The Final Response

So the Tumblr posts I decided to re-blog were Juxtaposition and Keyword. For the Juxtaposition post I really enjoyed how she gave examples of how her room was juxtaposition and how the she came to the conclusion that this term was a big part of what describes her space. She mentions how she didn’t think any of the texts of resonated with her space. I can’t say she’s wrong because I also can’t think of a text but I do think a lot of the concepts she mentions at the end can be tied to her space. I feel like she has the freedom to do whatever she pleases in her room from décor to the layout of her room. She has the choices present everyday when she enters her space. She has the choice to do what she wants whether it is to watch Disney movies, paint her nails, do her make-up or even take shots in her room. And of course she is a woman so that applies to her automatically. :)

The reason why I decided to reblog Keyword post was because I felt like it was relatable to my post. The word she chose to describe her room was Freedom like me. I like how she starts her post saying that at the beginning she thought that her room was quiet and a place to do homework but since these assignments she has changed her mind. I enjoyed that she did not only have one text but three texts she related to her space. It helped me realized that my space also relates with the text Corners. I enjoyed reading these post because it was interesting to see that how people saw their space differently now at the end of this assignment.

This is the last post of the semester and I have acquired a lot more knowledge on my space. I would have not paid attention to the little things prior to doing these assignments. Reflection Of My Space

It’s finally here our last post of the semester, somewhat bittersweet moment. It’s been a long journey and we are finally at the end. Okay, maybe I’m making it seem like we’ve spent ages working on this assignment. In all seriousness though, I actually enjoyed this assignment. It almost didn’t feel like it was a homework assignment after you started doing which I enjoyed. The key term that best characterizes my space is Freedom. The reason I chose freedom was because I felt that my space represents that term. I can do anything I wish in my room, I can move it around and put whatever I want in it. I get the freedom to do anything without anyone telling what I can and con not do. I think the concept that connected or spoke to my space would be when we went over Antigone. I think this is where it was mentioned that a space was within a bigger space. It got me thinking and I realized my space is a part of some thing bigger. For example, my room is a small space/part within the rest of my apartment. Making my apartment a part of something even bigger and so on. Which I thought was interesting, how this concept played a big role in my space. The text that I thought resonated with my space would most likely be Antigone. In my posts I often refer my space as my kingdom. I think this ties to Antigone because as mentioned before the whole thing about being part of something bigger. In Antigone the kingdom was just a part of something bigger, which was the city of Thebes. I kept imaging my space being the kingdom in Antigone and the rest of the apartments were the city of Thebes.

Memory Lane Collection

So the two posts that I decided to re-blog were In One’s Element and These Are a Few of My Favorite Things. Now the reason what I chose this first post was because it was different than the post I did mine on. I liked how she has pictures that represent what makes her space unique and her own.  I like how she put the picture of the grill; I kind of took that as a symbol for family bond. I started to think about my own family gatherings and the special memories created. The second picture that I really like was the one with the names and drawing on the fence. I think that it brought up the concept of childhood and growth. And finally I think that the dog picture really ties up this post nicely, in my personal opinion I think that pets really do make up a family. I really enjoyed this post because I felt that I could connect with the pictures one way or another. I chose the second post because I felt like there were both similarities and differences. I felt that the similarities we shared were the pictures of the movies. I love movies so that it was unique that she posted a picture of her own collections. She had some of my favorites like Tangled, princess and the Frog, Dumbo, lion king, Beauty and the Beast, and etc. another picture I felt like we had a connection in was the picture which I believe to be candles. I feel like a candle s a need in my space and I think it that candles just bring this calm atmosphere. I absolutely love her nail polish collection it reminds me of home and the memories I have built with my sisters doing manies and pedis. Both posts effected me one way or another.

The Tour Movement

The two posts I decided to reblog were Open Life and My Room In Motion. So the reason I chose to reblog Open Life was mainly because it was different from my own space. So I really enjoyed how her space is outside and not necessarily confined by walls like mine. I felt that her title actually fit really well with her chosen space. Since her space is outside everything is open and you can see the bushes behind the benches, which I thought symbolized life.  I liked that she walked up to her chosen space and gave us a tour. It reminded me of how I was showing my chosen space. I really enjoyed that her space was actually different than what I was expecting or what in my mind I was picturing. I thought it was just her front porch but it wasn’t, it was this big open space with seating area. I thought it was great to see that because you are able to imagine a very social environment.  The second post I decided to reblog was My Room In Motion, now the reason why I chose this post was because it was similar to mine. I liked how she really showed us around her room and the setup. I’m not going to lie; I love the purple in her room because that is my favorite color. So I was automatically drawn to this post. Another similarity I found that we had was the white furniture. Our spaces were similar due to the fact that the walls confine both of our spaces. I really wish that she had shown us what was surrounding her space and kind of gave us a little tour leading into her space. Both spaces were similar and different than mine, which is initially why, I decided to reblog both.

My Room in Motion

This video of my room shows it in a different perspective than any other posts because it is in motion.  This video shows every aspect of my room from my closet, to my bed, to my television.  I had the Giants world series game playing on the tv at the time of this video, because I tend to have Giants games and other shows on while I am in my bedroom.  My tv is an important aspect in my room because I like to watch it when I have time.  Another important aspect of my room, like I have said previously, is my bed, which is shown in this video.  You can see the pattern of my comforter, and pillows, and the size very well in this video.  I chose to keep my video silent because there is usually no sound unless it is my music or television playing.  The only other sound that enters my room is the voices of people coming from other parts of the house.  This video expresses my room very well because it shows all of the parts that I have explained in my previous posts as being important to me.

Open Life

In this video I show the space I have chosen for the semester, which is the front right side of my home. This space is very important in the in that it is a location that many of the people living in the house spend time together bonding. This location is also close to the other yellow house to the right which also happens to be the home of other close friends. The video start of on the front side walk of the yellow side house leading up to the thin inner side walk connecting both homes that I also showed in a previous post. This sub space is different yet one in the same with my space. Like I had stated in my previous post it is an open space that connects my personal space, which isn’t so private in that it is open space, but is also quite open in terms of boundaries creating a sub space.

Once I reach my actual space I walk up on of the three entrances to my space. The benches I show are the benches we all living in the house sit on and enjoy each other’s time and company. These benches are also only separated from the side house by short bushes that one is easily able to look over, showing the connections of spaces. The video then ends after I show the remaining benches, the second and third entry way, as well as semi aerial view of my full space.

Pathway to the Kingdom

So I did not fully narrate this video so I will meet the requirements as much as possible. So to begin our journey I decided to start from the outside and make my way into the inside. As you can tell I recorded while it was dark outside so you weren’t able to see the scenery outside leading into my apartment. You can see that there is a pathway was you come up to the apartment if it were light you’d be able to see the plants, grass, trees and of course other apartments. As we get closer you are able to see the stairs leading to the upper level apartments. Finally inside the apartment we have the living room, as you recall from the post before the couch is actually green. Right off the living we take a quick look down the dining and kitchen and we start traveling down the small hallway leading to my chosen space. We have finally arrived to my domain. As you can see the layout is different, I have changed it twice since we first began this little project. As you take a look inside you can see the things that make up my room. You see my calendar for a second then you can see my TV and drawers you see my bed bookcase and lastly my desk. They all incorporate something significant in my room. I do go back to my bed because as I mentioned before this is what makes my room important. Being able to have the comfort of a bed. My room has entertainment, knowledge, and comfort.

Space Response Part 3

So the three posts I decided to reblog were Big Yellow and Open, Bedroom Layout, and My Happy Place.  I choose these three for different reasons. In the post Big Yellow and Open she put a picture of a map with an arrow of where the location of special observation. I also liked how she included a picture of the front porch. I think it is important that she out the picture because now we know that her space is outside and not in the inside. I like how she says that her space is open to everyone and it’s not a place that can be personal. I like how she enjoys having friends over in this open space which ironically is open to everyone. The second blog I choose was Bedroom Layout the reason I choose this blog was because it was most relatable to my post. The only difference was that she just drew her room layout. I like how she tells us specifically where everything is located in her room. Although I wish she had mentioned what was the most important piece is in her room. I do like that in the first blog I reposted she said that she had no boundaries because of the open space and on this blog she mentions that her walls are the boundary. They are like the opposite but at the same because both locations are in a home. The third reblog was My Happy Place I actually enjoyed the caption for this post. I like how she tells us that she details on the things that are important and make up the room. I enjoyed her saying how the record player makes her happy. I can relate to her because I also believe that music really makes people happy in general. I enjoyed reading that things like her record collection, coffee, and candles just define this open yet closed and cozy space.

My Happy Place

I drew my map from a birds eye view because I think it best depicted the way that I organized my space and which areas mean more to me. I kept it true to scale as much as possible and added in small details of items that mean the most to me. I added in a coffee cup, candles and my record collection because these are things that make my days happier and objects that are constantly a defining part of my space. I think this map shows how open my space is, but also how it’s a cozy and comforting place to pass the time.

Bedroom Layout

I drew a picture from the elevated view of my bedroom. I wanted to give everyone an idea about the layout in my space. Depending on the use of the term “up”, the direction of it can either be everyone’s view since the drawing is from an aerial view or “up” can be translated as north, in which case my closet is the most northern point. The boundaries of my space are my walls, which are drawn in black. I included all of the furniture in my space since they are the things that hold all of my smaller possessions.

Big, Yellow and Open

My space is in the front right sitting area in the house to the left. Taking into account that this is east Fourth Street “up” or north would be if one was facing the front of the street while in my space. Some important parts to look at in my space is the yellow house to the right that also is home to a lot of my friends. This house has an inner walk way separate from the side walk that leads to my home and space. Which is nice because friends are welcome to come over when they please and enjoy my space as well. With the inner walk way connecting both homes my space has a large sub space creating an extension of boundaries. Being that it is an open space its boundaries are up for interpretation, the part of my space that I write about is that open corner on the right of the house on the left. But being that it is an open space and both homes being connected all, including passer byers on the sidewalk, are free to peek, hear, come into my space. With it being an open space, this can be on purpose or not. I included the inner walk way, side walk and house to the right to show how my personal space is quite open in terms of boundaries and personally non personal it in reality is.
