Since this is a moment from Fangirl, I decided to blend my usual designs for them with what they look like during this scene in the manga. There, the outfits are a reversal from Pal's piece, which I thought was neat~

And I knew I simply had to keep Pal's colour palette, because it's just so dang gorgeous...!

Once I had those things decided, I figured I'd go for a dramatic camera angle (as I too-often like to torture myself with), and give it a Western comic-panel vibe with the rendering.

I think probably the vast majority of fanfic writers are substantially over 20, I mean have you seen the writing quality of some fanfics? Do you think kids have lived long enough to have the experience and skills to churn shit like that out? The idea that fanfic and fan culture is “dominated by children” makes no sense at all.
