Summary:
After retiring, Asa and Anthony move to the South Downs, far from the fast life of London. On their mantelpiece, amongst framed pictures and decorative knickknacks, a snow globe gathers dust as it slowly forgotten.
Excerpt:
Anathema, my dear girl, do you want one?” Asa asked once Newton was served too. “Sure,” she answered in an absent voice. “You alright?” Anthony asked. “Yeah. Say, where did you get that snow globe?” Asa frowned, rubbing his palm at the back of his neck where he could feel his hairs rising up. “What snow globe?” he asked absentmindedly, without looking at her. Silence stretched for a few seconds as Ana watched the globe in her hands, barely tilting it to the side, the white powder inside moving slightly. Anthony winced, a little flash of pain poking him behind the eyes. He reached inside his breast pocket for a pair of dark sunglasses, and replaced his normal ones. “Never mind,” Anathema said, shaking her head. She placed the globe on the mantel and took the cup of tea offered by Asa.
I hope you enjoy that Good Omens 3 fix-it story <3
Tag list after the cut, hoping I don't forget anyone <3
#just ineffable husbands things (x|x|x) thank you aziraphale and crowley for everything❤️
One day, maybe in the final days of their human life, Asa and Anthony feel complied to pick up that snowglobe thing that has been on their mantelpiece for the last twenty years, gathering dust.
He doesn't know why, but today, Asa feels like turning it upside down, and watch the snow fall on that red bookshop front.
And then, just like that, just with a blink of his eyes, eons of memories come back. He turns to his husband.
"Oh," he says. "Crowley..."
"Hello, angel."
old man sam wig ending core

Ok so I made a post about the thing that made me the most mad in the GO final was not getting to find out Crowleys angel name, but this was the second. Neil gaimen even had to fuck over the costume budget? Whhhyyyyy
AITA because the biggest thing Im mad about for the GO finale is that
Spoilers
We didnt get to know Crowleys angel name?
Something something, yes they didnt kiss and the finger lip touch thing was weird, and yes they dont get to be together forever in a cottage in the south downs with 'their' Bentley because they arnt 'them' anymore, but they also didnt have to spend six thousand years pining and pretending not to love eachother: they met that day and from that day forward loved eachother until the end of 'their' days and that still made me a bit teary.
"biblical angels" you do realise there are angels in the old testament that are literally just regular looking guys, right? you do know that the hallucinogenic incoherent descriptions are in like. two books. and the rest of the time angels are just guys. you know that, right?
and I'm not saying don't have fun with weird angels. I'm saying, either the eldritch forms are for special occasions, or the society of the angels is Many-Eyed-Many-Winged-Interlocking-Circles, Four-Faces-Six-Wings, and Mike.
Literally Raphael is just a normal person!
this is what the heavenly breakroom is like
Oh no now I love the water cooler angel
Two things worth noting:
1) the wild crazy wheels-in-wheels angels appear only in prophesies;
2) the prophets are trying to interpret things beyond understanding, and were 10th-century-BCE sheepherders.
With that in mind, just as a fun exercise, let's ask ourselves:
--what can be powered by fire?
--what has the appearance of smaller wheels inside bigger wheels?
--What might be taken to have "many eyes"?
What I'm saying is, if you wanted to go the "truly eldritch horror but from the perspective of the original prophets" route, the most accurate "legion of biblical angels" (or let's call them what they are, angels of the Tanakh) would be this:
I love the water cooler angel but I ALSO love how you’re opening the door to the idea that this is an angel:
Well, we needed Dean to ride one one way or the other, didn't we?

So wait are livestock guardian dogs to their flocks like… Clark Kent among the residents of Smallville? He’s been here since he was a baby, we all know him, and he’s… generally one-of-us shaped, uh, approximately. And then when something goes wrong he suddenly leaps into action and does some terrifying impossible shit none of us could do. And then comes back home and settles in like nothing happened and he’s one of us again.
Hmm.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Actual answer: the sheep know the dogs are not sheep, and they also know the dog is protecting them and take their cues from the dog about whether they need to run for the barn or can just ignore anything scary that approaches.
However, a friend once had an extremely premature orphan lamb born in December who had to live in the house for a couple of months with leg braces and all that, who due to spending her lambhood with dogs instead of sheep came out of the whole experience convinced she was a livestock guardian dog! She would patrol the perimeter of the fields every evening with the actual dog, stand watch in the barn door at night like the dog, and was more than willing to throw down if she saw something scary coming towards the flock the way the guard dog did. Tragically orphaned lamb did a convincing job at being a guard dog without actually having any of the biological advantages a dog has over a sheep.
Which I suppose made her Sheep Batman.
Friendly reminder:
No, you don't want that otter. No, that is not a pet. No, that up close encounter where you can pay to cuddle with an otter is probably not ethical. No, I'm pretty sure that channel with a guy and his pet otters is not a legitimate "animal rescue", stop recommending it to me.
Yes, the otter is cute. Please admire them either from a distance, or behind a barrier at an accredited facility. Thank you.
.....no I'm not going insane seeing how flooded social media is with unethical otter content.
The recent popularity of otter cafés in Japan caused a rise in animal trafficking & poaching of these otter species in Asia. Asia isn't an exception: the same will happen anywhere. The more popular an exotic wild species is as a "pet", the more it encourages poaching & trafficking. Even if you can give your exotic animal the best living conditions (which is always more complicated than with a domestic species), this factor will always remain
If you want a pet, you want a domesticated species. If you want a domesticated mustelid (the family otters belongs to), we have one: it's called a "ferret"
Yes, they do require specific care you need to learn about (like any animal, wild or domestic), no they don't look exactly like otters (it's the closest you'll get in domestic animals though) But they're a lot more adapted to live in human houses, and they're not at risk of being poached in the wild. Mostly because like dogs or domestic cats, they don't exist in the wild
helen “trans people are perpetuating gender steriotypes” joyce is now upset that the scientific american is writing about how women were hunters too back in the day, not just mothers and caretakers. feminist win!
I think I found the article!
The influential idea that in the past men were hunters and women were not isn’t supported by the available evidence
Read it if you have the time, it's very interesting.
Reading the article I see why TERFs are mad about it; it explicitly makes the distinction between gender as a social entity and sex as a biological category, and defines biological sex having multiple factors, both of which are anathema to TERF philosophy.
It also includes these fascinating paragraphs about the role of estrogen in different types of physical activity, directly debunking the widespread notion that estrogen is the weak human's hormone and only does weak human things:
Given the fitness world's persistent touting of the hormone testosterone for athletic success, you'd be forgiven for not knowing that estrogen, which females typically produce more of than males, plays an incredibly important role in athletic performance… The estrogen receptor—the protein that estrogen binds to in order to do its work—is deeply ancient. Joseph Thornton of the University of Chicago and his colleagues have estimated that it is around 1.2 billion to 600 million years old—roughly twice as old as the testosterone receptor. In addition to helping regulate the reproductive system, estrogen influences fine-motor control and memory, enhances the growth and development of neurons, and helps to prevent hardening of the arteries. Important for the purposes of this discussion, estrogen also improves fat metabolism. During exercise, estrogen seems to encourage the body to use stored fat for energy before stored carbohydrates. Fat contains more calories per gram than carbohydrates do, so it burns more slowly, which can delay fatigue during endurance activity. Not only does estrogen encourage fat burning, but it also promotes greater fat storage within muscles… which makes that fat's energy more readily available. Adiponectin, another hormone that is typically present in higher amounts in females than in males, further enhances fat metabolism while sparing carbohydrates for future use, and it protects muscle from breakdown. Anne Friedlander of Stanford University and her colleagues found that females use as much as 70 percent more fat for energy during exercise than males. Estrogen's ability to increase fat metabolism and regulate the body's response to the hormone insulin can help prevent muscle breakdown during intense exercise. Furthermore, estrogen appears to have a stabilizing effect on cell membranes that might otherwise rupture from acute stress brought on by heat and exercise. Ruptured cells release enzymes called creatine kinases, which can damage tissues… Linda Lamont of the University of Rhode Island and her colleagues, as well as Michael Riddell of York University in Canada and his colleagues, found that females experienced less muscle breakdown than males after the same bouts of exercise. Tellingly, in a separate study, Mazen J. Hamadeh of York University and his colleagues found that males supplemented with estrogen suffered less muscle breakdown during cycling than those who didn't receive estrogen supplements.
The article also talks about sexual dimorphism in different species, concluding that "Modern humans have low sexual dimorphism compared with the other great apes," and that overemphasis on averages obscures the wide dispersal of individual traits, which is what I keep saying.
Anthropologists also look at damage on our ancestors' skeletons for clues to their behavior. Neandertals are the best-studied extinct members of the human family because we have a rich fossil record of their remains. Neandertal females and males do not differ in their trauma patterns, nor do they exhibit sex differences in pathology from repetitive actions. Their skeletons show the same patterns of wear and tear. This finding suggests that they were doing the same things, from ambush-hunting large game animals to processing hides for leather. Yes, Neandertal women were spearing woolly rhinoceroses, and Neandertal men were making clothing.
I also thought this part was cool :)
PLEASE read this article, this information is incredible for everyone looking to unlearn bioessentialism

thinking of toph and zuko’s life changing field being just toph dragging zuko around the world and making him tell her which guys are attractive or not.
the gaang wants to tag along but toph absolutely refuses because (1) aang and katara literally only have eyes for each other and will never give toph actual input, (2) suki’s inputs are 50% sarcasm, and (3) sokka.
zuko’s the only one she trusts because they both have the same taste in men (see their individual crushes on sokka at some point) but he doesn’t even realize it and just thinks he’s being completely objective
Imma need someone to write this asap because its honestly perfect
