I'm reworking the zip-off goth jorts right now, reconstructing the whole thing from ground up without any care for how it was arranged before I took it apart. So in case anyone's wondering what the hell the goth jorts are, they're my project where I turned a pair of black jeans into zip-off jorts, where the leg parts are attached mainly with a harness-like system with chain and buckles and stuff. So I when I zip the leg parts off and unattach the harness (which is tied to my belt up at the top), they'll just be regular black jean shorts.
I have also illustrated the potential secret, forbidden third technique: Pant legs and belt, no pants.
My goal for today was to get the right pant leg done, but unfortunately at the end of the day it was more apart than it had been when I started. Starting to hate the entire project.
the legally blonde mentality isnt just for law students. u can bring that attitude with you into every field of work. be the whimsical force of positive change. wear that neon outfit. snaps for us all.
this post was inspired by my boss telling me she couldnt "take me seriously" in a pair of dinosaur print overalls. sorry i have two degrees and a dope wardrobe. you dont need to take me seriously but You Will Take Me.
OP's an inspiration. bring on the whimsy movement!
"the worst part of being a trans man is wearing boring plain masculine clothes" skill issue, i look cool as fuck
ok real talk I do actually want to talk about how you can dress masculine without feeling like you're stuck with jeans and a tee. this is very much based on my own personal tastes but I think you can incorporate these tips into other styles
personally I really love this Americana work wear style. it's cool, it's comfortable and versatile, and it's very popular right now.
its all about layering different textures and having just a few nice statement pieces that you can show off in coordinating but different colors. some jeans, some leather boots, a textured knit sweater, a nice work jacket like a carhartts or something. or for lighter weather, a vintage t with a flannel, (roll up those sleeves) maybe some corduroys and converse. im not a hat guy but a lot of guys accessorize with a beanie or a cap. personally I like jewelry too, simple gold rings or a cool pendant on a leather cord.
here are some pics of myself, I'm not claiming to be a fashion expert but I was feeling myself in these. just some tshirt and jacket combos cos it was spring and I didn't wanna be too warm
if you want an example of a big guy in this style, matty matheson is a great inspiration!
its about simple pieces, varying textures, and layering them in a cool as fuck way. even one little statement piece like suspenders, a sick belt buckle that you tuck your shirt in to show off, or any unique thrifted find can elevate your outfit. and dont forget patches, you can turn an otherwise boring jacket into an amazing statement piece with a back patch or some iron on patches. try some visible mending techniques if you find a secondhand piece with some damage. that handmade and custom element really stands out and can make your outfits so much more unique, and adds just another element of texture and visual interest
and obviously as a trans man you don't have to wear masculine clothes, wear whatever you want and you're still a man! but I know it can be jarring to want to make the shift from feminine to masculine fashion and feeling like your options are more limited but that's not true, you just gotta find some inspiration and figure out what makes a guy's outfit look cool and euphoric instead of just boring and plain.
not to be obnoxious by adding a couple of my own recent outfit pics here, but this has been my approach to fashion as well! paying attention to things like layering, patterns, and accessories makes a world of difference if you want to lean towards a masculine style without looking "plain."
i'm personally a sucker for embossed leather belts, mid-to-high rise trousers and jeans, patterned button downs (many a trans guy's friend), and simple accesories like necklaces or bolo ties. it's just a matter of taking inspo from what you already think looks good on others and figuring out from there what feels good for you personally, style and comfort-wise. it ain't all cargo shorts and graphic tees and it doesn't have to be!
@so-i-did-this-thing is a fantastic example of transmasc style not being "boring"
Doing my part to wear suits/sportscoats and not look like a Business Bro.
Tagging @havinghorns for his wonderfully colorful throwback style
Hi! That's me!
My closet is a big old mix of "women's" and "men's" clothing--not that I really believe clothing has an intrinsic gender! It's all about finding what you like and what fits you well.
I straight up refuse to give up the color, pattern and silhouettes that *I* like even if they are not, in this moment, considered particularly masc. I spent 28 years not being who I wanted, I'm not going to go through transitioning only to make myself conform to a *different* idea of what I should look/act like lol.
Idk have fun lads, sometimes I think...I'm 37, me maybe I should dress more "seriously" but...why remove what gives me joy in a hard world?
"Now I've shot so many Nazis, Daddy will have to buy me a sable coat." (From his Wikipedia article).
Neil Munro "Bunny" Roger
June 9, 1911-April 27, 1997.
Bunny Roger killed a bunch of Nazis and then invented Capri pants.
He was expelled from Oxford for his indiscrete gayness (discrete gayness being perfectly fine at Oxford and part of the curriculum until...today probably, at least like 1992?). Then, having been sent down to London, he started his own fashion business, and his first client was Vivien Leigh.
Bunny served in WWII, killing fascists in North Africa and Italy, and often wearing a mauve scarf in the field. Roger claimed that he had gone into a battle brandishing a rolled-up copy of VOGUE and commanding: "When in doubt, powder heavily!"
Roger was known in high society for his themed soirées; Diamond, Amethyst, and Flame Balls were held to celebrate his 60th, 70th, and 80th birthdays. He wore a curious plum colored catsuit with a feathered headdress at his 70th birthday ball in 1981. At his 80th, he made his entrance in a catsuit of scarlet sequins with a cape of orange organza, greeting his guests from behind a wall of fire. His parties were covered by the newspapers, including a New Year's Eve Fetish Ball where the proper upper class mixed with young guests in rubber S/M gear.
From an obituary: "Beneath his mauve mannerisms, Bunny was stalwart, frank, dependable and undeceived; to onlookers a passing peacock, to intimates, a life enhancer and exemplary friend."
From another obituary:
He served valiantly in every way.
happy 125th birthday to bunny roger

And this in-memoriam piece.
(he did not precisely invent capri pants- Sonja de Lennart did, and they popularized them together)
If Jurassic Park cared about making money they’d make pants that are like scaly and then strips of blue or gold down the side like Blue or the Indoraptor
it should be socially acceptable to wear whatever type of clothes you want anywhere and i am not kidding
dress is an indicator of status that poor people, people of color, disabled people, some religious people, and women consistently fail to meet due to social prejudice or barriers to acquiring the appropriate clothing
obviously there are scenarios where specific clothing is required (like PPE at a job site)
but a person coming to an office job in sweatpants doesn't make them less qualified to do their work, it just means they're more comfortable while doing it
"you're required to wear a face shield, an apron/coat, and closed toed shoes in this lab environment for your safety" awesome perfect, i love safety, and i can wear whatever i want under it.
"you're required to wear a suit to present your lab work" i do not become less intelligent wearing non-formal clothing, and this presentation has now become inaccessible to someone who cannot wear appropriate formal dress
I FORGOT FAT PEOPLE IN MY ORIGINAL REBLOG, DONT REBLOG WITHOUT INCLUDING FAT PEOPLE

"Victorian dress" costumes are so fucking funny. Victoria was queen for six decades. In two hundred years party city is going to sell "second elizabethan era" costumes with 2000s low-rise jeans and 80s hair and a 50s blouse call it "historical costume 20th century Y2K Elizabethan hippie cold war vintage girl sexy" and I am ready

The Row ‘Silk Cami’ - $700.00 Dior ‘Small 30 Montaigne Avenue Top Handle Bag’ - $3,450.00 Audry Rose Jewelry ‘Diamond Lock Necklace’ - $14,982.00 Audry Rose Jewelry ‘Diamond Trail Lariat’ - $5,606.00 (starting) Kindred Lubeck for Artifex Fine custom engagement ring Meshki ‘Sabrina Silk Blend Maxi Skirt’ - $185.00
I gasped! As a self-professed minimalist / neutral lover, this outfit swanned gracefully and surprisingly across my feed. Everything from the fabrication, to the silhouette, to the color palette feels dreamy, sophisticated, and relaxed. What a breath of fresh air!
The biggest callouts for me center on that silk skirt (my best swing at the moment is Meshki - a brand she has previously worn). Both the material (a swoon-y silk blend) and length (a full maxi) are atypical for Taylor. A more quintessential Taylor ‘fit would be a pleated mini skirt worn with a tucked-in bodysuit and perhaps tall boots or heeled oxfords. Here, we get a luxurious sheen maxi skirt paired with a blousier, looser cami. Unexpected, but very appreciated. There might be temptation to compare this to a Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy look (I’m thinking an inverse of her Brite Nite Whitney kick-off party look in 1999), but Taylor’s outfit doesn’t have the same crisp, tailored polish. Plus, the necklace stack (something Taylor has leaned into doing the last few years) counters attempts at dainty restraint. But still inspiration for classic neutral minimalist? Definitely!
I was also charmed by how her outfit coordinated with her longtime friend and dinner-mate Ash Avignone.

Thank you so much @vicshush it’s amazing!
Some Death outfits
ok so we’ve established cowgoth but does hawaiian goth exist?? or touristy goth??
‘cause this is Florida but you know I consistently wear black and long sleeves, but i’ve also got that bit of color with the patterned button-up shirts and the cool sunglasses and maybe the occasional fanny pack idk…
@tikoaztite
this is ME. this is REAL. i’m makin it MAINSTREAM.
New subculture:
Cowgoth. We dress like cowboys but in all black and we don’t listen to anything but classic country songs about murder.
Little things you can do to feel better if you are trans and you can’t really transition right now
For guys
Baseball caps? Those are good.
Short haircuts. If anyone questions, say it’s for convenience.
For your neck: fang pendants (very badass). Or a dapper lil bowtie.
Big ass stompy boots.
Those cool belt buckles. You can get a basic one or something with a cool design (like a dragon!).
Don’t shave. Let your body hair grow. Unless you feel uncomfortable.
Buy some spicy-smelling perfumes or other cosmetics. Or if there is something that says “Forest” on it, this one is also good.
If you can, try some weightlifting. It will make your muscles better and release some of that sweet sweet testosterone. But remember, fat and skinny men are also very handsome, so if you can’t, don’t sweat it.
Eat plenty of protein for a testosterone boost. Also, zinc from seafood - like shrimp and salmon especially - will help that chemical magic. Leafy greens, pomegranate, coconuts, garlic also help. Watch out for soy and tofu! They raise estrogen. And raisins are great, but dried apricots are not.
Remember that no matter what you are 100% man (unless you are a demiguy/bigender, then you are 50% man or whatever it looks like for you, that is still very cool, and if you are genderfluid and currently a dude, that’s still very good and valid).
For gals
Kitten ear beanies are so pure and good (just like you).
Let your hair grow to a nice length. If anyone questions, say you found a new style.
For your neck: simple crystal pendants (very pretty).
Crystal bracelets!
Lil ballet flats.
Shaving can make you feel a whole lot better. Remember - some cis girls also have to shave!
Just a little bit of lip balm goes a long way. Oh! And clear nail polish!
Sweet-smelling cosmetics are your best friend. You can probably get on eBay or in your local store a nice bottle of vanilla body mist.
Google some exercises for a bigger butt, if you want to try it. If you can’t, remeber less-curvy women are also beautiful.
Eat plenty of soy, flaxseed, sesame seed, dried apricots… I know that those give you a bit of extra estrogen. Apparently coffee can also do it? Getting estrogen from diet is harder. Just eat a lot of tasty fresh food. Remember to treat yourself.
Remember that no matter what you are 100% woman (unless you are a demigirl/bigender, then you are 50% woman or whatever it looks like for you, that is still very cool, and if you are genderfluid and currently a lady, that’s still very good and valid).
For nonbinary pals
Simple beanies.
Google “androgynous/unisex hairstyles”. Look how many cool options you have! You might tweak one to your needs, like make it longer, or shorter, or add some cool hair dye…
For your neck: scarves. They come in many colors and patterns, cover up your neck so you don’t get cold, also you can hide your neck bump or lack thereof.
Friendship bracelets!
Trainer shoes.
Baggy hoodies are really nice.
You can shave and don’t wear makeup. Or rock the beard and eyeshadow look. Or really, anything else.
Cosmetics? Citrus and lavender are considered unisex scents. You can also wikiHow to Make Perfume and mix some scents you like at home.
Exercise, if you are healthy enough to do it, is good. Try running and yoga. Remember, media sells us the myth that androgyny=thinness, but it’s bullcrap. Fat, curvy, muscular people can all be nonbinary and/or androgynous.
You can look up the guys and gals sections too. Maybe you will find something that helps you.
Remember that your identity is 100% valid and true, no matter what. Yes, any kind of identity. No matter if it’s a neutral void or a mix of everything, no matter if it’s stable or changes. It’s valid because you are valid.
