Nothing more painful than when a kind stranger tells you about some random AI feature in a way that is clearly meant to be helpful and you have to choose between nodding along in despair or turning wokezilla 3000 on them
do you ever want 95% of a fandom to shut the fuck up
Only always.
“Haha remember when murder-hornets were gonna be a thing? What a nothingburger.”
Yes, because the Washington state government activated like a sleeper-cell and ruthlessly, systematically hunted them down and annihilated them.
“Y2K came to nothing amirite?”
Yes because an army of software engineers working around the clock, losing sleep, and busting ass till the last minute prevented it from happening.
“Remember the hole in the ozone layer?”
You mean the one that was fixed through rigorous world wide government action?
One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.
The good news is this is actually quite correctable. I maintain my firm belief that we as humans are capable of solving almost all of our problems, when we decide to do so.
And I still think that’s going to happen. I don’t know when or how, but I do know that abandoning hope won’t help bring it about.
And I refuse to let the cynics own a chunk of my heart.
Happy Smallpox Eradication Day
Oh "remember that hole in the ozone? Guess that was all a lie"
It's because governments around the globe collectively banned CFCs that was destroying the ozone layer, which allowed it to repair itself.
And I'm tired of it being brought up as "nothing came of it" in response to climate change
Nothing came of it because we came together as a species and did something about it, Karen

“get it all on record now. get the films. get the witnesses, because somewhere down the road of history, some bastard will get up and say that this never happened.” - Dwight David Eisenhower, 1945 (cit. @jefftiedrich.bsky.social)
It’s sad that they have to do this but it’s also good they are doing it. This may end up being my a new normal for artist applications.
No matter how you feel about the next 24 hours, the season, rituals, religions, or what have you, remember this: Family is what you make of it, traditions are not laws, and your own happiness is important too. Have fun. Enjoy yourself. Do it in your own way, and let others do the same. It's not hard, and there's room for all.

Don't care didn't ask plus here's a beautifully animated ad for a French supermarket that was made by actual artists
Today is my 10 year anniversary as a vegetarian. The second best thing that's ever happened to me, and the best thing I've ever done for myself, and for the world. Stop eating and wearing animals, people. You can't imagine how much happier and healthier you will be.
