@decayingdarlings
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here
made an mp3 player tie :)) and i can change the music with my button pins hehe >:3
I didn't have hunter biden being the funniest person on twitter in 2026 on my bingo card yet here we are
i need personal mp3 player culture to come back. take my paw we can make a better world
you dont even need to be an audiophile. its ok if you can't tell the difference between an mp3 and a flac. its actually probably better for you if you can't because you can have way more music if you don't care about the compression. but you can own your music. you can listen to it without wifi or cell service, anywhere you want. you can put a bunch of cute stickers or art on your player. you can listen to music without being distracted by the internet. you can use a computer to copy files from a cute girl's mp3 player onto yours and then you can think of her every time you hear it. you can sit in a laundromat and share a pair of earbuds while you listen to that Russkaja song she likes and you don't know any of the words to. there is a better world out there for you and all you have to do is say yes
Pokemon has never had a generation where all three starter pokemon are mammals. Two generations- gens 1 and 3- have had zero mammals, and from gens 5-8 there've been two mammals to pick from, but none have had three mammals. I think this is an important part of the franchise's brand.
Back when gen 8 got leaked someone pointed out that you can generally tell a real GameFreak Pokedex from a fakemon dex by the amount of "ugly" pokemon and the number of invertebrates and inanimate objects, and I think there's a similar thing going on here- Pokemon genuinely makes an effort to make its monsters varied.
The last 15ish years have seen so much ink spilled on the Vanillish line, on gen 1 designs, etc etc, but I think it bears repeating how easy it is for a Mons game to stick to charismatic animals like mammals and birds and dinosaurs and pets. And pokemon does have that (we have, what, six cat lines? more if you count regional meowths) but it also makes sure to add, like. A crinoid. A bagworm. A bell. Creepy humanoid mushrooms, a sand castle, a big iceberg.
Something would be lost if every single pokemon was as cool as Haxorus or as cute as Snom or as furrybait as Goodra. Pokemon succeeds because it lets you be best friends with shit that's just weird.
"ohhh op is telling on herself for calling goodra furrybait" idk maybe you're telling on yourself for how you have no furry friends. do better.

I enjoy a joke about fucked up German fairy tales as much as the next nerd, but it's genuinely striking how often the source for the really fucked up stuff turns out to be "yeah, this is only in the Brothers Grimm version and doesn't appear in any extant oral tradition, and we're like 80% sure they added it themselves". To a large extent it's not German fairy tales that are fucked up, it's two specific German dudes.
in retrospect we probably should have given the fairy tale writing to the Brothers Happy instead
i have a severe case of wanting to escape society to go live in a gothic castle by the sea
what a beautiful time of year everyone is growing veegtables for me spacifically, one problem though you need to make fences shorter im sure its a mistake but i cant reach some of them
hello imptortant message from deer youyr doing it agen. i cant eet the vegbals you are growing for me like this
It's so obvious that a lot of people on here are inexplicably convinced that bad books are a recent invention
getting prescribed a controlled substance is scary because you're at the mercy your doctors and pharmacy vs non controlled substances . If people can understand that about things like adderall, what makes it impossible to understand about testosterone? It's willful ignorance
every time I take an adderall I'm scared that they're going to take it away from me, so I take less sometimes even though I shouldn't have to, /just incase/ something happens and I dont have access to it for awhile
this is something we also deal with as a person who uses medical marijuana and opiates for pain relief. we can't smoke weed and have an opiate prescription without being put on the medical marijuana card system, as well as a national registry tracking anywhere we get our meds filled and when we get it filled. if we don't have the almost $135 to get our mmj card renewed we cannot be seen again by pain management until we do so. it's a very similar concept, and is done on purpose.
disabled people, trans people, mentally ill people, we are all useless eaters to them.
I've posted about this before but back home at my old job I used to get pho so fucking often that the owners of the place stopped asking me what I wanted and stopped handing me menus when I walked in. After I moved to NY and I could only go back to Chicago like once a year, I sat down and they gave me a menu and I was like "Oh no I already know what I want, can I get--" and they were like OHHH #36 WITH EXTRA NOODLES YOU'RE BACK and I almost cried
ASTRO (2019) by Co-Robotics and the ACCRA Project. Astro is an assistive smart robotic platform dedicated to mobility and user interaction. It has been designed for moving within unstructured home and residence environments. The new ASTRO robot is a sturdier version of the earlier ASTROMOBILE (see lower image).
"A new ASTRO design was conceived. The design had to find also a balance between the user requirements and the technical constraints due to the size and the shape of commercial robotic platform (SCITOS G5) and the final height of the handle which should be comparable with the average height of human beings. The new ASTRO is 20 cm shorter than the previous version. In this version, we maintained the smiling face to propose a friendly robot and the same grey colour. The 10" frontal tablet (Samsung, Korea) is mounted on a flexible support with a spherical joint, thus the user is free to adjust the screen. A RGBD camera (ORBBEC, USA) was mounted in correspondence of the neck to mimic a bow-tie. On the back we added a 7" tablet (Samsung, Korea) mounted in the plastic cover and a small camera (NGS, Spain) to monitor the user while he or she is walking. Additionally, force sensors were mounted on the handle to monitor the user force. Finally, ASTRO can bring small objects on his back. This new design of ASTRO was realized with a 3D printer and was made out of 100% of recycled plastic, and all the soft textiles were removed." – Laura Fiorini et al., Co-creation of an assistive robot for independent living: lessons learned on robot design.
Reblog if you’re part of a hostile nation that’s declared war on Australia
Oh my god though guys you don’t know the best thing! The best thing is: he’s right.
The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands is a micronation near Australia. This is their flag:
The Gay Kingdom (as it is colloquially known) was founded in 2004 in protest against Australia’s legal stance against same-sex marriage.
Here are some of their stamps:
They are currently ruled by Emperor Dale I, and their currency is the Pink Dollar.
And, indeed - they declared war on Australia for not recognizing same-sex marriages performed outside the country. (Second link.)
You’re telling me there has been a Gay Island this ENTIRE TIME and I’m only just finding out about it????
WHAT
okay, but not enough people know the details on this. people at pride were upset about gay rights in australia. so they decided to sail 200 miles into the coral sea just ‘cause and put a rainbow flag on a fucking empty island out of spite. and i’m talking empty. no inhabitants. zero. it was a flat piece of land with a bit of dry grass. now it has a camp site and a post office.
they have a declaration of independence that talks a bit about gay rights and then just flat out copies the “life liberty and the pursuit of happiness” part from the american declaration of independence. and here’s the best part: the founding group actually elected their emperor. he was originally going to be called the “administrator” of a republic. their website, however, says that “upon legal advice, his title was changed to that of Sovereign on the grounds that under Australian law a defacto prince trying to claim his crown cannot be charged with treason”. so they made it a kingdom and he now claims to be a descendent of edward ii.
everything about this is glorious and everyone should know about it.
Not one of you mentioned that the anthem for this nation is I Am What I Am by Gloria Gaynor. Not. One. Of. You.
This is the greatest thing I’ve ever read
Highlights from the timeline via wikipedia as this thread is from 2017:
As previously mentioned, the idea originated at Pride (Brisbane 2003) in reaction to punitive anti-marriage legislation
“On the 14th day of June 2004, at this highest point in the Coral Sea, Emperor Dale Parker Anderson raised the gay rainbow flag and claimed the islands of the Coral Sea in his name as homeland for the gay and lesbian peoples of the world. God Save our King!”
The campsite/capital Heaven was named after the London nightclub
War was declared on Australia in September 2004
The aforementioned stamps were issued in July 2006 “with the aim of creating a high and distinctive reputation amongst the philatelic fraternity”
They were never recognized legally/internationally as a micronation (and in fact Anderson refused to attend a conference in 2010 because they weren’t actually trying to be a sovereign nation)
In Feb 2017, Abetz was objecting to the flag of a “hostile nation” being flown
The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands was dissolved in November 2017 (when same-sex marriage was legalized)
