Thoughts on @jurassicworld Fallen Kingdom: The Good: I actually liked the main characters this go around. While I didn’t hate Owen and Claire in Jurassic World, they felt very dated. And their Romance felt slightly forced. This time things felt more natural and well rounded. The new characters were alright, but I was happy to see this change in those two. I love @filmbayona. He did a great job directing this film. He really felt like a great choice too. Given his filmography is very horror centric. Basically I loved the horror aspects of this one. Especially the ending when it basically became a haunted house movie. While I loved the monster movie stuff, and felt it was very well done, this film really made me care about the Dinosaurs for once. The last films tried, and succeeded at times, but this one made me tear at times. The Bad: Fallen Kingdom has a bit of an identity crisis. While I mostly enjoyed each act, they all felt like different movies. One minute I’m watching a disaster Movie, the next I’m watching a gothic horror flick. I would’ve liked a bit more consistency. The second act was kind of boring to me. I was basically just tapping my foot, slightly dozing off, just waiting for the film to pick up again. Thankfully it did! Sounds kind of harsh, but still. Overall: This honestly may be my favorite installment of Jurassic Park yet. That may not be saying much, but it’s true. It has its own flaws, but When the movie works it really works. One of my favorite aspects of this new trilogy is the direction they are taking the JP franchise. Thoughts on Solo: A @starwars story(No Spoilers): The Good: If I could honestly describe this movie in one word....that word would be fun! Kind of surprised to say it, but it’s true! This movie had me grinning for the majority of the run time. Even at its most cringe worthy moments. And trust me....there are some! I actually really dug the cast! Everyone had great chemistry, and seemed like they were having a ball. Obviously Donald Glover is a stand out. He truly does become a young Lando. As for Han Solo himself....he’s not bad. He’s no Harrison Ford, but he’s likable! He does a solid enough job! Regardless of the countless production issues this one had, this still felt and looked like a Ron Howard Movie. He really put his finger prints on this one. I honestly couldn’t tell you what bits of the movie weren’t his. That may be my favorite thing about all these new Star Wars Movies. You can tell each one had a clear single vision. Or at least we’re clearly made by the directors attached. Solo feels no different, and I’m okay with that. The Bad: For as much fun as I had with this, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its boring moments. A lot of that has to do with pacing. The pacing never really felt consistent. So one minute we have a thrilling action scene then the next things....really.....slow.....down. This movie is Super cheesy at times. Which I’m mostly okay with. Admittedly I kind of love cheesy movies. But this one was a bit much at times. Like I said earlier...real cringe worthy scenes. Most of the moments are callbacks or references to other Star Wars movies. Instead of going “oooo that’s cool!” You’ll go “oh! Well that happened.” This is more of a nitpick honestly, but they should’ve fired the lighting guy on this movie. Great camera work, but I could barely see anything sometimes! The whole opening scene....the whole opening flipping scene was way too hard to make out! Im just saying....it’s okay to go a bit brighter..... Overall: I went into this one not expecting much. But I came out of it surprised! I ended up having a good time, but I wouldn’t say I had a great time! The movie is....just good. #soloastarwarsstory #starwars #disney

Thoughts on @deadpoolmovie 2: The Good: Cinematically speaking, this movie completely tops the first one. The director, @davidmleitch , did a spectacular job making DP2 look stunning. Especially when it came to the action sequences. I mean coming from the Co-director of John Wick....this is expected. That being said, Deadpool 2 is primarily a comedy. Thankfully, it’s also quite funny! There are a lot of great one liners, Superhero parodies moments, cameos, 4th wall breaks, etc. You know, typical Deadpool stuff! But there are also a lot of great moments you may not notice the first time. Like the use of music, or a callback to the previous Deadpool Movie. Those are moments worth finding on a second viewing! I don’t wanna say more, no spoilers, but there are some genuine standout moments! Especially during both the opening and ending credits. That’s all I’ll say! @vancityreynolds is Deadpool. Just like the last one, he owns that red leather suit! As for the rest of the cast, everyone was great! I love the returning cast, but I give big props to @zaziebeetz and @joshbrolin! Beets was perfect as Domino, and Brolin.....well this is Brolin’s time! First he nailed Thanos, now he’s a great Cable! Good on ya man! The Bad: While the first movie’s plot was more streamlined, this movie felt a bit more convoluted. While there is still one central storyline that drives the movie, it just feels like it takes Deadpool to a lot of random places. Granted I did like the story, and I feel it was effective on an emotional level, I just wish it was more focused. Again, I thought the humor was stellar, but not every joke landed. Mostly the jokes that felt like rehashed material from the first Deadpool. I would’ve preferred more original jokes or more callbacks to old jokes like they did a few times. As apposed to just making the same jokes. Yes, like any Superhero Movie, Deadpool uses CGI. However, unlike most Superhero Movies, Deadpool isn’t working on a massive budget. It’s a big budget, but still! Point is, it shows a bit. There are a few times I thought the effects look a bit....let’s say dated. Thoughts on @avengers Infinity War (No Spoilers): The Good: This is one big emotional roller coaster. From the moment you see @marvelstudios to the moment the credits roll. This movie is relentless! I’d say my jaw was on the floor the whole time. It was exhausting! Thanos. Is. Amazing. Marvel had always seemed to struggle with villains, so my expectations with Thanos weren’t very high, honestly. Thankfully, I was quite surprised! Not only was he terrifying, but he was very well rounded. You could argue he’s actually the main character in this movie. @joshbrolin kills it! He actually made me kind of feel bad for Thanos! Obviously, a big selling point is finally seeing #mcu characters interact for the first time! Tony and Strange, The Guardians and Thor, The Guardians and any Avenger actually. Anyway, the movie delivers on this! Some of the best moments come from characters first meeting, and the chemistry is on point! @therussobrothers have really out done themselves here. They’ve proven, once again, they are The MCU’s golden boys. This may be, so far, their best Marvel film to date. They had A LOT on their plate, but they managed to deliver something truly special. The Bad: There are a lot of characters in the movie. And while I mostly enjoyed it, not everyone’s narrative is all great. Some character moments weren’t near as interesting as others. I’d find myself waiting to see what was happening in one plotline as another was still going. Admittedly, there were a few nit picky moments I had, but nothing too overly distracting. Like there were moments I thought Cap’s beard looked fake. I don’t know why. Like it just seemed off. It wasn’t like “upper lip” Bad, though. Not in the slightest. So there’s that. Overall: It’s crazy to think it’s been 10 years. While I can’t say every movie has been a knockout, I can say @marvel has done something special. And while this is not never reached its end, this movie feels like the end of an era. Or the start of the end anyway. This is, without doubt, the best Avengers Movie so far. You’ll be shocked, stunned, and floored. All in that order. #marvel #avengersinfinitywar #thanos #infinitystones

My thoughts on @aquietplacemovie: The Good: This Movie was genuinely thrilling! Just when you think things are safe. BAM! Something happens. It keeps you constantly on the edge of your seat. Biting your nails. Just hoping everyone survives! The use of sound, or lack there of, is so well done. In fact, this movie is almost entirely speechless. It relies heavily on sound work and images to tell its story. It’s like a modern silent film, and it works very well! @johnkrasinski did a terrific job directing as well as acting! I honestly loved the whole cast! A likable and loving family. And because I liked them, it made the thrills that much more effective. We need this more often in horror! The creature design was awesome! They were terrifying as hell! Kind of Cloverfield esque, but smaller and more sinister. I’m sure I’ll be getting nightmares of those things clicking and trying to find me. The bad: Like I said, this movie is almost entirely sound and image based. So while it was very effective, it did make the movie drag. Especially during the first act. It wasn’t a huge bother. More of a minor thing. My one BIG problem with the movie is kind of a spoiler. Without saying too much, I feel like the family should’ve figured out how to take care of the creatures much sooner. It seems like a common sense thing to me. Maybe have them find out a way to defeat the monsters, but then spend the Movie figuring out how to go about that. Granted, they figure it out, but much later than I think they should’ve. Overall: I really dug this movie. It stands along side Movies like Hush and Don’t Breathe as another good sound based horror movie. It’s thrilling, it’s got awesome creatures. Save for my one big plot problem, this movie is a thrill ride! Go see it, and have a great time!! Here are my thoughts on @readyplayerone : The Good: I can’t talk about this movie without mentioning the references! There’s something in there for everyone! Admittedly, I’d find myself trying to spot things. And I’d lose track of what was going on. The visuals in this film were mind blowing! The Oasis alone was incredible, but there are some moments in this film that were just spectacular. I won’t say what, but my jaw was in the floor! The action was thrilling! Whether it was a race featuring tons of famous cars, or a huge battle featuring some famous faces. I was on the edge of my seat! I genuinely loved the characters in this movie! In and out of the Oasis! I related to them, and I rooted for them! Also, their avatars were pretty awesome! This movie was CLASSIC Spielberg! His more recent films, minus BFG, have been more bio pics. But it’s nice to see he hasn’t lost his child-like spirit. The Bad: When it comes down to it, the real world scenes weren’t near as interesting as the Oasis scenes. They did a decent job making reality interesting, but they could’ve done better. I feel like the plot was a bit jarring at times. Sometimes the movie was rushing and others it kind of dragged. I would’ve liked a bit more consistency in pace. As much as I loved the references, admittedly they were distracting at times. But it will be fun to own the Blu-ray and try and find everything! Overall: This Movie is a massive love letter to Pop culture written by the man responsible for some of the best things in pop culture. It’s not a perfect movie, but it’s super thrilling! I wanna see it again. I have to see it again. Please! For the love of god! If you’re a gamer, a Comic Nerd, a cinephile, a bookworm, a geek, a Nerd, if you’re just a person......go see Ready Player One! Watched @pacificrimmovie 2 today: The Good: It was cool to see the world outside of the PPDC, and how a regular citizen thrives in a world of giant monsters. I thought they had some cool ideas, and I would’ve liked to see more ideas like that. John Boyega is always a treat. The Movie relies on him a bit too much, but he carries everything well. And he’s just so damn charming! The Jaegers and the Kaiju were still the biggest highlight! And to watch them fight is why this movie has any entertainment factor. The Bad: This Movie just doesn’t have the magic the first one had. The fights don’t feel as big and exciting as they did the first time. The characters aren’t near as interesting. Even the returning characters lose a bit of their charm. Granted the characters in the first one were fairly stereotypical, but they were interesting, cool and likable as hell! The movie feels like a watered down Michael Bay Movie at times. I think the director just told his cinematographer to watch Transformers and said “do that.” Save for a few interesting little moments, the plot isn’t anything overly exciting or original. Speaking of plot this movie, on the surface, is about robots and monsters fighting, right? Well, this movie kind of forgot that at times! Overall: I could go on, but I’ll just keep it simple. I didn’t really like this movie. It’s entertaining! I’ll give it that, but that’s All. I love the original to death! I was excited to hear they were finally gonna try and make a franchise, but if this is the best they can do? I’ll pass. I missed the touch Guillermo del Toro brought to the last movie. He made the movie exciting! Like a big spectacle! It was simple, it knew what it was and embraced that. Delivering pure entertainment with a slew of likable heroes and terrifying monsters. It felt like those classic summer blockbusters I grew up on. It was something I felt we were missing, and still kind of are, at the movies. This new one? I didn’t really feel that. Thoughts on @blackpanther: Good: The cast is stellar! @chadwickboseman is just as great as he was in Civil War. And I really gotta give it up to the supporting cast! Everyone was awesome! The chemistry among everyone was top notch! Wakanda is my new favorite place in the MCU, and that’s what this movie was about mostly. Made me wish we could’ve had the same treatment with Asgard or something. The action was fun! I also like that this wasn’t really a Superhero Movie. Nor should it have been. Happy to see this movie kept its focus on Black Panther. It’s a very stand alone movie, actually. You could probably go into it without having seen any MCU movie. My favorite thing tho? The music! Best score from the MCU since Thor 3. Bad: The plot was a bit predictable. At times things seemed like rehashings from past MCU Movies. The second act kind of dragged a bit for me. The CGI wasn’t that great at times. Also, it was hard to tell at times if BP was CGI or real. Which is normally a good thing. But this time, this is a similar complaint I had with Spider-Man and Iron Man, he always seemed CGI to me. Obviously he wasn’t at times, but still. Just a slight nitpick, I guess. Speaking of which, there is a joke in the film. It’s one of the most annoying internet jokes, and it makes me sad to see it in Black Panther. I’m just saying. Lol Over all I really dug Black Panther! It’s not a perfect movie, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth seeing! Phase 3 Of @marvelstudios movies has been my favorite so far, and this is just another stellar installment! Watched @justiceleague again. Second time since the theater. My thoughts haven’t changed much. And not for the better. I can’t deny I found some scenes pretty good. Solid action. Still like the new comers, and was happy to see Superman acting....well like Superman. But the technical problems, especially that GD upper lip, and a rushed super thin plot just keeps it from being anything special. As far as some new thoughts: This is probably my least favorite performance Affleck gave as Batman. He starts off fine, but by the end....he just seems to lose it. At that point, he’s just Affleck in a silly costume. At this point, I’m much more open to a recasting for future movies. Unless I’m shown otherwise. The movie has some really cringe moments. Especially the grave robbing scene. The worst part is they point out how bad it is, but continue to do it. I wonder if that’s a metaphor for the whole experience of making Justice League. I’d like to think so. I will say the movie had a better flow this time around, but that’s mainly because I’d seen it before. I knew what I was getting into. All in all, I’m about the same on JL. It’s a weird studio directed project that works sometimes. But not every time. Now that we are out of the Snyder era, Mind you I blame @wbpictures way more than Snyder for the failures of the DCEU, hopefully we can start seeing some quality projects with the @dccomics logo on it.
