Whooo sewing on the bus.....
Just discovered this amaaaaaazingly helpful app for organising patterns! I store all of my patterns in ring binders, but this is a great way to see a quick overview of what you've got. You can add the sizes you have, specify garment types, and add tags to make it easy for searching through your collection. You can add multiple pictures to the pattern, so I guess if you've actually made up the pattern before you can store photos to show what it looks like. I am in love. 😍 SEWING PATTERN BUDDY by KWIRKY KIWI Available in google play (and I guess in apple?? Idk)
Petition to revive 18th century fashion immediately
The bowler hat is so named because it resembles bowling balls as they appeared in the 1920s, when they were all black felt with brims.
I refashioned this 1980s bridesmaid dress into a simple 1950s style dress for my beautiful friend @saltybennet. Only took me about three days! (Which is good for me lately)
Adding trim to the apron front of a bustle skirt is tedious work......
I made this dress three years ago for one of my friends to wear to my 16th birthday party. It was a 1920s/Downton Abbey murder mystery theme!
This was made of second hand fabric that I bought for a really good price at a local op shop! The skirt was recycled from one I already owned, and the sash was made from leftover fabric!
Honestly for a no-pattern attempt I’m pretty proud of fifteen year old me.
Up-cycling is amazing.
wow!

I feel like crying look at that just LOOK
The first time someone has paid actual money for my work. I made some cuffs (and petticoats) to sell at the shop I work at as part of their steampunk promotion for an event this weekend. People actually paid money for stuff I made???? It's so strange???
When you show up at work and see your old wearable arts entry im the window!! Part of a steampunk promotion at the moment!
“I want something more simple, natural.”
My hoop skirt!!! Made from garden irrigation tubing and $2 shop ribbon! Easy peasy, and no more than $15 all up! :) I looooooooved wearing this, it swishes so deliciously. Made me feel soo Scarlet. Working out how big the hoops had to be was the only time I have ever used maths or pi out of school.
Throwback to this entry in my high school wearable arts competition. Took me MONTHS! A mishmash of historical styles designed to remind the onlooker/wearer of centuries of tradition and custom. Heavy focus on lacing designed imply restriction, but also a reminder that these rules can be loosened and changed. 85% materials are recylced! More details and making of coming. :)
