Oh, Baby: Five Reasons Why Everyone Should Watch Jane The Virgin
by Sasha Clark
Initially, the premise of the television show sounded ridiculous to me. A virgin who gets pregnant via artificial insemination? No, thanks. It seemed like an over-the-top piece of soap opera schlock. Two seasons and four episodes later, I am not only eating my words, but chewing them up and spitting them out. Jane The Virgin is an intelligent, well-constructed and creative show; and arguably, one of the best and most important shows on television today. Here are my top five reasons why:

Gimme A Bacon Burger (With A Side Of Chemo)
by Sasha Clark
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently issued a statement saying that the consumption of animals, and especially processed meats, leads to cancer. Naturally, this caused quite a stir on the internet. CNN reported that Twitter was full of “smug” responses from vegetarians. Okay, so maybe they shouldn’t have done a happy dance while singing, “We told you so!” But they have a right to get excited: seventy years after British animal rights advocate Donald Watson coined the term “vegan” (insert trivia: by combining the first three letters and the last two letters of the word vegetarian), nay-sayers may finally start taking plant-based diets seriously. The WHO’s report might just be the straw that broke the carnivores’ back.

Generation Y? More like Generation Y Not... Be Frugal!
Okay, that was a bit of a stretch. Still, this is worth the read.
Rain on roof outside window, gray light, deep covers and warm blankets. Rain and nip of autumn in air; nostalgia, itch to work better and bigger. That crisp edge of autumn.

Be The Ballot: Why America’s Youth Needs To Step Up And Be Heard
by Sasha Clark
I used to think that politics were about as thrilling as a bag of unsalted macadamia nuts. Whenever my friends or family members discussed political issues, I remained silent and impartial. I’m sure there are young people out there who share my apathy. Perhaps they feel that politics are too boring, too complicated, or too corrupt. For those people I have three words: get over it!

Something New
by Raphael Rigaud
A couple months in, I finally decided that District Feed was missing something. So last week, I bought a camera, downloaded a bunch of Adobe applications, and taught myself how to make a video. My first victim was somebody who wasn't new to District Feed. In fact, I still get "comment" notifications on an article Sasha wrote about Karl three months ago. Karl "With a K", as people call him, moved from the Bronx to the District and has been making big moves ever since. Already a published author, Karl's relentless spirit to get his name out encouraged me to work with him.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
It is no longer okay to just sit around, even if you're getting work done. The act of "just sitting around" could take years off of your life: but it's not too late. Read more to find out what you can do to stay active, even in the office.
