I love the Switch 2 but it's a little disappointing
First at all, I want to share my experience. I have a gaming laptop, a PS4 slim, and the switch 1, so when Nintendo first announced the console I didn't feel like buying. The roster of new games were good but nothing too crazy for my taste.
I waited, and to be honest, even though I had the money save it I didn't decide to buy it until they announce the increased price in Europe. It had been almost a year and the number of games had increased, probably the best moment to do it.
The console arrive with Pokopia. Everything was fantastic, I tried old games with the handle hand boost mode and all of them looked fantastic. Then I started Pokopia, big fan of dragon builders 2 so this game was fantastic for me. Besides I was starting a 'next gen' game. Here, I found the first friction, load screens in a game that didn't feel like need them due to the size of the maps and a maximum capacity of 30 Pokemon for world. Okay, it's Pokemon and everyone knows that performance is not their strongest point, a little painful for a 70€ game, but okay the game was good.
After that, I bought Donkey Kong Bananza. Good game, but again 70€, and I'm sorry, I know we should judging a game by their cost. But, I'm paying more than I usually pay for a game, specially because in PC, and not being a first-week buyer, you can buy games with deals that let games for less than 60€
Eshop deals are scarcer and less than you would find in other platforms. So, I have the sword of 'expensive game' always over my head, and any error, any thing that takes a game further from perfection, looks twice worse that it would do with a more reasonable price.
Another thing is the Switch 2 like a 3ª party machine. I understand that people whose only console was switch 1 is quite happy with the roster, but for my at least, it's disappointing. New big games are not being released en Switch 2 or they are being released later. 007: first light was a game that I wanted to buy in Switch but it'll come later, so in the moment of release I would have to decide if I prefer to buy it in switch 2 full price or buy in Steam with a better deal. Something similar happen to me today with Ciberpunk 2077, I can buy for 70€ in Switch 2 or just buy for 33€ in Steam.
I'm sure that a lot of you are thinking that I hate Switch 2 after this post. Not at all, it's a great machine, awesome-built, great screen, an a 10/10 of catalogue counting switch 1. It just that it have been seven years from the first switch and an increase of price (machine and games) and the experience had not increased at the same level. Not because of the hardware but because of Nintendo and 3ª parties that decided go crazy with their politics.
