my version of buck coming out is that Buck doesn’t realize he even needed to come out because it’s not like he was hiding it? so they’re on a call and one of the victims recognizes Buck, and Buck gets a little awkward and the guy is kind of flirty, and as they’re wheeling the guy into the ambulance, someone says to Buck, “Friend of yours?” and Buck just says “Oh no, he’s my ex,” and everyone just freezes in place and stares at Buck as Buck keeps pushing the gurney, not even noticing that he said something surprising, and there’s a beat and finally chim is the one who says “what?!?” (bonus points if he’s pushing the gurney with ravi and ravi doesn’t react either because he also thought buck was out so he’s not sure why everyone seemed confused?), and then we cut to everyone being super weird in the truck and no one wants to be the first to speak, but they have to say something, right?, so finally Bobby is like, “we’re proud of you, kid, and thanks for telling us” and buck is just like “telling you what??” and everyone gets confused again and someone says “…. telling us you like men?” and bucks like “that’s… not new information?” and they’re like, “I think we’d remember you coming out, buckaroo” and he’s like “coming out?? I’ve been out!! I was never in!!!” and suddenly it becomes this debate of buck just listing increasingly obvious signs that he was bisexual that for some reason no one noticed and buck getting more and more outraged that apparently no one listens to him. he’s like “yeah it’s been a while but you guys worked with Buck 1.0 for months!!!” and they’re like “and we all tuned out your graphic sex stories as quickly as possible!!” and “I’ve been on the LAFD pride float every year!!” and they’re like, “we just thought you were being an ally!!” and he’s like “you thought I was shirtless and covered in glitter as an ally?!?!”. eddie says nothing during this entire conversation and his facial expression is reminiscent of someone trying to solve a difficult math problem in their head. later chim relays this story to Maddie at dispatch, and not only is she also confused as to how the 118 didn’t know about this, but Josh chimes in with “he used to be on grindr in his uniform, this is absolutely on you guys”
the next day buck shows up to work and there’s a cake that says “the B in LGBT stands for Buck”

someone might have already said this, I’ve been a little mia, buuut now that I have thought about it more, the couch scene actually makes so much sense?
the thing is, we’ve only been considering the couch metaphor from a meta standpoint - and don’t get me wrong, that is def an important aspect and they have been using it as such, for examply by showing us that the answer to the couch question is eddie’s couch (thank you 6x12 couch scene my most beloved <3) - but in that we are kinda forgetting that in contrast to the other metaphors (most notably heart and water metaphors <3) the couch metaphor first and foremost isn’t a meta metaphor, it is buck’s metaphor and thereby the only metaphor that the characters are actively aware of and so while the meta aspects of it definitely are at play (and in my opinion do hold up, because of course he has grown, but not yet enough and so this time the couch choice is half his own, while half still put on someone else again, and he still doesn’t see the one right in front of him) more importantly buck is actively trying to use the couch metaphor and is actively trying to put it into play by being proactive, but it also means that the couch metaphor is not infallible, because buck is not infallible
from buck’s perspective, natalia is a good candidate and he didn’t compromise on his own boundaries for her and she still came back and stood beside him through the emotional mess that was kameron having the baby even tho that was what originally made her run - of course he would want the couch metaphor to work for the two of them (people have said it before, but it bears repeating: buck is not omniscient, he does not see the narrative signs for why he and natalia are doomed!) and of course that would make him actively put the couch metaphor into play, it’s almost like a test, like him asking can we actually ‘pick a couch’ together that works for both of us synonymous with him asking if they actually fit (which is a big step up, because it IS him making that choice and him recognizing that ‘picking a couch’ kinda needs to be a both partners kinda thing and a compromise, not him accepting couches that are hoisted on him) - and only s7 will tell us and more importantly buck the answer to that, even tho we as the audience know that the couch buck is at ease on is already out there and waiting for him to see it <3
#yup yup yup#there are two different couch metaphors at play here - the one buck is aware of - which is very directly tied to his appartment because#he isn’t looking outside of his own house - it’s a wood from the trees situation#the loft in someways is a representation of bucks mental health and the various pieces of furniture or rooms are about different aspects of#his journey - he has equated his (specifically his) couch with romantic relationships#the kitchen is about family relationships - we see it with the fact that we see Maddie and him talk in the kitchen most and the fact we saw#him cooking the Diaz’s dinner there and baking with chris#the dining table is somewhere in between (literally and metaphorically) a place of both family and romance#and the only times this season we didn’t see things happen at the table go awry in some way is when the Diaz boys were sat there#we saw Jee throwing crayons off the table his date with Natalia went wrong when they were at the table etc etc#we barely saw his bedroom this season and both times were in connection with the sperm donor storyline - to me those two scenes point toward#bucks dreams - his dreams of future fatherhood - because in bucks thinking he isn’t an actual parent to chris even if the Diaz’s are family#we’re still in the boarder line co-parent stage not in the recognised parent stage#and then there is the balcony and bucks desire for outside perspective - it’s no coincidence that all the scenes we’ve seen on the balcony#have been about trying to understand things from a different or outside perspective#and that’s in part why buck is asking Natalia to help him buy a couch - he needs some outside perspective on romance - on his thoughts of#romamce#then there is the couch metaphor the audience gets to see - the one that is all about the Diaz couch - it’s about foreshadowing and#connecting dots for the audience - it’s a metaphor that none of the characters are aware of and they’re not meant to be - it’s the part of#couch theory that has been in play the longest - because it isn’t only connected to Buck in the way his couch metaphor is - it is also#connected to Eddie and to Chris#and to buddie - but only the audience is supposed to see that right now - Buck still has work to do on himself and Eddie needs to do the#same but in a very different way (via @stagefoureddiediaz )

make buddie kiss round 7 guys *teary eyes*
*huffs copium*
Season 7 should start out with all the firefighters sitting in a circle passing Taykay’s book around angrily exclaiming about how “that didn’t happen!”
Bobby like “she never even met my sponsor!”
Chimney like “😤 I would never pull the impaling thing OUT! Who would do that? That’s insane!”
Hen like “we made an agreement with Nathaniel years ago, why would we co-sign grooming behavior?”
Eddie just laughing cause he’s like “I know she fucking hated me but why’d she make me a teen parent? 😭 I promise I have better game than a middle schooler, I swear!”
And Buck like 😳😳😳 “wow she wants me to get struck by lightning, that seems a little harsh.”
inspired by this post by @buckleyseddie
here’s the thing. and i am not just saying this as a buddie shipper. but I truly believe buck’s entire storyline this season would have worked better WITHOUT a love interest thrown in at the end. the sperm donor stuff and the lightning strike was enough and the development of BOTH of those storylines felt like it got completely consumed by him ending up with natalia at the end. him ending up with her had…..literally NOTHING to do with either storyline or with his overall “search for happiness” storyline introduced in 6a. It felt completely disconnected from the rest of his arc and I just wanna know like. why.
Never ever be normal about fictional characters but please GOD be normal about the people who play them, I am begging you
don't let buck and eddie's continuing threat against the female population of los angeles distract you from the fact that chimney han needs to get retrained as a paramedic cause why the fuck did he not only remove the object impaling him but also keep taking pressure off his rapidly bleeding wound to look at it
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
okay okay OKAY BUT YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE HILARIOUS?
buck & eddie going on a double date with marisol and natalia, but the two of them are just constantly laughing and just putting all of their focus on each other instead (kinda like how taylor was just There at the dinner scene in 5x11)
something about how both taylor and natalia ran away and came back…..something about how buck loves them for coming back and for staying, for choosing him….something about how taylor moves her couch into his place and something about how he asks natalia to help him pick out a new couch…..something about him still ending up in these relationships with no idea how he got there, without making any real choice of his own
Eddie Diaz: groaning loudly in pain, broken ribs, hasn’t taken any meds, can’t even walk on his own also Eddie Diaz: I’m fine!
the fact bobby told eddie about how he met athena was because they met during a tough call and how during that time athena sat with him, went to church with him, and then afterwards asked her on a date.
and how bucks whole search for happiness is involving a couch, and how he “doesnt want to pick the wrong one again” and hes “scared of making the same mistakes”.
and ofc the theory (that has not been proven wrong thus far) of all the important couch scenes in 6b each being three eps apart (my big brain thank you) aka 609, 612, 615.. how 618 would logically be next.
idk about you guys, but i think based on the clips we’ve gotten.. we can definitely count this one as a ‘tough call’..
like do you see how perfectly this ties up both of their romance arcs? buck picking the right couch, and eddie finding someone who’s willing to sit with him through it all…
eddie wanting someone to sit with him, and buck wanting a place to sit.
are you serious
