Granny Appreciation Post Time đ€©
-DROVE from KCMO to Kentucky once a week, every week for two years just to babysit me while my parents worked/did school
-Got arrested for speeding once with my auntie and sat in the jail cell with her hair done and holding her little black purse until my grandpa came and picked her up.
-Could whoop ANYBODYâS ass at Sorry, Aggravation, Kingâs Corners, War, Slap Jack (she didnât take her rings off), Qwirkle, Rook, Trash, etc
-Dealt with my grandpa (/negative) for 50+ years
-Could ride a horse better than anybody within a 20 mile radius of her
-Cooked a MEAN breakfast, brunch, lunch, snack, supper, and dinner
-Was the Queen of Hospitality. You showed up at Grannyâs you didnât leave without a full belly and having been soundly whooped at Yahtzee at least twice.
-Did I mention she put up with my grandpa (/negative) for 50+ years? I hate that old bastard.
-Had the true spirit of her Irish family in that she took no shit from anybody (except the old bastard but she didnât have much of a choice)
-Taught me how to make my bed properly (the âOld Lady Wayâ she called it)
-Called me her sweet princess right up until the last time I saw her
-She was like if an angel became human for a lifetime and she knew it too. She was always smiling, no matter what.
-Taught me that a house is just a building if thereâs no joy or laughter in it
-Asked me if I was finally gaining weight because Iâd gotten super skinny for a while (got sick)
-Kept a massive glass of peanut butter m&ms on her desk next to where she wrote all of her letters.
I miss her so bad. She used to let me lay on her lap as she played with my hair with her long natural nails that she kept perfectly manicured. She would hum and I would fall asleep on her legs like I was a little kid again. She had a handful of grandkids but I was the oldest and we shared a special bond because she helped raise me during the first few years of my life.
She loved everyone with her whole heart and made no secret of it. Anyone who comes across this, I want you to know
My Granny would have loved you unconditionally too.
