I’m currently questioning...

My gender identity, sexual orientation, and most things about how I want my life to be…but mainly my gender.

Since quarantine, I haven’t felt fully comfortable being labelled as a woman, and I couldn’t tell if that was from consuming too much LGBTQ content from Tiktok and YouTube OR if that was a genuine gender identity crisis that LITERALLY came right after my sexuality crisis. (How fun.)

I wanna start documenting my thoughts and theories to avoid going insane, and it’s unlikely anyone is gonna see this so I can be as open as I want.

Stop just asking "is it normal?" and start asking "is it harming anyone?" Lots of harmful things are normalized in this society and lots of things considered weird or rare are completely harmless. Whether something is considered normal or common shouldn't be the deciding factor in whether it's okay

Even at pride itself when I went last year, there were four aro things. That’s it. Do you know how depressing that is to go to the queer place specially and you have to stop at every single stall to scour for a single thing to represent you?

we need to normalize aromantism. We need to stop more than friends and “you laughed at what he said you’re in love!” Or “you spent the night with her just admit you’re gay” attitudes. Romance is not required to be a human and it’s not required for intimacy. It should be just as known and accepted as being gay.

God honestly this, I live in Chicago and my regular tattoo shop is very queer and in Boystown (a very queer neighborhood) and every June they have discounted pride tattoos.

In June I went to go get an arrow for well...being aro and despite the fact I explained it was for being aromantic and they just did not understand and didn't give me the discount I would have it was for my bisexual or nonbinary identities.

for whoever needs to hear this:

starting HRT doesn't have to be a huge momentous all-or-nothing decision. you can just try it like you would an antidepressant you've been informed of the risks of.

there won't be any immediate irreversible changes overnight. you can always stop, change your dose, change your delivery system, decide it's not the right time. you can even microdose if you want to.

you don't have to tell anyone. you don't have to announce it if you don't want to.

stop waiting for a perfect time in your life because it won't come.

stop waiting to reach a mythical level of certainty that never comes to anyone, for anything.

you've been thinking about it long enough. if you have the opportunity, just give it a shot. you're worth the courage it takes to make a change in your life.

I know SEVERAL afab nonbinary people who, as soon as they came out as nonbinary - immediately began dressing in ridiculous hyper-femme outfits they never would have worn before.  A lot of people see this and say shit like “Theyfab” or say they are only nonbinary for attention.  After all, look how femme they are.

But to me, this makes perfect sense.  When you are forced into the category of “woman” against your will, femininity is a chore.  It’s a job that you have.  As soon as you say no, I’m not a woman, suddenly femininity isn’t your job anymore.  It’s not a requirement.  It’s just a fun hobby you can get into.  Or a little treat sometimes.
