This is really cool but you've got to make sure the original panels were knitted to shape for something like this!! If they were cut from a large piece of knitted cloth you won't be able to do that kind of unravelling, they'd just be in a lot of short pieces.

Engineering Knits on youtube has several videos going into detail about the process.
