I included these variations because I couldn't decide on just one—all the elements I found on Pinterest suited the chapters I've been working on so well! I am really coming into my own with forming the words to express my philosophy both in and outside of my writing. It is amazing to see that researching and working as hard and long as I have to find the specific words and tactile experiences to best express something is actually paying off, making it a truly visceral experience for the reader.
I blame having rewatched Raw a few months back for making these more than anything. Instead of obsessively talking about it nearly as much as I wanted to, I sublimated that intensity into my writing. Today, I tried to get through more of another movie I recently started, but I ended up pausing due to inspiration yet again. It's not super energetic in a mainstream way, but there is a distinct energy there, a pulse one might say, lol.
The style was also pulling on an old web weave or comment I don't have the energy or time to find—one where I ranted about the intimacy of surgery. I think it was a meme post I took too seriously.
I had a rather serious surgery when I was quite young, but still old enough to have full memory of the entire experience, having had a near-death experience (NDE) prior to the surgery leading up to needing it later, and then another while under anesthesia. Which, I distinctly recall ranting about then as well. I have taken to not talking here much in the ways that I used to and cleaning up/deleting a lot of old posts, so... forgive me if I never recover said post to link here.
At any rate, that sentiment is explored in the crossover as well as ILY, so each fandom will hopefully enjoy these! For that reason, I included some variations with the Orphic egg and the infinity symbol above, and some without. Though, spoiler alert: both fics operate within my own form of Orphism, which ties into my philosophy and goes directly against the standard cult's puritanical focus.
Historically, that focus was aligned with "catharsis," which originally meant to purify and lighten the spirit so one might escape the bodily "cage" of the reincarnation cycle. Catharsis, coming from the ancient Greek noun κάθαρσις, literally means "purification" or "cleansing." This is derived from the verb kathaírō (to cleanse/purge), which traces back to the root katharós (καθαρός), meaning "pure" or "clean". Anyway, I won't deconstruct how my philosophy critiques this here, but soon enough, ILY will be done for you all to digest and form your own understanding of all that jazz. After I've finished it, I’ll most likely work on finishing the accompanying companion to the work, deconstructing all the layers and aspects I can think to include.

The quote I put over that specific image—"Beast, man, god; all still one underneath the illusion of separation"—is a direct quote from an upcoming chapter I was working on recently, which really inspired the creation of this mood board. I fought off including more. Lol
Here's the movie trailer. It isn't as striking as "Flesh", but the contrasting medical imagery with the more visceral was similar to aspects I play with.
Forgot to add one in the original reblog of this variation. I like the hand instead of a single wing (which breaks purity and symmetry, focusing on the sensory world of the body), being that it's for the person being bitten, so it has reversed color hands (black, and upon touch, there's that electric white).
Here you can see the movie poster that I was also inspired by for that movie, enough, titled "The Sentiment of the Flesh." God, my French skills are going to excel in the strangest areas. Using the movie "Raw" as a rewatch for help, for sure, moving forward with language studies. Lol
