Book Talk Tuesday
Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes, by Eric Litwin
Summer Reading: The Halfway Point
Halfway through my summer reading challenge to read 30 books from June-August, and what a random assortment of things I’ve been into lately!
The librarian in its natural state...
What are you reading this summer? Plum Point Middle School has some ideas!
The War That Saved My Life, by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
Lumberjanes, by Noelle Stevenson
The Forgetting, by Sharon Cameron
Zero Day, by Jan Gangsei
Scar Island, by Dan Gemeinhart
By Your Side, by Kasie West
Worthy, by Donna Cooner
Irena’s Children, by Tilar J. Mazzeo
The Whole Story of Half a Girl, by Veera Hiranandani
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, by Ransom Riggs
The Giver, by Lois Lowry
Ms. Marvel, by G. Willow Wilson
After 9 years, today marked my last day as a public librarian. I loved it there, but tomorrow I begin a new adventure as a middle school media specialist. I am so sad to leave my library friends, but I have to admit that I am excited to be in charge of my very own library. It’s all so Beauty and the Beast.
Enjoying a morning with some awesome Christmas gifts: chocolate macadamia coffee in my To Kill a Mockingbird mug with my buddies Ronda Rousey and Batgirl. Life is good.
Display It: Jewish Fiction
With Hanukkah coming up at the end of the month (and to act as a counterbalance to the Christmas book display that was already up), it seemed like a good time to highlight some excellent fiction exploring Judaism. Some funny, some serious; some well-known, some not; some about the holidays, some just about every day life. A nice spread, if you will.
Featured titles:
Everything is Illuminated, by Jonathan Safran Foer
The Boston Girl, by Anita Diamant
Goldberg Variations, by Susan Isaacs
The Unthinkable Thoughts of Jacob Green, by Joshua Braff
Bee Season, by Maya Goldberg
I practice taekwondo, not karate, but for the sake of the BookFace (BookFoot? FootNote?) photo, I’ll let it slide. THIS time.
