Half the backlash to fat lib content essentially boils down to "I can't believe you're FORCING me to not be mean to you"
Thin people are absolutely relentless with this. "But I have to TELL them!" "I can't just not SAY something!" "We can't just PRETEND it's fine to be fat!"
They really seem to think the main reason people are fat is because we're simply drowning in approval and no one has been brave enough to inform us that it's better to not be fat, actually
I genuinely think it's related to what I observe about singleness, virginity, and ace/aro topics: people's entire worldviews are threatened by fat liberation. And having your worldview challenged is scary... especially because so many people have put so, so much personal effort into Not Being Fat, so much self-hate into gaining weight, so much self-denial of food they like and forcing themselves into activities they hate, to avoid being fat.
And fat liberation says "It's okay to be fat!" and fat people say "I'm happy being fat and I don't try to become skinny!"
And it scares people that that is an option. It scares people to think that they have sunk so much time, so much effort, so much misery into avoiding being fat. And this person in front of them is just... not even trying. Rejecting the game. Saying You Don't Have To Do That.
If they accept that they didn't have to do that... then they made themselves so unhappy, for so long, for no reason.
They want their effort, their unhappiness, to have been worth it. To have meant something.
So they have to believe that being fat is wrong, bad, gross, a moral failing, and the only reason anyone would be happy that way is if they just don't know better. Because the other option is to realize and admit that they suffered unnecessarily for years and it meant nothing at all.
I love the use of the phrase 'some strange alchemy' as a descriptor for a process you don't understand.
'Through some strange alchemy(crochet) they turned a bundle of yarn into a stuffed giraffe'
'Through some strange alchemy(bad cooking) they turned a perfectly marinated steak into a charcoal briquet'
'Through some strange alchemy(good cooking) they turned a pile of slop into the fluffiest bread loaf I'd ever seen'
'Through some strange alchemy(bad reading comprehension) they took my polite statement and turned into a disgusting act against the poor'
and so on
PHRASE ADDED!
ISOLATE DISCOVERED!
"Through some strange alchemy (process you don't understand)"
do you have any advice?
eat a protein heavy breakfast. don’t shop on shein. it’s never too late to get more educated. tell people you love them. listen to birds. go to an old growth forest. get really good at something, just to see if you can.
Now if Iron Lung the movie gets a Blu-ray release, I suggest adding in the director's commentary starting with "Hello everybody, my name is Markiplier..." and also Markiplier in the corner.
#the person behind me in the theatre offered me a tiny paper markiplier #and a toothpick and some tape so that i could tape him to my glasses #so for the entire film i had an extremely blurry tiny paper markiplier in the corner of my vision #and it actually enhanced the experience i think #shoutout to the person behind me for printing too many markipliers and offering him to my friends and I #genuinely made my night it was so wonderful LOL #iron lung

I think it's hilarious that hands down the worst way to learn magic is the actual rulebook. Please do not read that. It's just there for reference when something weird happens
posts that i know are about magic the gathering but i have to check to make sure op isn't just living in a way doper world than me
A father with his 4 daughters, 1904
Raymond Schuyler and Four of his Children, photographed by William Bullen (link is to an article with historical context, especially about the use of these family photographs as a counterweight to racist images of Black Americans and the Black family.)
[the child in the striped hat is most likely his son Stephen]
"A native of Troy, New York, Raymond Schuyler migrated to Worcester in 1887 to work for the Worcester Wire Works and later worked for the Boston and Main Railroad. Active in All Saints Episcopal Church, the Masons, and Knights of Pythias, Schuyler was the oldest member of the Worcester Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People when he died in 1956. Raymond and his wife, Rose Bates, had nine children, two of whom died as children. Given the uncertainty around the photograph’s date, the only child who can be confidently identified is Stephen, their oldest son." E.132.16.75

Vancouver Public Library
I LOVE LIBRARIES!!
My library does “stuffed animal sleepovers” where kids leave their stuffed animals at the library overnight. Then the staff lets teenagers in after-hours to arrange the stuffed animals into fun scenes and take a bunch of pictures for the library’s social media. And then the little kids come back the next day and get to see all the pictures of their stuffed animals reading, playing games, riding around the library on book carts, etc 🥹
internet politics and real-world politics have gotten so separated, and pretty soon all this internet weirdness is gonna come crashing into real life and politicians are gonna start throwing around words like “SJW” and “anime communist” and “dark enlightenment” and it’s just gonna be the most ridiculous fucking thing
date of origin: 13th of april, 2015.
happy 10 year anniversary!
This post.
This fucking post.
It is in some ways, the only piece of evidence I have that there was a time Before.
might fuck around and post my OC’s again…………
I’ll one day make pretty bio pages for them, but here’s the gist of them from left to right!
🎀 Valentina the Creator - 18 - she/her - The human creator of the other characters, who are her childhood Imaginary Friends that she has since forgotten many years ago. Eventually starts being visited by a mysterious figure in her nightmares, who provides odd comfort to her in the throes of her suffering. Through them, they find an Imaginary Realm where she has unlimited powers that scare her, as well as scaring some of the inhabitants there while others worship her. She represses her powers with an enchanted ribbon on her head and limits herself only to small and necessary wishes. Reconnects with her old Imaginary Friends and tries to make them as happy as possible with gifts to make up for forgetting them. Likes fashion, cats and fuzzy pens. Undiagnosed OCD with violent intrusive thoughts.
☔️ Trace the Wizard - 19 - they/them - A hermit Imaginary Friend that was created by mixing a DIY backyard potion during a rainy day. They’re now a wizard that mixes their own potions and use the many ghostly arms sprouting out their back to speed up their output. After Trace meets a horde of secret magical sheep that make sure nightmares don’t leak too much into their world, they start entering directly into the minds of humans and harvesting them for powerful brewing ingredients. Has complicated feelings on humanity as a whole that lean negative, but still can’t help caring about Valentina when they accidentally stumble on her having night terrors and ends up comforting her. Likes umbrellas and sleeps very poorly. Does not like old baby photos of themself. Lives inside a haunted painting.
☀️ Anahi the Angel - 25+ - she/her - An Imaginary Friend who was created to chase sunsets and moons on top of phone landlines while her creator was looking out the car window. Wears her and Trace’s old childhood wings and halos that they have since outgrown. Can no longer fly very well, but instead roller skates on top of rainbows that her body can magically produce. Works full-time as a delivery girl in the Imaginary Realm. Quite literally needs attention to survive or she’ll wither like a flower, so she might do things just to have eyes on her. Admires humans, especially women, and wishes for them to admire her back. Quickly forgives Valentina for forgetting her and accepts all her gifts with gusto. Likes 70’s fashion, and hates being inside cars (she will get out and start skating next to it). Has only four fingers.

Okay I JUST realized I never posted these on here—- BUT BASICALLY, about a year and a half ago I started doing these experimental black hairstyle posts that were threads long on Twitter, to give artists a source of inspo for their black ocs whose hair they wanted to try something new with! There’s more to black hair than just the selected styles portrayed in media, and I thought it would be fun to show people how much texture, shape, fades, length, and style can be combined when drawing black hair—-cause it’s a kind of manipulation our hair can do irl! The OG posts were lost with the hacking of my original Twitter account (@/bagels_donuts) but I’ve since reuploaded the whole thread to my new Twitter (@/ItsDonutsFR)! I hope artists on tumblr find these useful, sorry it took me so long to post them here😭🙏🏾 I’ll upload them all in parts!

The moment I saw these double doors in our apartment, I knew I wanted to put colorful foil on them:
Today my wife did it, and I couldn't be more stunned and happy:
Isn't it amazing? This is a dream come true, and it makes me so happy! 🩵🧡💚💛💙❤️🩷
The doors continue to delight:
(pics taken as the sun shines through the doors, making all the colors shine and projecting some of them across the hallway floor) (edited this reblog to add a second pic)
This post is almost at 11,111 notes and I hope someone screenshots it when it happens!
@purlturtle here you are I got it for you!
what if I told you that I am RIVETED to my notifications at the moment, for fear that I will miss it
The galaxy map of this post's reblogs is a thing of beauty:
This isn't a post from a big blog that a ton of people reblogged from that one big blog. This isn't even a post that got big because one big blog reblogged it. Yes, there were a few big-name boosts, but almost all of these reblogs are just, this post ambling through Tumblr making people happy.
And that makes *me* happy. Thank you, fellow Tumblrinas!
Y'all.
My wife found this incredible rug to go into the living room, that matches the doors so so so well!
Isn't it fabulous?

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
