i like to think that qui-gon kept an eye on obi-wan and anakin and their training even after his death; maybe he even tried to warn anakin about palpatine, but his force ghost couldn't fully interact with the world, so his efforts were in vain. no, but just imagine how terrifying an experience it would be for anyone, to know terrible horrible things are about to happen, but be unable to stop it, just watch… do you think qui-gon remembered the promise he made to shmi every time he had to watch palpatine manipulate and hurt anakin? ouch :(
