so many responses of “its nice that you’re privileged enough to be able to steal from Target willy nilly!” and that’s not at all what this is about. like, yeah, shoplifting and loitering and graffiti and breaking the rules is, obviously, part of “do crime”. but they’re not parts you have to do.

would you help someone get an abortion where it was illegal?

would you help a trans friend get healthcare that had been criminalized?

would you shelter someone fleeing persecution, even if the law said not to?

would you help a gay couple stay together when the state decided their relationship was unlawful?

instead, would you report someone else for breaking the law? will you snitch on your hungry neighbors for stealing food? on your homeless neighbors for sleeping where they’re able?

would you break laws to protect someone you love? a community you love? yourself?

genuinely what the fuck is up with all so-called "allies" of the trans community only ever saying shit like "protect the dolls" and "trans women are women and so sexy aha <3" and just. leaving it at that? and those who actually do include more of us in these sentiments always do it by saying "trans rights are human rights!" once during one pride month and then never again. what about nonhumans? what about trans men? what about nonbinary people? and what about genderqueer people and multigender people and literally all other trans people? and also, how the fuck is it progressive and inherently gender affirming to act as if trans women specifically are fragile and in need of protection? sure, trans people are in danger in today's society and that needs to be acknowledged, but only ever saying shit like this about trans women fucking reeks of misogyny :/

edit: i feel like i didn't word this very well. what i mean is that only ever saying that transfems are attractive and acting as if that's the only reason to support them and also insisting that they're weak and in need of protection from everyone else doesn't sit right w me. THAT'S what's misogynistic :/

"protect the dolls" comes from a Black and Latin queer subculture, and is often used to refer specifically to Black trans women, who are by far the trans demographic at the highest risk of being murdered. this is just "all lives matter" but queer

Let me settle the 'is it fetishism and is it bad?' debate once and for all:

Being attracted to any kind of body is normal. Fat bodies. Trans bodies. Disabled bodies. All normal. Being extra attracted to a specific kind of body is normal too. Totally normal to have a type.

Not unlearning the societal stigma attached to those kinds of bodies, the people who inhabit those bodies, and the people who fuck them, to the point where you do any of the following:

Only want to date/fuck the person in secret.

Reduce the person to the feature that you desire and ignore the rest of who they are as a person.

Expect the person to be a walking porn fantasy instead of a real person with their own sexual preferences and boundaries.

Would no longer love the person if the stigmatized aspect of their body changed.

Consider yourself superior to the person, think the person should be 'grateful' that you love their body, etc.

See the person as a temporary adventure while planning to eventually settle down with someone whose body isn't stigmatized.

Is bad and harmful and you shouldn't be dating anyone until you've worked on your shit, because this makes you a very terrible partner. This doesn't mean you are a bad person with bad-fetishist-desires who can only desire people badly, it means you need to unlearn societal stigma so you can be a better partner to the people you desire.

One of the most annoying genres of people on the internet are people who act like they believe science is one single monolithic thing. Like, you'll see an article saying something like "scientists studying the movement of tectonic plates", and then in the comments there'll be several smug people saying "smh why are scientists doing this instead of finding a cure for cancer", like. Why would a geologist be doing that.
