And can we acknowledge how creepy it is that these people looked at book!Alicent, a grown woman with actual political weight and adult rivalry with Rhaenyra, and somehow decided the real emotional center should be a doomed intimate friendship with a character who was literally a child in the book?

Then, to make their fanfic version look less insane on screen, they aged Alicent down and rebuilt the whole conflict around that dynamic.

I honestly don’t think Jace even likes Rhaenyra, he simply tolerates her and her stupidity because he has to.

Daemon and Rhaenyra on the show don't have a open marriage. Probably wasn't easy to Jace to see his mother cheating on the stepfather whom he venerates.

The women in general are complex characters who have done terrible things instead of 24/7 victims of evil men

Rhaenyra is proactive in taking her throne rather than standing around whinging about men not respecting her

Unlike Ryan and Sarah’s failed attempt at a “sapphic romance” that is as intriguing as white bread with boiled potatoes, the book had multiple lgbt couples

Both George and the fandom lay majority of the show’s faults on C&H’s refusal to accept this ridiculous ship was a mistake

I see a situation where Alicent lets Rhaenyra believe fake Daeron is the real one, but when that gets discovered, Rhaenyra sends Alicent to Tumbleton to persuade Daeron to surrender or otherwise face her wrath. And we all know what choice Daeron will make in the end.
