“Ember Island Players”, but the version where the show decided it was actually important to address that kissing people without consent is not okay, even if you think that person is your “forever girl”. Especially if you think that person is your “forever girl” but she kind of just rejected you. Remember kids, unless you get an enthusiastic yes in consent, then the answer is no.
Aka in this house we stan Katara, and are still upset 12 years later about how the forced kiss was never mentioned again when homegirl is a major character and was clearly very upset by it.
Also, if you think it would be fun to learn how to create gif manipulations and decide to teach yourself…. choose a less ambitious first project than creating an entire “missing” scene from a cartoon. I am very tired.

The ballroom of the five-star hotel felt unbearably dull. For Toph Beifong, the clinking of crystal glasses, the scrape of violins, and the fake small talk of upper-class businessmen were just ear-piercing noise pollution. She stood alone in a corner by a large pillar, clutching her foldable cane hidden beneath the folds of her grand evening gown.
Toph was bored out of her mind. Her thoughts drifted elsewhere, trying to tune out the chatter about stocks around her, until her focus started to drift.
Snap.
Suddenly, a warm hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her away from the pillar. Toph jolted, her instincts almost making her throw a kick, but the scent of cheap soap and detergent she recognized instantly hit her.
"Aang?!" Toph whispered as quietly as she could so she wouldn’t draw the attention of other VIP guests. "What the hell are you doing here?!"
Aang, who had just finished delivering heavy boxes of catering food to the back kitchen, let out a quiet chuckle. Without letting go of her wrist, he quickly guided Toph to sneak toward the back corridor exit.
"You looked like you were about to die if I left you in there any longer," Aang whispered with a half-laugh right by Toph’s ear.
Toph froze for a second, then the corner of her lips twitched into a faint smirk. Damn it, this guy knew she was about to explode from boredom.
The moment the exit door opened, the fresh night air hit Toph’s face, letting her breathe easy after escaping the stuffy loading dock. But their escape wasn’t as quiet as they thought. Faintly, Toph heard other footsteps approaching, along with the clinking of metal trays and a very noisy rant.
"Aang?! Holy crap, where have you been? You did drop those food boxes off in the kitchen, right..."
The footsteps stopped abruptly. Toph could feel the atmosphere around her turn tense instantly.
"W-Wait a second..." The other voice, a girl’s, trembled with shock. "Sokka, look at that girl’s outfit. The flying pig emblem on her brooch... That’s... Toph Beifong?!"
"Huh?! The sole heir of Beifong Group?!" The guy who’d been ranting now raised his voice several octaves in panic. "Aang! What the hell are you doing bringing a conglomerate’s daughter to a parking lot like this?! We’re just scholarship kids working as catering crew, you want us kicked out of campus?!"
Toph stayed silent. Since she was blind, she couldn’t see the panicked or pale expressions of the two strangers in front of her. But from the tremor in their voices and their ragged breathing, these two were scared half to death like they’d seen a ghost.
Instead of panicking at being scolded, Aang let out his carefree, bright laugh. Toph felt Aang’s arm suddenly loop around her shoulder, casually draping over her like they were just hanging out at a street-side coffee stall.
"Hehe! Katara, Sokka... relax. Meet Toph," Aang said, as proud as if he’d just won the lottery. "My girlfriend!"
Silence immediately fell over the parking area. Toph could hear Katara’s held breath and Sokka choking on his own spit.
For Toph, that declaration was like thunder on a clear day. Her usually tactical brain went blank. The combination of her blindness and Aang’s sudden confession made the situation feel even more unreal. Her brain completely short-circuited.
"Huh...?" That was the only dazed sound that managed to come out of Toph’s mouth.
"G-GIRLFRIEND?!"
Sokka yelled hysterically, luckily his voice was muffled because he quickly clapped a hand over his own mouth until his eyes nearly bulged out. The metal tray in his hands shook violently, making the leftover food clips on it rattle softly.
"Aang, for the love of the Spirits, don’t pull this crap, okay!" Sokka stepped forward with weak knees, whispering in a super panicked tone while thrusting the food tongs toward Aang. "Did you leave your brain in one of those food boxes earlier, huh?! Do you even realize who you’re holding onto? The Beifong family is the biggest shareholder and the main donor at our campus! The Beifong Foundation funds scholarships for the three of us, YOU IDIOT! She could revoke our scholarships and get us expelled tonight with just a snap of her fingers!"
Katara wasn’t any less shocked, her face had gone as pale as newspaper. She slapped her forehead hard, then stared at Toph with an expression of sheer terror. She hurriedly bowed in panic even though she knew the girl in front of her couldn’t see her reaction.
"Sorry! Please forgive our friend, Miss Beifong!" Katara cut in with a trembling voice, elbowing Sokka to bow with her until his head nearly hit the tray. "Aang’s just being... well, I mean, he’s completely out of his mind tonight from being exhausted carrying boxes! We beg you, please don’t report this to the campus foundation. The three of us are just catering crew trying to make pocket money, we didn’t know anything!"
Aang only grinned wider, not feeling guilty at all seeing his two friends nearly faint from fear of getting expelled from campus. He nudged Toph’s arm gently, which was still frozen.
"See, Toph, they’re always this dramatic. Like a free circus," Aang whispered casually.
Toph, who was still buffering, slowly started to regain her senses. The steady beat of Aang’s heart against her shoulder proved this bald guy was genuinely being insane.
This scholarship kid... seriously has a death wish, huh? Toph thought, while her brows furrowed, ready to blow up after being declared someone’s girlfriend without her permission in front of a group of catering crew who were terrified out of their minds of her last name.
A multiverse; the characters’ ages and looks remain the same in the Legend of Aang era. Canon Katara gets sucked into a vortex created by a jinn/trickster that Team Avatar was pursuing (inspired by the TV series Supernatural), and Fire Lady Katara is spit out from a different universe.

I’ve been writing this since the leak and I only came up with two chapters so far 😅 (Its a multichapter fic) I already have a summary and an ending in mind but writing them out is the challenge. The jinn shoots forward and seizes her wrist with burning-cold fingers.
Katara gasps.
Then both of them are ripped screaming into the vortex.
“Katara!”
Aang lunges.
Zuko lunges harder.
Neither catches her.
The vortex snaps shut.
Silence.
The courtyard falls still.
Aang hits the stone on his knees.
Sokka stares.
Suki covers her mouth.
Even Toph says nothing.
Zuko’s chest heaves as he stands frozen, one hand still outstretched toward empty air.
Gone.
Katara is gone.
Then—
CRACK.
The air splits again.
Everyone jerks up.
Another vortex tears open above the courtyard.
Something comes out.
A woman.
She lands hard in a crouch, palms skidding over stone.
Water Tribe blue flashes—
—but not quite.
Her parka is sleeker, cut with crimson and gold trim.
Her sleeves are embroidered with flame motifs.
Her hair is looped in familiar braids adorned with gold.
And pinned near her temple—
A gleaming Fire Lady crest.
She looks up wildly.
Blue eyes frantic.
Then they land on Zuko.
Her whole face changes.
Relief.
“Zuko!”
Before anyone can react, she runs.
Straight at him.
Zuko barely has time to blink before she throws her arms around his neck and kisses him.
Hard.
Not hesitant.
Not confused.
A desperate, fierce kiss like she thinks she’s lost him.
Zuko makes a strangled sound of pure shock.
Sokka chokes.
Aang freezes.
Suki’s eyes widen.
Toph’s mouth drops open with the sudden shift of heartbeats and movements.
The woman pulls back just enough to breathe—
“You idiot,” she whispers, and keeps kissing his face while clutching his collar. “You could’ve —”
She stops.
Because no one is moving.
No one is speaking.
Her eyes flick to Aang.
Then Sokka.
Then Suki.
Then Toph.
Then back to Zuko.
Zuko’s hands are still half-raised in pure shock when he sees Aang’s face. Immediately his arms shoot up in surrender, palms out. “I didn’t touch her, I swear!” he blurts, voice cracking in a way the Fire Lord hasn’t done since he was sixteen.
“Katara!” Aang’s voice is sharp with something between fear and jealousy. He lunges forward, wrapping an arm around her waist and tugging her back against him possessively.
She stiffens instantly. “Ugh—hey! What’s going on? Why are you being so—” She twists out of his grip with a waterbender’s fluid grace and steps away, brow furrowed in genuine confusion. “Too close, Aang.”
Without thinking, she moves straight to Zuko again, pressing close enough that their arms brush. Zuko doesn’t back away. He just stands there, rigid, golden eyes locked on Aang in silent confusion, but his hands stay carefully at his sides. He doesn’t touch her. Not while the entire room feels like it’s one breath away from exploding.
Suki’s the first to find her voice, fans already half-deployed. “That’s… not Katara.”
Aang’s eyes widen, the jealousy flickering into something rawer. “Who are you?!”
The interdimensional Katara’s head snaps toward the voices, then to the familiar-unfamiliar faces surrounding her—Sokka’s stunned expression, Suki’s wary stance. Then Toph slams her foot down, sending a small ripple through the stone floor.
“She is Katara,” Toph says flatly, arms crossed, blind eyes somehow still cutting through the mess. “Just… different.”
Katara (the one who doesn’t belong here) turns slowly, really looking at them now. At her brother’s older, broader face. At the old and ruined temple courtyard.
“Where am I?” she asks, voice quieter now, the adrenaline fading into dawning unease. “Where are we?”
They can all see the subtle differences. She looks radiant in a way their Katara never quite is. A little more color in her cheeks, a confident set to her shoulders that comes from years of standing openly at a Fire Lord’s side instead of the Avatar’s. The Fire Lady pin in her hair catches the light like a dare.

“The stress of planning a wedding. The chaos of today. Marrying me.”
