Decided to create this side account for reblogging things other than art, such as memes, critical posts I agree with, or relatable stuff. I might also ocassionally reblog artworks that I like but have a higher number of likes (since the art I share on my main is mostly from artists that I think actually need more support). I might also share random stuff or self-made memes from time to time, and maybe some pics of Simba my cat. We'll see.
UPDATE MARCH 2026: This is now officially also where I'll do my movie and show "reviews" from now on (between quotation marks because they're FAR from professional or even tidy reviews, I'll literally just give my thoughts on movies and/or shows when I feel like it and if I have enough to say xD)
I probably won't promote this sideblog's existence on my main blog as much as I do with my OC one, since I'd like it to be relatively chill and private. But if you're here, make yourself at home, and remember to be nice.
No but a lot of stupid discussions in this fandom would end if people sat down and actually familiarized themselves with any of the genres/media ML is pulling all its material from.
"Marinette's motivations revolve around Adrien, the writers clearly prioritize him" ML is a romance. The female leads in those almost invariably have motivations connected to their love interests. That doesn't suddenly mean said female leads stop being main characters, or that the writers are centering their LI over them.
"Does Adrien deserve to hand out Miraculous" Handing out Miraculous shouldn't even be a thing, wtf are you on about? No team-based show allows characters to pick and choose their teammates.
"Marinette should take away this character's Miraculous" See above, with added 'Y'all have gotten too comfortable with Marinette having insane amounts of power over her teammates pretty much no other superhero is ever afforded.'
"You're getting mad that Adrien was kept out of the final fight and Marinette lying to him when you had no problem with Harry Osborn" Harry didn't have powers, so him not being in the final fight made sense. Also, the lie ended with Harry becoming a full-on supervillain, so unless you want to imply Adrien's going to become the next Hawk Moth, you're not making the comparison you think you're making.
"Marinette constantly embarrasses herself, the writers must hate her" If she was any other hero, yelling at a girl over petty romantic drama in the middle of a public park would end with a video of that outburst being all over the internet, Nadja running a news segment on why she's not qualified to have superpowers, and losing the spellbook just for good measure.
There are also a lot of those arguments that completely ignore the story structure and narrative roles.
So many arguments that are some variation of "Marinette comes across badly while Adrien doesn't suffer the same issues" can be answered with "that's because she has more screen time and focus."
She makes more mistakes? That's because mistakes are the inciting incident in most episodes and requires the character to fix those mistakes by the end. That means at least one of the plots of the episode needs to be dedicated to that character and often it just serves as a focus episode to them. Now count the number of episode that focus on Marinette vs ones that focus on any other character, including Adrien.
She constantly embarrasses herself? That's the comedy part of the rom-com. Comedy protagonists are the most common punchline in their shows. This goes double when the protagonist does morally dubious things, because then making them the punchline makes them a likeable character rather than a grating one.
Her love quest attempts are portrayed as jokes while Adrichat's attempts are portrayed seriously? Adrichat's feelings are given a few focus episodes where they're treated seriously and are barely mentioned the rest. Marinette's feelings are mentioned almost every episode and are often used as the plot shenanigans. Those are the jokes. In the episodes where her feelings get focus rather than being part of the normal status quo of shenanigans, that's when they're treated seriously.
She makes serious bad decisions while Adrien is perfect? That's because she's given the agency to make decisions while Adrien isn't allowed to be much more than the passive princess. When would he even have the opportunity to make bad decisions with the same magnitude as Maribug's? Nevermind that when a main character makes a bad decision like this, it requires follow up exploration to see the consequence, which once again requires screen time.
Marinette is always blamed for things that aren't her fault? Because she's the one always in focus and so the one who always has to learn the lesson of the day. The writers fudge things so that the inciting incident and the lesson learned are vaguely in line with one another to keep the episode structure which results in Marinette often taking responsibility over things that weren't directly her fault but that she kinda made a mistake in that general vicinity.
I've even seen people pointing at Maribug facing any obstacles at all as proof that the writers want to humiliate her. Which is nonsense because facing obstacles is just a function of being a main character.
So many of those "proof that the writers hate Marinette" are actually the result of the writers liking her too much and never allowing anyone else in the spotlight. As a result she ends up having to fulfill so many competing narrative roles over almost all the episodes and so she gets everything. All the mistakes, all the glazing, all the embarrassment, all the character exploration, all the bad decisions, all the agency, all the obstacles and all the awesome moments.
All of those things could be mitigated, if not outright solved, by having proper cast focus and allowing Adrien to be Mariette's equal.
"I have to tell Adrien the truth because the guilt is eating me alive"
"What if Adrien is overcome with emotions and he kisses me?"
"If I don't tell Adrien the truth I'll have to break up with him"
and never
"It would put Adrien in danger if no one tells him that he could die if his amoks end up in the wrong hands"
"Adrien needs closure and time to grieve after both his parents died"
"I don't care if I'm the villain, Adrien deserves to know the truth"
like. it's not hard. The bar isn't even there since this type of story arc isn't new and there's probably many, many articles/books/site pages that can tell you beat for beat how this plot should go. ML writers but the bar on the floor and then started to dig a hole big enough for them to stand around and congratulate themselves underneath it.

Yeah, like, Marinette's motivations have been NOTHING but selfish throughout this entire plotline. It's all about how tough things are on HER, how SHE'S feeling about all this and what the consequences might be TO HER. Like, boohoo, cry me a river. AND she IS crying, constantly, in almost every episode, mascara smeared and tears on her face, ugly crying about how hard lying to Adrien is when SHE ALONE made the decision to do so, against everyone else's advice not to.
At what point are we expected to stop caring?! And the writers think this is GOOD writing.
The kind of movie the marketing made me think "Hoppers" was going to be VS. The kind of movie it actually was:
Further thoughts/mini review below the cut, beware of mild/indirect spoilers.
I mean yes, it was definitely way sillier than "The Wild Robot" and had a lot of unhinged and comedic moments as the marketing promised, but I honestly wasn't expecting it to have as much heart and emotion as it did, or that I'd end up loving it so much. 🥲🤎 I fully walked in expecting a "turn your brain off with this whacky adventure" kind of movie and ended up TEARING UP in at least 3 separate times. 😭
Could it at least partially be because the whole "socially awkward girl with no siblings but with a special and close relationship with her grandmother whom she takes care of in old age" thing hit VERY close to home to me?
Maybe. Maybe. 🥲
I don't even fully relate to Mabel TBH but I did see WAY more of myself in her than I expected, and even regardless of that, she was an AMAZINGLY written character, I think she's one of my fav Pixar protagonists and characters now.
And the characters I thought were going to be super annoying like King George, Tom Lizard, Loaf, Ellen, etc. were actually great. Heck, even the antagonist mayor ended up being more fun to watch than I initially thought xD The "final boss" villain though (I won't spoil who it is, but if you've seen the film you'll know who I'm talking about) was actually TERRIFYING, but in a good way. And yes, my theater DID gasp at THAT scene, his "villain origin moment" if you will. Like, WOW. It was funny and shocking at the same time. 😅
Also, I may not have that much knowledge of the "We Bare Bears" franchise, since the most I've seen are a couple isolated episodes here and there and then random clips online, but even with that, I thought this had Daniel Chong's seal all over it, from the character designs to the tone and humor and settings. And that's coming from a VERY casual viewer. In fact, this film kinda made me want to check out a bit more of WBB, I might have been missing out on something x)
Lastly I just want to say that I LOVE the way the film handled its themes and messages, particularly the one about trust and second chances. I feel like nowadays, most animated shows and movies either go the "Everyone is actually good and nice inside and can be redeemed if you just talk to them!" or "If this person has a different point of view than yours they're PURE EVIL and don't even deserve a chance to be reasoned with!" (even my favorite animated show of all time, TOH, fell into the latter). I thought this film reached a VERY good middle ground about it that's actually a lot more applicable to real life. That's all I'm going to say because I don't want to give any big spoilers, it's much better when you see it in the film yourself xD
Overall, this movie was very refreshing and a super pleasant surprise to me. I love how invested I felt and how well the characters and themes were handled. It was also funny (mostly) without being mind-numbing or treating its audience like idiots the majority of the time (bombastic side-eye to you, Minions 🙄)
I give it a 9/10. VERY recommended. 👍 Well done, Pixar. 👏
Many people online: How come we never get gender-reversed Beauty and the Beast? I don't think we're EVER gonna get a story where a man sees beyond a woman's appearance and falls in love with her because of her inner beauty! 🙄😤
Me:
Obviously Elphaba isn't monstrous like the typical B&tB trope many want. But she IS shunned and villainized by her society bc of her looks, and Fiyero IS a gorgeous man who falls for her inner beauty AND becomes a better man for her. Anyways don't sleep on my pookies, people 🤧
As if two acapella KPDH medleys posted on the same day by two completely unrelated channels I'm subscribed to wasn't a big enough coincidence, they were also uploaded publicly at roughly the same time, AND both of them also happened to have excluded "Free" and "Takedown"...
WHAT!???
You guys should listen to both BTW, they're really good and these people are really talented. 👌 (Even if I'm a little salty "Free" and "Takedown" got left out in both of these, but what can I do, LOL)
Today I saw these near the entrance of a clothing store we went to (first time I see KPDH merch that's not obviously a bootleg in the wild BTW), and I got SO HYPED for a moment... until I noticed they're kid sized. 😑
Darn companies who refuse to make cool stuff like this for adults! 💢 Their loss TBH, they're the ones missing out on my adult nerd money.
Other countries (mostly US & UK from what I've seen): We have SO much Wicked merch! Wicked collabs! Overstated, understated! Fanmade, official! Clothes, accesories, stationary, get them on your soup and soap! Green and pink EVERYTHING! WICKED MERCH 4 LIFE!! 💚🩷🧹🫧✨
My country: Wicked? 🤨 What's Wicked? 🤔 Oh yeaaaah, THAT movie! Uhm, I thiiiiink we still have one screening? Maybe???

Since the singing voices of Huntr/x have been doing a lot of stuff together lately and are doing more and more live performances, I really hope one day they'll get to perform a song from the film other than "Golden". 😬
Don't get me wrong, I still love "Golden", but I think we can all agree it's become a bit overhyped and overplayed at this point and has hogged 99% of the attention (it's basically become the new "Let It Go" let's be real), and the other songs could use some public spotlight too.
I'm just saying, "How It's Done" or "What It Sounds Like" would go SO HARD in a live performance or concert.
A video I very much agree with. Everyone is in the right to have and express any negative or positive feelings towards companies, studios, or franchises as they like. But please let's remember to not ruin the fun for other people or shame/harass others for what they enjoy. It is that simple. 🙏✨
