Happy Pride!
Every pride, you must reblog this. No exceptions
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.
reading guards! guards!. why did no one tell me about lady sybil ramkin until now.
Suddenly got hit with the concept plus a very detailed visual of Moist von Lipwig donning his famous Postmaster General suit via magical girl transformation. And now I am supposed to go about my day? As if I hadn't just experienced what I can only describe as a divine vision??
MAGRAT GARLICK!^^
god, i wish i could have a list of what terry pratchett was reading when he wrote Night Watch. iâve read this book almost every year for probably 15+ years now, and every year iâm more impressed by the depth of knowledge behind it. of course thereâs urban design understanding, but he also concisely laid out a lot of concepts in civ-mil relations, the specific difficulties of fighting in urban environments without defined combatants and noncombatants, anti-escalation conflict management, the tension and symbiosis of idealists and those working within an imperfect system needing practicality, civil society and public service, community policing⌠just to name a few, and just the ones iâve dived into myself. iâm not surprised when i see this kind of writing come from like CSIS or USIP or think tanks, and of course all of terryâs writing is very smart and displays good knowledge of the world, but it is remarkable to have it in a fantasy book about a time-traveling policeman in a vague les miserables backdrop, and to have it to the degree i keep recognizing more and more
Oh no, I drew a picture again that has almost no decent pieces lol
Oh no, @alasdair-ya what have you done

alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

When my mother forgets a wordďżź, she is the queen of coming up with new words. Words that would take a third National Treasure movie to fully decipher.ďżź I was talking to her yesterday, and she said this: âYou know the time for los jibbities is coming upďżź. You must be so excited!âďżź Oh, is it time for los jibbities already?ďżź I must have missed it on my calendar. ďżźAre we celebrating something? âOf courseďżź! We should all be celebrating, shouldnât we?â ďżźOK, so los jibbities is a happy thing.ďżź Itâs not like something is giving you the heebie-jeebies, which would have been my one and only guess.ďżź âLos heebie-jeebies? Now youâre making things up.ďżź..and this is my show.â Youâre right. The time for los jibbities is coming upďżź. Is this a season? âYes, the season for love. The season for pride.âďżź OK, los jibbities. âYeah, sound it out.â LosâŚjibbities. LGBTs! âSĂ, mira cuz youâre gay!â âYou couldnât just say pride season? You couldnât just⌠*laughs*
HAPPY LOS JIBBITIES EVERYBODY!!!
The time for Los Jibbities has arrived!

Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as âproblematicâ in class and our professor was like, âThatâs cool, but âproblematicâ doesnât really mean anything. It means that the thing youâre describing has a problem, and in and of itself thatâs not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else itâs not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like youâre trying to say that this is bad, but you donât want to say âbad.â Is that right?â
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the âbadâ thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, âIâm uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.â
Once we stopped calling things âproblematicâ and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, âthatâs racistâ or âthatâs misogynisticâ or âew capitalism grossâ out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, âUhhh... Iâm not sure whatâs so bad?â and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I canât help but think of this professor being like, âGood starting point, now letâs get specific.â I think when we have to commit to saying âthatâs ___â it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever weâre claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes itâs art, and it should be full of problems, because thatâs what art is.
#'this is present in the text' is often a good first step #but those second and third ones (naming it; describing its function) are vital (via @elucubrare)
awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
would be remiss not to mention that the rainbow notably straight up just removed the trans flag colors from it. like theyâre gone. itâs the progress flag minus the trans flag colors.
thatâs not the whole flag, now is it
hey staff what the fuck
hey staff don't you think you're being too on-the-nose
HEY STAFF DONT YOU THINK YOU'RE BEING TOO ON-THE-NOSE
