron. Thats how decepticons learn they are, for the first time, one that were decieved and they have no one to blame but themselves.

This can give autobots a chance to ally themselves with the fallen prime by promiwing they can find a way to fix their planet. Either Ratchet's synthetic energon from tfp or maybe the Fallen was not aware the matrix is in Optimus's hands (chest actualy) or at least didnt know Optimus was chosen BY Primus as the first real Prime after the 13 originals and thought autobots stole the matrix for themselves (and so Thought they were not much better than decepticons).

The thing that the people who get mad about Nienna defending Melkor and other bad people don't understand is that, being the Lady of Mercy, she is quite literally the public defender archangel. She was created and designed to be able to have empathy for literally everyone in existence, so that no one is ever alone without anyone to speak for them.

And for those who get mad at public defenders and defense attorneys I will also point out that it's absolutely vital for having a state under the rule of law that respects human rights and is not run on the whims and good (or ill) will of those in power that even the worst person imaginable has someone defending them in court.

Similarly, it is vital that someone like Nienna exists. You can probably see now why her close connection to Námo is not a coincidence - he needs her. And why she is counted among the Aratar.

She'll sew you lots of things, like plushies and outfits and bibs

Lots of black and white for you, and lots of stripes

But of course red and purple too

Since she has full access to the prize counter, you get any toy you want from there

I tend to view her having a little bit of space under the box, kind of like in the movie, so you kind of get your own little room

You can also hang out in her box with her, sitting in her lap while she interacts with the other kids coming and going

She's very protective of you, after all she was originally built to protect kids, and she'll always have an eye on you

Depending on how a certain girl feels, you might get a very special green bracelet so she always knows where you are

She's also very affectionate, she'll pet your hair, tip her head against yours like a kiss, cuddle up with you, all of it

Her body is made of cloth instead of the plastic the others have, so she's a bit more comfy to snuggle with, like a very big doll

Always prepared for the littlest of littles, even if you need help with everything, she's prepared

I feel like Fazbear absolutely produces themed baby stuff, so she's got a little hoard of that stuff for each character for anyone who might ask for/want/need it

There IS Puppet stuff in there, but it's much rarer since she's hardly ever the favorite, so she's super touched if you want stuff themed for her

Obviously very good at lullabies and bedtime, she'll curl up around you and hum or sing softly, usually along to the music box until you're fast asleep

She's also very good at bedtime stories, she knows lots and lots of stories for sleepy kiddos like you

Will rock you to sleep too, slowly and gently; she might be thin, and without the hard plastic, but she's still plenty strong enough to lift and hold you

She looooves taking care of you, especially if you're really little; bottles, changes, all of it, something about it just makes her feel warm

She'll let you explore the pizzeria, but of course she always has a way to find you, and will keep the rest on high alert for anyone who's not supposed to be there

If there's any sign of the bad man (or anyone bad), she'll have the closest one bring you right to her, and she'll keep you in the box until they've been dealt with

She loves it when you bring friends to her, all your friends get special prizes, she's just happy to have people who are excited to see her like her friends get

Little one, dear, darling, sweetheart, and poppet are her favorite nicknames for you

She's not one to brag or really show you off, but she kind of loves it when other people comment on you being there when her box opens

Especially if they call you cute <3 like yes!!! Her baby is so cute, aren't they? They're the cutest baby in the world!

She doesn't speak much to the adults so she doesn't say any of that, but she'll definitely say it to you once you're alone
