stop telling everyone who is rightfully upset about the misrepresentation in sumeru to just not play the game or not expect so much out of a game like genshin. if a multimillion dollar company such as hoyoverse aims to reach players globally and create nations that take direct inspiration from REAL CULTURES AND PLACES, then they’re supposed to do it the right fucking way. players from the cultures and places that are supposed to be showcased should NOT have to lower their expectations and simply accept that the type of orientalism and misrepresentation hoyoverse puts forth with their takes on sumeru are just how things will be. it’s a deep-rooted issue that isn’t only present in games like genshin, it is everywhere. they deserve to expect more. they deserve to SEE more.

In 1990, the high school dropout rate for Dolly Parton’s hometown of Sevierville Tennessee was at 34% (Research shows that most kids make up their minds in fifth/sixth grade not to graduate). That year, all fifth and sixth graders from Sevierville were invited by Parton to attend an assembly at Dollywood. They were asked to pick a buddy, and if both students completed high school, Dolly Parton would personally hand them each a $500 check on their graduation day. As a result, the dropout rate for those classes fell to 6%, and has generally retained that average to this day.

Shortly after the success of The Buddy Program, Parton learned in dealing with teachers from the school district that problems in education often begin during first grade when kids are at different developmental levels. That year The Dollywood Foundation paid the salaries for additional teachers assistants in every first grade class for the next 2 years, under the agreement that if the program worked, the school system would effectively adopt and fund the program after the trial period.

During the same period, Parton founded the Imagination Library in 1995: The idea being that children from her rural hometown and low-income families often start school at a disadvantage and as a result, will be unfairly compared to their peers for the rest of their lives, effectively encouraging them not to pursue higher education. The objective of the Imagination library was that every child in Sevier County would receive one book, every month, mailed and addressed to the child, from the day they were born until the day they started kindergarten, 100% free of charge. What began as a hometown initiative now serves children in all 50 states, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, mailing thousands of free books to children around the world monthly.

On March 1, 2018 Parton donated her 100 millionth book at the Library of Congress: a copy of “Coat of Many Colors” dedicated to her father, who never learned to read or write.

i think absolutely the funniest thing about like, the adfree tumblr subscription coming with the option to turn ads back on anyway so you can see the weird ad everyone is talking about, or the new promoted post feature and everyone immediately thinking about what kind of stupid shit to put on other people’s dashboards. is that for years execs have been struggling for a way to make tumblr profitable when its userbase is so actively hostile to being advertised to and thus extremely unattractive to the big advertisers that keep the majority of other sites afloat, and have been passing tumblr around from company to company like a hot potato as a result. and now the solution is to like. only allow the stupidest most insane ineffective advertisements and then give users the tools to make even more insane and ineffective advertisements. i just really like that this site is so impossible to advertise to that they just kinda gave up on doing it the conventional way and are now letting us prop up the empty defaced husk of advertisement and parade it around for our amusement. i also really like that this is a perfectly double edged sword because the more people see your post the more attention you get and everyone knows attention is a punishment on tumblr dot com. i love it here i’m never gonna leave

If you have DNI lists that are a mile long, I find it hard to respect your actions. Time and time again I've seen it used to exclude minorities. I'm not talking about things like SA and whatnot. But the whole if you have an ED (I'm not talking about pro ana, that's a whole other mess) or you're trans or you have some sort of weird kink or you're an adult that accidentally re blogs a minors post. It is particularly cruel to me that John Green was harassed essentially off of the internet in the way that he was because the poor man has OCD and is very open about it.

The way he was treated is horrible and disgusting for anyone at all, but John Green has for years and years (along with his brother Hank) tried to make the world a measurably better place while living with a horrific mental illness. A mental illness that makes something like being called a pedophile over and over again horrific in ways that unless you have OCD, or are very very close to someone who does, you will never understand because OCD targets whatever you value and makes your world a living hell over it.

And you know what? He still writes his novels, and he is still out here doing absolutely everything he can to make the world a measurably better place. The cock monologue was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
