Something needs to be done about teachers who hate kids tbh
My sister is currently getting her doctorate in child psychology & education, but years ago she worked as a substitute english teacher at a high school in nyc. She spent half a year subbing for a woman who was out for surgery, and had been teaching english there for years and years. Most of the kids in this class were remedial; they had failed english before and had to retake it. Most of them hated the class, and they hated literature, because they had been made to feel unintelligent. My sister decided to introduce them to poetry, which was a little easier to digest than long form prose, and had them read Robert Frost's "Fire and Ice." And the kids loved it! They connected with it, they were spirited and engaged in class for the first time all year. They wrote their own poetry! They started seeking out and reading poetry on their own! They were all on track to get a C, B or A in that class. And then the original teacher returned and failed every single student, to "teach them all a lesson". That was the moment my sister decided to go into administration so she could hopefully prevent that sort of thing from happening. But it's difficult. Despite numerous complaints from parents and other teachers, that teacher had a job there for decades. She continued to have a job there. There are a lot of teachers like her, wielding power and taking their frustrations out on kids, especially disabled and remedial kids. And students have so few advocates in the classroom.
This post has turned into teachers complaining that this behavior is understandable because of burnout, low wages, etc and like. Ok then quit lmao. If you treat my kid like this because of "burnout" I'm gonna burn out your fucking teeth

Child Hood MemoriesĀ you have to reblog if when you saw this you heard the man say it in your head
*cries*
Itās etched in thereā¦
honestly tho that scene in the incredibles where mr. incredible sees the names of all the old super heroes that used to be his friends / that he knew from Back in the Day and how every one of them has been killed by syndrome is such a chilling scene for so many reasonsĀ
like for one, everyone he knew is dead at this point and has been killed on the same island heās at now and two, its heartbreaking bc that means that almost every heroĀ wanted to try out being a hero again despite the laws against it and wanted to try and help someone out and relive their glory days, only to be straight up murdered like fuck that scene is just so fuckin intense
I think the core of that scene for me is, when youāre insane like me and you go through it frame by frame, you can work out that Gazerbeam defeated the omnidroid twice - the only super we have enough information to confirm did so. I always wondered about his body in the cave, how and why he got the password⦠But it makes sense. This thing goes haywire, gets an upgrade, and goes haywire again? He must have been hella suspicious! So he does what any good superhero would do - tries to get to the bottom of whatās really happening on Nomanisan Island. During the process heās clearly caught and wounded but has just enough time to get himself somewhere he can leave a final message, just praying that the next super to come along will find it and break the cycle. Gazerbeam is my hero.
Incredibles 2 has a lot to live up to
All of this andā¦
Iām just realizing that the name is No Man Is An Island???? As in, everyone needs someone to depend on and connect with, no one is ever completely alone or should act all on their own.
Also Gazerbeam probably has X-ray visionāso he not only survived long enough to defeat the Omnidroid, he had the ability to see Syndrome entering the password.
Holy guacamole! I should pay more attention, I donāt think I got any of that stuff!
does anyone think about the fact that now mr. incredibles has to live w/ the fact that all his friends getting killed by syndrome could have been avoided if he had just been nicer to syndrome from the beginning
^I was thinking that from the beginning reading this and was shocked it went through so many comments before anyone pointed that out.
Syndrome waited until his machine was almost ready to go before asking Bob to come to Nomanisan. He also was surprised to find out that he was married to āElastigirlā, which means he likely built his list and went through everyone else before finally deciding it was time to kill Bob.
Also, Syndrome literally didnāt find Bob until the start of the movie. He found Frozone and was stalking him. If Lucius hadnāt hung out with Bob, then Frozone was going to be the next one lured. Thereās literally a scene of Mirage realizing that the guy in the car with her target is Mr. Incredible. He wasnāt going through the list, he was stalking and finding every former Super he could, luring them to the island, and then killing them, for the sake of improving his robot. Finding Bob was just a happy accident, and Syndromes obsession with him meant that upon finding a bot that could beat Bob, he figured heād hit perfection and was ready.
and like, letās be real here in the intro Buddy was crossing the line the second he showed up, Mr. Incredible mentioned heād been very nice to Buddy, via signing a ridiculous amount of autographs and doing pictures and stuff, and that he was not going to risk a childs life as a sidekick (albeit in less words). Buddy literally showed up by breaking into his car, and then stalked him all evening until he was arrested. Thatās disturbingly obsessive behavior, thereās no amount of niceness that would stop Syndrome, it was an impossible situation. No amount of nice was going to appease Syndrome, the second he faced any sort of rejection from Mr. Incredible he was going to lose it and go supervillain. After his arrest he should have gotten put into therapy, but yknow, set in like. the 50ā²s. so it makes sense he fell through the cracks when the cracks were a goddamn canyon. Donāt victim blame Mr. Incredible.
reblogging for the last comment because blaming mr incredible for the deaths of his comrades is honestly such a weird take and i dislike how itās framed as āfactā when itās not. itās syndromeās fault and syndromeās fault alone. full stop. he murdered them because he was selfish, entitled, and obsessed with mr incredible to a fanatical degree.
You know whatās really great
In the beginning when Mr. Incredible says, āGo home, Buddy. I work alone.ā Heās holding up Bomb Voyage
In Syndromeās flashback, heās looking down on him, no bad guy in sight
Do with that info what you will
ohĀ
damn
i threw a bunch of vines into a shakespearean translator and theyāre all great great but this one is definitely my favorite:

My personal fave

I love this part of the Captain Marvel trailer because itās also asking three questions instead of one:
What makes (her)
What makes (a hero)
What makes (her a hero)
This is my favorite celebrity headline of today
John Mulaney voice: It was even weirder, though, when I went out for the night with some money, black out, and wake up with more money, because that means that I earned money. That means that I traded goods and/or services. Which is scary.
Why is Marvel like this?
Anthony Mackie:
Brie Larson:
So Iām not the only person who finds this really creepy right?
No, no you are not
ā¦so it was that bad
Well, that sure explains a lot!
Back in the old days, Kenneth Branagh actually involved Tom in the process of creating Loki. He asked Tom for all the aspects that heād wish to explore. Tom kept a scrapbook where he wrote down all his ideas. The actors of Thor met to discuss the dynamics between the characters. Thatās when Tom and Rene Russo came up with the backstory of Frigga being the one who taught Loki magic, and decided that they would share a tic. After filming Thor, Tom met Joss Whedon and they spent a whole afternoon discussing Loki, and what happened to him after his suicide attempt.
And now, actors have no idea whatās going on when theyāre filming and reciting their lines. Itās no wonder the films feel so soulless. It looks like Marvel completely missed the fact that Loki became so popular because the guy who played him always knew what the character was feeling and how he would be moving.
Friendly reminder that Joss Whedon sent Tom Hiddleston the entire Avengers script and Tom read the entire thing and loved it so much that he sent a gushing email back to Joss, thanking him for writing Loki as such an emotionally complex, layered character.Ā
Just compare that level of artistic integrity and caring about the characters and the plot to the most recent shit show of the actors not even knowing what fucking movie theyāre filming.Ā
Funny thing - if your actor doesnāt know what movie theyāre filming or the role they have in the plot, then their agent canāt properly negotiate for the pay they deserve for their work.
This is a rampant issue with voice acting too.
^^^^^^
I know thereās that post going around about Crowley hugging Aziraphale after they switch back to their bodies, but also consider: Aziraphale doesnāt even consider that he wouldnāt have a trial. After all, Crowley had one and itās hell.
So one day he asks Crowley, āOh by the way, what was my trial like? If, as you say, they wonāt leave us alone forever, Iāll have to speak to Gabriel again and I should know what was said. Yours was awful of course, I donāt know what I expected, theyāre demons after allā¦ā
And Crowley, with the same tone of voice in which he reminded Aziraphale that his bookshop had burnt down, says, āAngel⦠You didnāt have a trial.ā
#AZIRAPHALE WOULD LOOK ABSOLUTELY SHATTERED FOR A SPLIT SECOND BEFORE HIDING IT UNDER A SOFT SMILE #āOH. WELL. I SUPPOSE THAT DOES MAKE THINGS A BIT EASIER. WONāT HAVE TOO MUCH TO REMEMBER IN THAT CASE. THANK YOU MY DEAR.ā #BUT HE STILL LOOKS LIKE HEāS A BREATH AWAY FROM BREAKING APART#CROWLEY HAS NEVER HATED ANYONE AS MUCH AS HE HATES GABRIEL IN THAT MOMENT #HE HATED GABRIEL DURING THE EXECUTION FOR THE WAY HE TREATED AZIRAPHALE #SOMEONE WHO WAS TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING #WHO ALWAYS TRIED TO DO THE RIGHT THING #THE COMPASSIONATE THING #BUT ACTUALLY SEEING AZIRAPHALEāS REACTION TO IT FILLS HIM WITH SO MUCH RAGE #HEāD RIP GABRIEL OUT OF HEAVEN AND BURN HIM HIMSELF IF IT WOULD WIPE THAT BROKEN LOOK OFF AZIRAPHALEāS FACE #BUT HE CANāT AND IT WONāT #SO CROWLEY TRIES TO SUGGEST THINGS THAT WILL MAKE IT BETTER #A MOVIE? A CONCERT? LUNCH AT THE RITZ? FEEDING THE DUCKS IN THE PARK? THE OPERA? HAMLET? #BUT AZIRAPHALE SHAKES HIS HEAD AND SAYS āJUST SIT WITH ME FOR A BITā#āIāLL BE FINEā #AND SO CROWLEY PUTS HIS ARM AROUND HIS SHOULDERS AND SITS WITH HIM #AND DOESNāT SAY ANYTHING WHEN AZIRAPHALE LEANS ONTO HIS SHOULDER AND SNIFFLES #THEY SIT THERE FOR A LONG TIME #BUT THEN AZIRAPHALE STRAIGHTENS UP AND ADJUSTS HIS VEST AND SMILES AT CROWLEY #AND IT LOOKS CLOSER TO HIS NORMAL SMILE #AND SAYS āTHANK YOU MY DEARā #AND CROWLEY SMILES BACK #āOF COURSE ANGELā #āWHATEVER YOU NEEDāĀ <via>

THIS IS THE GREATEST THING
Please take good care of them!
i havenāt seen anyone talking about this and iām most likely gonna get some hate for this so here goes.
did you all see the way Tony handled wearing all of the Infinity Stones and how vastly different his reaction was from Thanos and Bruce?!?!
Thanos when he had all the Stones:
you can see that heās letting the power course through him, but the way he yells clearly shows that heās feeling pain as well as the power.
Hulk!Bruce when he wore all of the Stones:
theĀ āstrongestā (to quote Tony) Avenger is obviously in a tremendous amount of pain and it took him awhile to recover enough to snap his fingers. iām not hating on Bruce, just stating facts.
and then thereās Tony with all of the Stones:
he feels that initial surge of power but he rebounds and donāt tell me the suit was absorbing the power because you can later see the power traveling up his neck veryĀ quickly, he almost looks like heās simply feeling the power of the Stones and not necessarily any pain. he barely needs time to adjust to the power of the Stones in order to say his iconic line and then snap his fingers.
the power of the Stones are coursing up the side of his face and heās not even flinching. there isnāt an ounce of pain on Tonyās face, just pure determination.
Tony Stark, mere human, is the most powerful Avenger.
I see that and raise you-
This is a man that had a 5 inch HOLE cut in his chest. He had a metal tube shoved in, displacing and bruising his HEART.
This man was jolted and rattled around in suit after suit, and even when he BROKE AN ARM in CW he didnāt so much as flinch. He put on the suit, and he didnāt let some pain slow him down.
Tony Stark has never let pain stop him. Not emotional pain. Not physical pain. This man? He is feeling every bit of the pain Bruce and Thanos did. What makes HIM different?
Tony embraced that the cost of living his best life was pain. He internalized Stark Men are Made Of Iron and he embodied it.
Tony isnāt NOT feeling the pain. He is feeling every second of it. Saying he only feels the power⦠it downplays that. It takes away from the sheer badassery of feeling that much pain⦠and keeping a tight control, on not traumatizing Pepper or Peter or Rhodey with his agony, because he would rather bite off his own tongue than let slip a peep to haunt their nightmares.
Tony felt the same pain, if not more⦠and Tony Fucking Baddass Stark? He swallowed it down, played it off, and spat in the face of the horror that haunted him for a decade.
Tony Stark isnāt the strongest because he only felt power. Tony Stark is the strongest because when burning alive, he prioritized his loved ones over the release of screaming out the pain.
