It’s simple, fun, and totally addictive to crochet — the perfect weekend project for all animal lovers! 🧶
This needs to be shared! It's such an adorable idea and looks like a quick make too.
@kleefkruid your tag is golden.
Charlie the calf

OMG! Look how adorable they are! The headband is a cute touch and I love the earth tones used for the coloring. So many people use just black and white for a more traditional cow, but these colors work great together.
the world has been horrifying recently but i have personally witnessed something that brought me joy
Every year, California’s largest sheep and fiber festival, Lambtown, takes place in Dixon, CA. On the second day of Lambtown, teams of eight compete in a “sheep to shawl” competition, where the teams must start the day with un-spun wool and end the day with a 72” woven shawl. Teams may “warp” a loom ahead of time (where you thread the loom with its foundation of parallel threads), but on the day of competition they must spin their wool into yarn and weave it into a complete shawl.
This year competition was stiff, and very very close, and the winning team finished their shawl with two and a half minutes to spare.
I frequently hear about “needing to keep “politics” out of fiber arts, but art is inherently political.
These were beautiful, masterfully spun, woven, and finished shawls and that in itself is worthy of note.
But watching this team of eight would fight for hours, and pour their love for their community into their art was deeply moving and I am still reveling in the opportunity to have seen this win.
There are few things to rejoice in today, but they do exist. The horrors may persist, but so do we.
This shall turned out amazing. I'm sure it was a sight to behold seeing them work on it from start to finish. The tiny woven details in each section of color is amazing
TikTok - Make Your Day
I can’t be the only one who is proud to showcase their new projects.
Making a weighted velvet baikal seal plushie :3
Head and tail end are stuffed w ultra plush fiber fill and the bulk of the body is packed full of weighted pellets that have a nice crunchy sound when you squeeze it. Not weighed yet, but it feels between 1.5 - 2lbs?
She doesn't even have her mouth and flippers yet!!!! She's fucking embarrassassed...
Smelling you
Finished! My mom named her Beans this morning lol.. She's around 1.2lbs and soppingly pitiful
everybody loves beans

Beans is so adorable!
Clockwise from top left: No border, Quick Mesh Border, Blanket Border (round corners), Blanket Border (square corners) (pattern).
This would be a good thing to try some time. I also love the little design in the middle. Reminds me of a four leaf clover.
I finally made my first yarn wig after 10+ years of crocheting my cosplays...
This is amazing! I had to do a double take for the top half of the wig. Keep making amazing cosplays!
This is a reminder for those who handmake Christmas presents that now is not too early to start. It may in fact be a good time to start if you have a lot to make/your craft takes a long time. You should maybe start it now, whether that's brainstorming or actually doing the crafts!
Translating this into tumblr's preferred public service announcement format for this kind of alert:
Finished this in a 3 ply fractal spun 4:2:1 and ended up with ~450 yards.
Fiber is Ethereal Clouds, hand dyed by cashmereandcoconuts on Etsy.
These look so pretty. The colors remind me of peacock feathers and I love the shift between colors. I don't know what I'd make with it, but I know it will be something just for me.
@1kittynoir1 replied to your post:
What did it get used for? 👀
It's not done yet, but it's the facing, collar, and cuffs for the patchwork dressing gown I'm working on! It was less than half a metre of silk/rayon velvet that I dyed in college because the sample we did of that colour was so nice I wanted a bigger piece. (It was PRO MX fibre reactive dye in the colour Marine, and I don't have my dye sample book with me right now but I think it was at 4%. It shows up more green on some fibres and more blue on others, but is always gorgeous.)
I had no specific plans for it at the time, but eventually the perfect project came along, and there was just enough!
I've been working on this thing (intermittently, in short busts) for a few years now, and am finally done the patchwork and on to the construction. I've posted occasional updates on @vincentbriggs and will post photos there when I'm done.
I've also been filming the whole process, so I'll have a video about it up on my youtube channel eventually, but that'll be a while after it's finished because I have so so so many clips and it's going to take a horrifyingly large amount of editing.
It's based on this c. 1835 original, which is a good 50-100 years later than what I usually sew, but I like it and I wanted one.
If anyone's wondering how many triangles mine has, it's 6,957.
Since I've got the time consuming part out of the way I'm hoping I can get the construction done before winter officially ends.
Edit: Why does everyone think I had a bad time working on the triangles?? I loved working on them, it was so satisfying to put lots of little bits of colour together. The reason I worked on it intermittently is because I could not put it down once I got working on it, and would work on it all day for several days straight until I was very tired and sore, and then I had to put it away to stop myself, and then I'd forget about it for a few months.
Also, they're machine sewn. Most of the actual garment construction will be by hand, but the patchwork is all by machine.
I finished my dressing gown.
And besides the velvet, it of course used up a lot of other little bits of fabric!
(Once again, my sewing and other non-dinosaur works are mainly posted on @vincentbriggs)
Video finished :)
It's an hour and 13 minutes long and I say 11,785 words in it.
i want to build up my skill set to one day be able to make something like this!!!! #op this is 1) absolutely gorgeous & 2) so much helpful information! thank u for sharing 🥰 #all the shots of twirling in the finished garment made me so so happy i got a little teary-eyed??? #‘it looks very nice. it reminds me of — you know when people have extra nipples?’ #absolutely Took Me Out i hollered #like that comment toward the end of such an earnest video? so unexpected. so fucking hilarious
Thank you!! Good luck on your sewing! And I'm glad my Very Correct nipple observations were appreciated
This post is getting notes again, and I just wanna add some pictures of other things I've made videos of.
Stripey painted leather gloves.
Velvet mite brooch.
Leaf for head.
Leaf for torso, a leaf sequel, now with added slime mould beading.
Very very long and detailed shirt tutorial, which I also did a written version of. You should make one, it's all rectangles.
and Normal Fabric Waistcoat.
I am very slow at making youtube videos but I post monthly updates on the video stuff I've been working on over on patreon, along with 4 extra dinosaurs a month. (and aaghh I know I've been really really sparse with the dinosaurs here lately, I'm sorry!! It's not intentional, there are just a lot of other things to do and also it's been over 9 years and every year I get a little more tired of drawing dinosaurs!)
Right now I'm editing a video for a thing I finished sewing almost 2 months ago, and it's not even one of my longer videos, I've just been doing other things and stuff.
I know I say this for my scrap yarn too.
This is so pretty <3
This looks so pretty. I love the way the color blends from one color to the next. I can't wait to see the finished outcome.
It is a free pattern friday, and this time I have a cute squirtle pattern from Tash's crochet. You can get the pattern by watching her youtube tutorial. Enjoy!
Tutorial Here
Starting color work on this sweater! It’s my first time doing a grid design in crochet, it’s kind of a pain in the ass 😅 but I think it’s looking pretty good for a design I made myself as well! I’m learning a lot (like how I would adjust the tail design to translate better)
I can’t wait to see the end result. It’s great you chose the cat design. It may be a pain, but I believe in you!
Ah thank you for your kind words! Here’s an update :) I wasn’t happy with how some of the finer details were coming out (I think because I’m using a #6 super bulky weight yarn rather than the typical #4), so I decided to cross stitch them on top. I’m gonna do that for the collar tag, nose, and eyebrows (and maybe clean up the whiskers). I did cross stitch for the vertical teal part of the eyes and like it!
I’m learning that symmetry actually isn’t beneficial for grid/intarsa/tapestry crochet since the stitches are slanted a bit, which makes straight lines not straight anymore. But all good lessons for my next design!
I think the cat still looks amazing, and it's always good to do what you are comfortable with when making these awesome creations.
Cerise and Black Poncho
This looks amazing! I would love to try this as a passion project some time!
