They overwhelmingly said they did not regret their choice, even knowing Trump won, because they do not believe that the outcome of elections improves their lives, and do not believe that a victory by the Democratic Party would be meaningful for them. One Milwaukee barber, Cedric Fleming, said in a quote that was representative of the survey: “I don’t feel bad. Milwaukee is tired. Both of them [Clinton and Trump] were terrible. They never do anything for us anyway.”

The Times quoted another Milwaukee barber as follows:

“I’m so numb,” said Jahn Toney, 45, who had written in Mr. Sanders. He said no president in his lifetime had done anything to improve the lives of black people, including Mr. Obama, whom he voted for twice. “It’s like I should have known this would happen. We’re worse off than before.”

There is a reason so many people, mainly black and indigenous people, have rejected the electoral process and are now refusing to vote. Calling us privileged for that choice or accusing us of being psyops for discussing our discussion doesn’t change reality; we are very aware that our existences are inconvenient and unwanted by both parties, and that no matter who we vote for, we end up losing.

If you went to a restaurant with only two options and you were told that both were poisoned, you wouldn’t order either of them. You would get up and leave. And that’s the choice that so many marginalized voters are given and that’s the decision that so many of us are making. We’re tired of playing a game that’s rigged against us.

Oh wow I guess my addition to this post got spread a lot. I just wanted to add in another piece of important information. I live in Orlando. The location of the Pulse night club shooting. I was wearing a rainbow pin on my uniform because 49 people in my community died in a hate crime. I will never forgive anyone who tells me that my rainbow pins are the same as a swastika
