About the Blog
May 21st, 2026 update
Welcome to the described-images blog!
We love an alt description! Unfortunately not all images come with one. And platform supports are not always enough for everyone.
No one should NEED to ask for accommodations, but everyone is on the internet so it’s hard to predict what will be best for all. Image descriptions are an attempt to build a more accessible world.
If you rely on a screen reader, please check the, Screen read users please help, Tag, if you’d like to offer your opinions on questions I’ve had.
Also check out @accessible-art for image descriptions of non-fandom art!
Feel free to make requests. I’m willing to describe anything of importance to screen read and voice over users. This includes A.I. generated images. If it’s not safe for work or offensive to even a tumblr audience, we’ll talk then.
My main problem running this blog is that I forget time because I can’t feel it. Skull emoji. Sorry if I get stuff done late.
Shout out to @satanfemme who introduced me to described images on Tumblr.
Thanks for reading. Sparkle-on, Emoji.
Current learning projects:
Checking descriptions in screen reader twice or more.
Playing with punctuation and capitalization to enhance the cadence or tone of descriptions.
Playing with both voice over and screen reader.
READING. ACTUAL. Freakin, guides on writing descriptions.
Projects on the back burner:
Fixing the tag system. I may switch from the tag Described Memes to, Accessible Memes. For now I will use both.
