Do you guys think Simon’s meburgers are actually more like a salmon filet?
Soooo… who’s gonna be the brave soul that writes the ColtxSimonxRyland threesome fic?
I’m in desperate need of Bloodymary spice…
I just want to acknowledge how deep and profound all these fan posts about Markiplier's Iron Lung have been.
In a time where we are all accused of becoming illiterate, where ChatGPT is forced down our throats to think for us just so the billionaires don't lose money, where more and more people are discouraged against sitting with a thought lest it become an idea...
Even with all that, we freaks on Tumblr have been churning out literal essays that our high school teachers could only dream of having read.
"Knowledge and skill fade every day" but we're living proof that neither are gone yet. Not on our watch.
We're coming back again and again to a story about a man pitted against so many odds that you can't help but love him when he just. won't. stop.
Studio execs wants to think people don't like to talk about movies anymore. Turns out, the people talk a lot when you actually give them something to talk about.
Markiplier and David Szymanski challenged us to look, listen, and think and goddammit y'all have risen to the challenge and I'm glad to be one of you.
As a young adult, I used to think what messed me up as a kid was having completely unfiltered access to things I wasn’t ready for, like NSFW content, gore, heavy discourse, and the existence of predatory adults online. But now that I’m older, I see it differently.
The problem wasn’t what I had access to. It was that I didn’t have access to a safe adult I could actually talk to; someone I could trust to help me without immediately cutting me off from everything and everyone. I remember getting messages from strangers on Skype. I didn’t even respond. But when my parents found out, they banned me from using it entirely. That meant losing most of my contact with friends outside of school. So what did I do? I went behind their backs. And once I was hiding, I couldn’t tell them when something actually dangerous was happening, like when I started being groomed. By the time things escalated, I was already alone with it.
I think about an episode of Scared Straight where a girl was dragged through a prison because she’d been talking to adult men online. She wasn’t doing that because she was reckless or malicious; she was lonely. Her parents weren’t present, she was being bullied at school, and these men gave her attention, told her she was pretty, told her she mattered. She was already being harmed. And the adults in her life responded by terrorizing her. Humiliating her. Calling her a slut. Telling her she deserved it. Breaking her to pieces.
What lesson does that actually teach? Not “this is dangerous, come to us.” It teaches: If you get hurt, we will hurt you more. Do you really think that makes her stop, or does it just make the predators look safer by comparison? They might as well have driven her straight into the jaws of those predators with torches and pitchforks. Because when every path back to safety is lined with punishment, kids don’t run away from danger. They run deeper into it.
If you want kids to be safe, stop treating them like problems to control and start treating them like people worth protecting. Stop ripping away their autonomy the second they make a mistake or encounter something risky. Stop teaching them that honesty will cost them everything.
Be the person they can come to without fear of losing their entire world. Because safety isn’t built through control, it’s built through trust. And if you aren’t safe for them to tell the truth to, then you aren’t keeping them safe at all.
havent even seen the hail mary movie yet but from what i remember of the book, you all are WRONG about this simon x grace ship, simon would NOT be the aloof one, if he found out he got sent back in time to a universe where humanity has only just left earth and theres a kind physics teacher in a stupid shirt to bandage his wounds and listen to his bullshit AND theres alien life?????????????? he would SOB! he would DISSOLVE like a WET PAPER TOWEL! STOP HIDING THIS DEVINE TRUTH FROM YOURSELVES!!!
He’s not aloof!! He’s SCARED. Because what if this isn’t real?? What if he’s hallucinating?? What if this is just a dream and he wakes up back in the Iron Lung in an ocean of blood without a name or anyone who cares again???? Simon is scared to let himself be happy!!! And it’ll take him awhile but as soon as he truly realizes this isn’t a dream or a hallucination or some trauma induced dissociative psychosis, THEN he dissolves!! He falls apart and Grace will help him put himself back together without judgment or criticism, and Rocky and Adrian will fondly watch their leaky space blobs be dorky and in love.
*sighs* we sent four astronauts up and four came back huh
….why do you sound so disappointed? Were you expecting them to bring another one of you back???
i don't think that's so much to ask
…you were gonna eat them, weren’t you?

UBI needs to happen. via antiwork
I think most importantly, it would give us the leverage to say “no”. To walk away from bad jobs and abusive managers. To refuse to work in unsafe environments. To demand better pay.
To demand better, because the options are no longer “suck it up” or “die”.
The counter-argument: Not having UBI is in the interests of those in power who want to do anything to the people they are in power over in order to remain in power.
If the greed of the few should come before the need of the many.

Well, you know, some bathroom graffiti offers insight.
Red marker handwriting on a bathroom wall. Text reads:
“Boss made a dollar Granddad made a dime But that was a poem From a simpler time.
Boss made a thousand Gave pa a cent But that penny paid the mortgage Or at least it paid the rent
Now Boss makes a million And gives us jack Smugly blames the workers For the labor that he lacks.”
And the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls.

you know even if a homeless person or a starving person is in that position because of their own "bad decisions" i don't care. it doesn't matter. no supposed financial misstep is enough to condemn someone to homelessness or poverty.
Search and rescue teams do not ask if a hiker was properly equipped and prepared before they go out to look for them. EMTs do not ask if a driver checked their mirrors before they take them to the hospital. Lifeguards do not ask if a swimmer made a mistake by going into a riptide before they dive in after them. Judgement doesn't help anyone, including you, the person doing the judging. Just help people. Just shut the fuck up and help people.
"We're underpaid, overworked, constantly exploited, and there's literally NOTHING we can do about it!" Union organizers are doing something about it
"There's no way out of this capitalist hellscape, we need a VIOLENT REVOLUTION" Well. Before plunging the country into war I have another suggestion we could try
"We need to all start acting like Luigi and start taking down these oligarchs!" Okay, it's easy to talk a big game about how you're gonna start shooting billionaires when you know you'll never be held to your words, but can you talk a big game about unions. To your coworkers.
"We need to MAKE OLIGARCHS AFRAID AGAIN!" Oligarchs are not afraid of Americans starting a mass revolution. 90% of the country is WAY too comfortable to do that. You know what they are afraid of though?
"We need to burn down the entire system! Sure, some people might die, but that's a small sacrifice for others to make so that I can get better working conditions!" What if instead of trying to talk the people around you into a violent revolution that will end in mass casualties, you tried talking the people around you into forming a union. What if we just gave that a shot before the mass violence option.
are your actions motivated by a desire for things to get better, or a desire to be an action hero? because if it's the former, you should want a violent revolution to not need to happen. it should be your absolute last resort!
violent anything is. uh. bad. because people die. not usually exclusively the people you want to die, either. and innocent people dying is not things getting better, last time I checked!

sounds very similar to a radio story i heard in 2014 ago about credit card debt. the debt got sold to a collection company and a couple received a court summons. they knew they had taken on debt, but they were confused about who this new company was and where specifically the number they were supposed to owe came from.
they show up in court and just ask the lawyer for the collection company: can you prove where this number comes from? Do you have a contract showing that you purchased our debt? probably luckily for them, a reporter researching a book on the topic showed up and asked the same questions.
10 minutes later they get in front of the judge and the collection company drops the whole case and theyre free to go. story is below, it has a transcript in the link too
Ira talks to reporter Jake Halpern about a scene he saw take place in a Georgia courtroom where a couple uttered some magic words that seeme

people saying they couldn't see Simon The Character at first in Iron Lung but just saw Markiplier The YouTuber...
Skill Issue™️
I was THERE with Simon from the START, my boy was Going Through It already, he was so careful and quiet, desperate for a way out, not knowing what horrors are about to befall him, feeling guilty enough to not put up much of a fight yet, it was delicious
When i watched the movie Mark started as Mark, I’ve been watching his YouTube videos for so long that as soon as he pops on a screen my brain goes ‘it’s Markiplier!’. But it didn’t stay that way long at all.
Once he started talking the YouTuber part of my brain switched off and he was Simon
Because I’ve never watched Markiplier, I got to jump straight into Simon the character and the story of Iron Lung. I had so much fun with it, and I genuinely enjoyed the movie without anything going in.
