So yeah, if it wasn’t clear enough, reader is kindof a yandere/stalker in this- they cut sans’ string and tied it to their own.

Im leaving it ambiguous whether or not reader cut their own string too or if they lost their soulmate or they never had one because I like mystery. (And i also think it’s better that way.)

Reader is very noticeably emotionally codependent with sans. They’re convinced that their only purpose is to make him happy, (and in a meta sense that is kindof true) and they’re very possessive of him.

Sans on the other hand, feels almost responsible for reader. He’s conflicted about being tied to someone he barely knows, and mourns the loss of the soulmate he was fated to have, but he takes one look at reader and just… feels bad for them. He knows he should be more conflicted but… it’s hard to be when he’s treated so well by someone who looks so… hurt.

He wants to see if he can help Reader, find out the mystery of why they chose him of all people to tie themselves to, because seemingly either way he’s stuck with them.

He… feels bad when they say “I love you” and he doesn’t say it back. It clearly bothers Reader even if they don’t seem to push. He can’t be sure how much of it is actual love and not just delusion or obsession.

He denies any sort of feelings he has as simply wanting to take care of you.

On the other hand- LEAF YOU’RE A GENIUS!

For a moment I was thinking of a Sansnomaly version of this where the anomaly pulls Sans away from Y/N by doing this.

BUT, in terms of a yandere/stalker version, I would think that it would have to be within the realm of some sort of magic logic that the Reader is able to tie their strings together. Otherwise people would do this all the time, for better or worse.

I personally like the idea that Reader cut their own relationship off to tie themselves to Sans, because it adds to their obsession with Sans. Not only that, but this AU fixes my little pet peeve of yandere readers that immediately kill Sans’ potential lovers without thorough planning - because you can keep his soulmate alive but still cut him off. This allows for the soulmate to come back and cause trouble for the reader if you want.

If you chose that route where Sans has to "chose" between his "used to be" soulmate and the Reader, who has essentially forced themselves onto him as a soulmate, then it would be amazing angst potential to have Sans just... lack any sort of want to be very close to the should-have-been soulmate. The Reader didn't just cut off Sans' soulmate connection with the other person... they straight up cut off any want or need to be anything other than strangers with the would-have-been soulmate.

In the case of “magic logic” with tying your string to someone elses… I’d imagine it would come at a cost. Of course the cost for cutting your own string is losing your soulmate… but cutting someone elses? Oh it would definitely cost a lot. Law of equivalent exchange after all xD.

But what could equal the value of changing a soul’s destiny? Sacrificing your own? …Another soul? Hmm… I guess that could get rid of the extra soulmate problem… :)c

But I do LOVE the idea of the original soulmate coming in later on to try and win sans back one way or another… the angst potential is great. Reader questioning how much sans loves them… Ex-soulmate upset with Reader for ruining their future… And sans in the middle just kind of… resigned to his fate already.

Oohh but then it could be a way to show the difference in liking the idea of being with a person vs actually doing so… hehe…. I love angst…
