I probably should have mentioned this sooner but I’m biologically intersex. Born intersex and assigned male at birth. All that went on is a little complex. I was assigned male because I have a dick. But then when I was four something wasn’t looking right and I was announced intersex by my doctor. I had a uterus and a vagina (internal. So it wasn’t obvious. I have a dick and testes) and I produce mainly estrogen so I would go through female puberty. My parents raised me under female gender roles from then on because they knew I wouldn’t remember most of what happened before I was four anyway. They never changed my birth certificate or my name but told me I was a girl all along. I was diagnosed with gender dysphoria a week before my sixteenth birthday and now I’m back to being just a man. I don’t generally refer to myself as trans because I have privilege on the grounds of having a penis and passing pretty okay. But I do have gender dysphoria

It says a lot about your argument when you have to strawman the opposition to make you sound more reasonable. If your scientific facts: 1) don’t include non-dysphoric trans people in the studies 2) is from a non-medical source 3) is from google it doesn’t prove anything at all. All my sources are medically backed, so cough up your sources or cough up your human rights lol

(PS: if we have medical sources that explicitly state you don’t need dysphoria to be trans, the only thing that could disprove that are medical sources that state that you do.)

Nope! That’s not how it works as at all! You need to have a disconnect between your neurosex and your biological sex which causes severe distress!

Also, stop appropriating intersex language! Nobody is assigned a gender just for being born! You’re only assigned a gender if you’re intersex and your parents/doctors decide for you! Here’s the scale used for those cases:

Okay for the first statement- citation needed. Also what. Did you just say that trans people aren’t assigned a gender at birth. (By the way some intersex trans people exist so jot that one down.) Also you aren’t required to disclose this information to me if you aren’t comfortable with it but do you know any intersex people I can speak to about this? If i’m really appropriating language I’m genuinely sorry, but considering birth certificates exist for everyone, I’m fairly certain everyone is assigned a gender at birth? Again, any source at all would be nice?

Have you ever read anything about gender dysphoria? Like, it’s pretty clear that’s what gender dysphoria is. Also, with how the brain works, you can’t have that disconnect without having the distress because the brain is gonna be distressed that its body doesn’t match up with the map it has of your body. It’s similar to people who are missing limbs which is why one syndrome of gender dysphoria is stuff like phantom penis because your brain is sure it should be there so it “feels” it despite it not being there.

And yes, some intersex people are trans, however that doesn’t mean non-intersex transpeople can just appropriate their language

As for info, interinfo is a good person to check out. They’ve got lots of info on intersex conditions, issues, et cetera. Here’s a post where they talk about how AGAB is used for intersex people. They dug that up for me when I brought up that people weren’t believing me when I said AGAB is for intersex use only.

Lastly nobody is actually assigned a gender at birth unless a parent/doctor goes “hey, this child has both male and female parts - shall we turn them into a girl or keep them as a boy?” and then decides for that person what they’re going to be raised as. Non-intersex people have a very clearly defined biological sex whether that person is cis or turns out to be a part of the very, very teeny tiny part of the population (trans people make up 0.6% and that’s a generous number considering others are lower). That’s what “assigned x at birth” actually means - that someone literally intervened and decided for you what you’d be raised as, sometimes even though surgery.

It’s caused by one’s neurosex not matching with their body’s biological sex. Researchers are actually looking into developing this further so they can accurately diagnose gender dysphoria in people, including children.

Yes, interinfo does interact with TERFs, however they also call them out when need be and are entirely willing to speak to trans people. I had a very long discussion with them before and they weren’t rude or transphobic at all and I know they disagree with TERFs on at least one important biology issue (neurosex). Also, they seem to just be educating on intersex issues on that post as opposed to outright agreeing with the TERFs. (Also, I see I was wrong about the ruler as well so I apologize for that - I learned about that from a different source). That said, they still have every right to be against appropriation of their terms, whether they’re transphobic or not. Hell, if anything, trans people appropriating their language might actually be making some intersex people into TERFs, judging from the intersex TERFs I’ve interacted with before.

Trans people have FtM and MtF. There’s nothing wrong with those terms whatsoever, but if you don’t like them there’s nothing stopping you guys from coming up with something else that’s actually accurate and isn’t already being used for a very important reason that has nothing to do with us.

As for your birth certificate point, I did address it with my last paragraph - nobody is assigned a gender aside from intersex people. Everyone else is just marked down by their biological sex because almost the entirety of the human population are their biological sex. There’s no “this baby will be raised with female gender roles because I say so” involved in non-intersex births.

That does not prove that non-dysphoric trans people aren’t trans, just that dysphoric people are? I never said that dysphoric trans people aren’t trans, but unless you can show me that non-dysphoric trans people don’t have the same brain differences, you can’t prove that is what causes gender dysphoria?

Blaming trans people for TERFs existing is very very very bad. Also the fact that they didn’t condemn the TERFs original point- and that the person saying that gay trans men aren’t allowed in gay male spaces was the one that tagged them in the post, points towards them agreeing with the original point. Some trans people don’t life FtM and MtF because it implies that trans men were once female, etc. which can be upsetting? I do agree that maybe we should try finding different terms, but the trans community seem to pretty overwhelmingly use those terms?

I have also seen intersex people that prefer CAMAB and CAFAB (the C being coercively) as the gender that they are assigned is affirmed in a much more violent way than non-intersex folk?

Also aren’t intersex people given a gender so it can be put on their birth certificate? I don’t see how an intersex person is being forced to be raised with female gender roles any more than a trans man that was raised female? Obviously it’s a very different situation, but trans people most certainly are forced into gender roles from birth in most cases.

Except it does! Because being trans means you have gender dysphoria. If you don’t have gender dysphoria you’re not trans. That’s like saying you can have autism without having autism. That’s not how this works. Also, if you don’t have gender dysphoria that proves you don’t have a different neurosex than your biological sex because it would cause massive amounts of distress. Your brain has a map of the body - if things do not align with that map, it gets distressed. This is a fact and how the brain works.

Good thing I’m not blaming trans people for TERFs existing - I’m blaming appropriation of shit not for us on making people not like us very much. It happens. It’s human nature.

I mean, we ARE our biological sexes. That doesn’t change. Being upset by that is just silly and ridiculous. There’s nothing wrong with FtM and MtF.

I’m pretty sure CAGAM came about as a way to differentiate the way trans people use the appropriated term of AGAB, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay for us to use.

They’re assigned a gender so their parents can raise them in general. They can give them a name, know what to call them, know what to buy them, et cetera. Also, again, trans people aren’t forced into gender roles from birth. Sure, later on if you have to live in the closet or your family is transphobic, you might have to be forced to live as the gender you’re not, but that isn’t being assigned anything at birth. At birth, you’re just called what you are physically.

As for that person, while I appreciate their input (1 intersex person verses a lot more against it that I’ve seen), that blog is immensely biased and likely uneducated and sprouting transphobic stuff. I don’t take people or their words too serious when they have me preemptively blocked.

Hey so I know me shoving my little old opinion in here might not mean much and I know I don’t speak for every intersex person. But i’m Intersex. I also don’t support tucutes and hate this dipshit tucute buuut I also really think that AMAB and AFAB are fine as terms for trans people to use. I wouldn’t say it’s appropriation of a term.

My family and I were in Ikea and there was this really cute trans lady who looked abut forty something and she had a German Shepard with her. So naturally, me and my little sister had to pet it. So we got close enough to them before the dog came over to us and started to sniff us. The lady laughed and said we could pet the dog and so we did. Nice dog. Nice lady. All was well. As we walked away, my sister (bless her) was good enough to not even point out her appearance or her deep voice. However, my father, being the big ass hole he is, went ahead and laughed at her. He asked me "were you talking to that man lady?" I swear to god. I chose to not get all up in arms about it and I just let my dad be stupid as long as he didn't actually do anything to the lady. Thank god he didn't go up to her and point at her or anything. ~5976
