me when i first started watching cdramas: woah the sets are so beautiful
me watching cdramas now: hey, i know that street. hey, i know that temple. hey, i know that courtyard. hey, i know that gate. hey, i know that tree
Someone pitch a c drama where the plot is just that two producers double booked hengdian studios for their new high budget wuxia dramas and now they're fighting over the sets
There's only one bed set
Actors get halfway through a fight scene before they realize they’re from different shows.
The bridal procession extras deliver the actress to the wrong wedding.
Two producers on different shows realise that they can save money if they share a bunch of sets and all the extras, so they scheme to each book half of what they need at the same time while reporting that they've booked the whole thing, so that they can pocket the difference.
Show A needs to have a scene in a crowded street, while Show B needs to have an indoor scene with a crowded street visible through the window - they can use the same street and the same crowd.
The rest of the show turns into a farce as the two producers try to keep anyone else from working out what's going on. At one point, there's a near disaster because one of the directors wants to shoot from a different angle, which would put show A's camera crew in shot for show B.
At some point, one of the minor character actors figures it out and agrees not to spill the beans if they get a line in the other show so that they can double their credits.
I would in the ancient day have said "OH GOD SOMEBODY CALL NETFLIX!", except they'd kill it after just two seasons. :/
