TW // hospitalization, suicide, mental illness
I've been trying to find the words to write this for so long and I dont really know where to begin, but I think its time for me to address some things that have been weighing on my mind for quite awhile.
I've reveived several messages from people who have read my posts and are looking for help and guidance which I honestly love and appreciate so much. I never thought id be a person that people would turn to. But theres a few things I want to put out there for anyone to read so here those are:
1. I have been hospitalized following suicide attempts. I know so many people and have talked to several people who are afraid to seek help on this level. I encourage you if you have an attempt or even if you havent had an attempt but are having strong or intense suicidal ideation or urges, please ask for help. This might be the hardest thing you have ever done. But I promise you it will be worth it and it will help. And I will be so proud of you even if you dont know it.
2. Healing takes time. Everyone goes through a different process. Dont rush yours. Give yourself the space and time necessary for full and complete healing. I know everyone says this and eventually they sounds like empty words but I promise you: It Will Get Better.
3. You are beautiful. Remember that. No matter how many times your brain tells you that thats not true. You are beautiful.
4. Even if it seems like you have no one left. You're never alone. Even if it feels like no one cares I promise you that someone still does. You are loved. You are cherished. You are worthy.
5. If you need someone to talk to I strongly and deeply encourage you to reach out. Call or text a hotline. Reach out to a friend or family member that you can trust (people care ❤) and you can always message me if you just need someone to talk to or if you have any questions about seeking treatment or help.
6. Mental illness is an actual disease. You really are dealing with a sickness. Do not minimize your pain or suffering. Figure out what types of self care work for you. Learn how to cope with what you are going through. You can do it.
7. You are so special. Please remember that.
8. You are so strong. I know you may feel just the opposite but you are still here, you are still fighting. That takes strength.
9. Sometimes it takes a long time to get better. But just keep trying. Keep learning how to love yourself. It does get easier.
10. You are here for a reason. You might not know what it is but you are needed.
You are amazing. You can do this. I believe in you. // k.s.
