Five Times Roman Didn’t Fall, and The one Time He Did
Logan snickered as Roman stumbled his way through the commons, barely managing to avoid the craft supplies scattered precariously around the room.
Smirking, he asks, “Are you having trouble there Roman?”, very much enjoying his own clean portion of the room that Patton had left untouched for him.
Rolling his eyes, Roman finally makes it to the tv, “I didn’t fall and I do believe that in situations such as this?,” he makes a wide gesture to the room, “That that is the important part,” he picks up a dvd, raising it slightly to wave in Logan’s direction, “Alice in Wonderland?”
Logan only has to place this last star just right on his model-
Roman bumps into his ladder, and suddenly he’s falling. Moving through the air, he has just enough time to think.
Landing into his awaiting arms, he can feel his legs buckle, but luckily they do not both fall.
After a beat of silence Logan adjusts his glasses, “Do try to be careful when making ones way past someone on a ladder next time.”
For his part, Roman smiles abashed. Ears only slightly pink he replies, “I’ll try to keep that in mind,” finally setting Logan on his own two feet, he looks at the ceiling, whistling in appreciation at the galaxy Logan had made. “You almost done?”
Logan presents the last piece, “Only one more star.”
Logan stares in amusement at the open field, watching as Roman and Patton attempt to coral the rest of the dogs.
Virgil watches alongside him, a small puppy napping in his arms, “He meant well.”
He smiles, straightening his glasses, “He was successful in cheering up Patton with the ‘hoard of fluff’. Perhaps he had better not go so overboard next time?”
“Oh stop, you love it,” he nudges him lightly, gesturing to Roman and the rather very large dog facing him off.
Wagging his large tail, he charges, and Logan prepares to see a sprawled out Roman on the grassy floor.
Unpredictably, in a surprising feat of strength, Roman stands his ground, picking up the russian bear dog over his shoulder and flipping it over until they were wrestling playfully.
Virgil clears his throat pointedly, tilting his head to Logan. “Pretty impressive, no?”
Logan straightens his tie, “I am, in this instance, inclined to agree.”
“Has this prank war gotten out of hand yet?”
Roman runs a hand trough his green hair, thinking for a moment, “Nay Logan. The war is over once Virgil admits defeat.
Moving passed him, he slips over his outstretched foot, quickly regaining his balance against the wall.
Logan shrugs, “He promised me ten bucks.”
“Roman I told you were the- Roman.”
He freezes from his spot, standing precariously on a stack of chairs in front of the shelf, and then he’s swinging his arms trying to keep his balance-
Logan has him in his arms before he hits the ground.
Logan looks him over quickly, “Are you alright?”
A bit startled, he replies automatically, “Me? Yes, I’m fine.”
He gives a swift nod, “Good.”
Setting him on his feet again, Logan makes his way to the shelf, pointing to the bottom, “The first shelf?”
Roman sighs, standing outside of Logan’s door.
He had to say how he felt, needed to tell him.
No grand gestures in mind, he knows that he only has to be clear and to the point, he can do this.
Before he can change his mind and walk away, the door in front of him swings open, presenting the rooms inhabitant.
Huh, maybe there was something to Virgil’s band-aid method.
Wide eyed and uncertain, he gives a small wave, “That’s all I wished to say,” turning tail, he makes it one step away before Logan grabs his hand dragging him back.
He’d left a single rose within his grasp.
Looking up, he sees Logan’s determined face.
