I have considered myself Anti-Zionist for a while, but I'm very eager to gather an understanding of Israel's positions. Sadly, everything that is *out there* is going to be very biased.  But I think that it’s important to understand the three major biases out there- and which one I personally prefer.

First of all, you have the two major extremes.  Both are dangerous, riddled with bias, and are usually filled with pure hatred. Although I can point to certain periodicals, websites, and writers that tend to lean in these directions, I would much rather describe them so you know what to watch out for.

In chapter nine of the book of Numbers, we find the story of a group of Israelites who had to advocate for their inclusion in the ritual life of the community. Because they had been carrying out their duties in caring for the dead, their ritual impurity had prevented them from observing the festival of Pesach at its designated time. In response to their protest, God actually instituted a second Pesach, a second chance for those who had been ritually impure to offer the Pesach sacrifice.

As we mark this day that God set aside to make ritual space for those who had been marginalized within the community, may we work to do the same. May we find ways to not only tolerate the marginalized, but to celebrate them, to make the invisible seen and the silent heard. And for those of us who might find ourselves excluded or cast aside by our communities, may we find the courage to raise our voices and demand our rightful place.

I hate _% of people statistics being used like “oh it’s such a small number” cause 1% is a small number but 1% of 7 billion is 70 million. That’s more than the population of the UK, France or Italy.

6% of the US is 19 million, as stated above. There are only 3 states that have over 19 million people in them. 19 million is the population of the entire state of New York. That’s more than half the population of California.

Taking populations and turning them into percentages is okay until you try to say “oh that’s not a lot of people” but the reality is… That’s millions. That’s enough to be its own country. That’s fucking scary.

People don’t label themselves as “far right” to show how much they value their faith or their community, or how much they care about families or laborers or anyone else.

When people assume Celtic = Irish I get a strong urge to stab myself in the eye.

There were 6 Celtic nations.

Éire, Cymru, Alba, Kernow, Breizh, and Ellan Vannin.

Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Cornwall, Brittany, and the Isle of Mann respectively.

They’re all related, but not the same. They all have different languages descended from a similar group, Irish (Gaeilge), Scottish (Gàidhlig), Manx (Gaelg), Welsh (Cymraeg), Cornish (Kernowek), and Breton (Brezhoneg). Some are more widely spoken than others, for example Welsh is still commonly spoken in Wales, whereas hearing Cornish in Cornwall instead of English is rare.  All Celtic nations have varied mythology and culture. Irish Mythology is different from Breton Mythology, and even Welsh and Cornish mythology (arguably the most related Celtic Nations) have subtle differences to each other. I wish I could add more about the cultures at this time but my knowledge of Celtic nations is primarily made up of the history and languages of those regions, particularly Cornwall. 

You might have notice that England and English are missing from this, because the English descended from Anglo-Saxons, who were German invaders that came to the isles right around the Fall of the Roman empire in the 5th Century, erasing the Celtic influence in what is now England. 

So what this all really means is that Celtic is an umbrella term, and just because it’s Celtic doesn’t mean it has anything to do with Ireland at all. So don’t assume that just because someone’s talking about something Celtic that they’re talking about something Irish.
