FISH HAMMER
For beating the carp outta someone
Here's my take on a mech pilot class! If you have any feedback, feel free to send it my way! I had a lot of fun working on this and I hope you enjoy it as well!

[HOMEBREWERY]
it’s easy to forget, so I’ll remind y’all: you can make fantasy versions of anything. yes even things you might not think about. like soil types. I am thinking of fantasy soil types right now
The trouble with trying to talk about "the players just dick around while the GM does all the actual work of making the game happen" as a dysfunctional mode of play in tabletop roleplaying spaces is that it's so normalised that a lot of GMs genuinely don't realise that's what's happening. They'll look at a description of the problem and with a perfectly straight face declare "yeah, that shit would never fly in my group, that's why we [proceeds to describe a way of organising play in which the GM does all the actual work of making the game happen]". And we wonder by GM burnout is such a universal phenomenon!
(It's by no means limited to structured or rules-heavy play, either. Semi-freeform play where you throw out 90% of the rules and look to the GM for an off-the-cuff ruling every single time someone picks up the dice is one of the principal forms of making the GM do all the actual work.)
But Brennan Lee Mulligan makes it look so easy

Three tips from me, in order of importance:
1. Tell me what you want your character to do. It's not quite plotting out their story in advance but tell me "I want to do this sweet move in combat" "I want to romance an NPC" "I want my character to lose something important". This helps a GM give you what you want and provides a central moment they can plan sessions around.
2. Be invested in the table. This is my anti-lone wolf spiel. Your characters should have their own stuff going on but their primary focus at any given moment should be the vibe of their team. Is it bad, is it good? Work with your fellow players and make your bond the centre of the story. On a pure energy level side of things, every second you mob are talking to each other is a second I get to rest my voice and prepare for the next thing.
3. Be aggressively aware of the time. This one's anxiety inducing, sorry! We only get to meet once every however long and we want to get through as much story as we can. Hesitating and over planning eat up precious minutes that could be used for kissing goblins or killing god. If the players move themselves and each other forward to action then the GM isn't the one having to corral you away from the rulebook and back to the game.
adventure can be pretty ominous, huh

what d&d spell do you wish you could use in real life and why is it prestidigitation?
No. No, listen. Listen to me. Shut up about 'fireball'. If you're really that interested in arson, download the anarchists cookbook, coward. And shut up about teleportation, none of us asocial inside kids is prepared to deal with the consequences of a mishap, which will DEF happen if you use it frequently.
You know what has no chance of mishap and all chances of convenience? Prestidigi-fucking-tation.
Do you hate doing dishes? Poof. Every dish in a 5 foot cube is now clean. Even if you hardlined the rules as only applying to individual objects, less than 6 seconds to clean your curry tupper ware without getting those weird stains on it is worth it. never have to run a dish washer, never be without your favourite mug. And that's just dishes.
Hate laundry? Boom. You can just clean your clothes immediately after taking them off at night. Hate putting on your fitted sheet? Boom. Don't even take it off the bed. Your sink? Bathtub? Toilet? all of these things can be cleaned instantly and without needing any electricity and water guzzling machines. You can even do it on the go- stained your shirt? No you didn't. Sweat through your shirt? No the fuck you didn't. When you have prestidigitation, you are perpetually impeccable.
But wait, there's more! Prestidigitation doesn't just clean! Did your tea go cold? Boom, heat it up. Forget to put your wine in the fridge? Boom, now it's cold. Do you hate how water tastes? Boom- now it tastes like whatever you like. You will never again be forced to suffer a taste you don't enjoy with this one neat trick, because prestidigitation is technically like 5 tricks rolled into one convenient spell that is both practical and flashy.
Light candles with a snap of your fingers for dramatic effect! Conjure scissors from thin air! Create ominous whispers to follow you as you walk past your enemies! Leave a message on the wall that looks like dripping blood to remind your spouse to give the dog it's pills! Make an illusion of what haircut you want at the salon! and do all of that as many times as you want because we are cooking with cantrips baybe! You can even have multiple effects running simultaneously! The possibilities are as endless as the time, money, and frustration it will save you!
No other spell will give you more bang for your buck than prestidigitation. It is The spell, and every day it continues to be not real is a day I weep. I want this. YOU want this.

Ok but subtle spell catapult to gaslight people into thinking you have a ghost.
Or mage hand similarly
My dear you do not need magic to be a real life scooby-doo villain. You can do that with some gumption and basic stage production. But only magic can extricate us from the Sisyphean hell of laundry and dishes.

Warforged druid that when they wildshape just change transformers-style into a mech version of the animal.
More fist weapons! And yes, all of these Fist Of...weapons are similar effects from the Weapon of Elements. :X Work smarter not harder? Follow me for more Magic Items, every day!

LISTEN. You’re a GM. You have a world. You need to give your players information about that world without info-dumping on them as the game develops.
Your campaign world needs a newspaper. There is no better way of relaying the setting’s lore and exposition than through the lens of the NPCs who live there. They can post work opportunities! They can discuss current events! They can use local lingo! They can post scurrilous lies about whatever you want!
And your players will eat it up!
Are you feeling heady with power yet? Do you realize what a tool this is?!
They will be shocked when they first realize that the papers lied to them… Or they’ll feel oh so very clever for being skeptical about what they read! Hell, they might even want to put out ads or articles in the paper of their own creation! Imagine their faces when the paper talks about them and their heroic exploits… Or attributes credit for what they did to someone else entirely! Or makes the whole thing a hit piece painting them as villains! What if the whole tone of the paper suddenly changes? What if a favorite columnist suddenly shows up dead? What if an obituary for one of the player characters gets printed? Your options are literally limitless.
Give your game a newspaper. You’ll thank me. You’re welcome.
