i've always been dogshit at pottery on a wheel because i have weak noodle arms and can't hold my hands firmly in place to center the clay but i finally realized the root issue was that my legs are SHORT since i have the limb/torso proportions of a dachshund and i couldn't brace my elbows on my legs, so i put bricks under my feet and now i can sort of do it!! i've tried to learn twice in the past from TALL people but had a revelation when i watched a medium size guy throwing.
The moral of the story is: don't give up, maybe you just need bricks
At some point this post became about guitars, and it will surprise no one to learn that I have a 3/4 size guitar. Trying to play a full sized one makes me feel like that Rosso Fiorentino painting I have a canvas print of.
I also have trouble with chairs. I usually sit cross legged or Japanese style with my feet tucked underneath. That’s why I love tiny Ikea furniture. The world wasn’t made for me. God forbid dachshunds do anything. My coworker [big, tall, very nice guy] , who knows I draw as a hobby, asked me what the hardest thing was for me to draw, and I said “people sitting in chairs or holding wine glasses” because I can’t use myself as a reference. But I’ve given up; everyone I draw now lives on Planet Big Cup.
I would be sorry for contributing to the guitar direction - but I can’t be, because I am TERRIBLY grateful to live in the timeline of this illustration!
