There is something genuinely interesting and funny to me about the fact that Percy, as a son of Poseidon, kind of embodied several of Zeus’ most famous demigod children when he entered the Olympian throne room at the end of “The Lightning Thief”.

Like, Percy:

was the exact same age Thalia had been when she had died and when Zeus had turned her into a tree to save her life

probably looked vaguely like her (they share the short, black hair, the light eyes and the mediterranean complexion)

held Zeus’ own lightning bolt in his hands

wielded Herakles old sword

is literally called “Perseus”

and had, at this point, defeated Medusa with the help of Grover and Annabeth, the monster Perseus is most famous for defeating, and sent her decapitated head to the throne room of Mount Olympus

I'm so fascinated by people who seem to believe that analyzing media is somehow taking the joy out of it. Like. Do you not enjoy thinking? Day 30: Fav Fandom Inside Joke

My favourite joke has to be Nico's McDonald's thing.

Mainly because it has absolutely no basis. He bought McDonald's once and fed it to a bunch of ghosts, but it's somehow become a big part of his character in fandom.

I love it.

And I suppose that this concludes out 30 day journey (even though there's a day left in the month).

Day 29: Is Grover Underrated

Yes! Grover is such an interesting character. His and Percy's friendship meant so much to me. The empathy link, especially, could've created something amazing, but not much was really done with it. I mean, they were literally bonded for life.

Grover was never utilised as much as he could've been.

Day 28: Reyna or Chiron

So, not gonna lie, Chiron annoyed me so much the first time I read PJO. It was like he never really did anything. I also noticed how he never really told Percy he was a demigod, Annabeth had to do that.

Reyna—I love Reyna. She's amazing. She kinda annoying me in her first appearance, but in a way that made her love her, if that makes sense. It probably doesn't.

She's a queen, she deserves better. Reyna all the way.

Day 27: Opinions on the actors in the PJO movies

I don't really have an opinion of the actors, I mean, they're actors. They act.

My opinion on the movies themselves is very low. I hate the Lightning Thief movie and that was before I even knew there were Percy Jackson books. The characterisation of Grover, in particular, irked me, especially after I read what he was supposed to be like.

Day 25: Opinions on Bob

Probably unpopular, but I did not care for him all that much at the start. When he showed up in HOH, I hadn't read the Sword of Hades, so I had no idea what was going on there.

He grew on me throughout the book, but then he died and it was very sad. But now according to TSAST he's not dead? I haven't read the book yet, I don't know. His "death" always felt like it was supposed to be a more permanent thing, he was literally facing off against Tartarus.

Day 24: Bianca or Zoë

Dear Gods, this is my time to shine (rant).

Bianca and Zoë were characters created purely to further a man's (boy's) story, and their Huntress sisters would hate that.

When it comes down to it, we learn far more about Zoë than we do about Bianca, she feels more like an actual character.

I like Bianca, but everything she did felt like it was to push the plot forward and not because she was a character living in that world.

I have my complaints about Zoë, she brought the newest newbie ever onto a quest. Not just any quest. A quest to rescue a goddess from her father.

I'm a believer of Zoë knowing that she was going to be the one to die by her parents hand the whole time, and I feel like that adds even more layers to her loyalty to Artemis.

Her death is also one of the saddest.

Day 23: Kronos or Gaia

Kronos, all the way. He's my favourite villain, like I've said before, the dream things he did always gave me chills. I think Gaia did something similar, but I genuinely need to reread HOO, so my opinion is probably baised.

I was very disappointed by the end battle with Gaia, and honestly the giants in general.

Kronos had such a good build up and he definitely delivered.

Day 22: Opinions on Rachel

I love Rachel. That's my girl (after Hazel).

Her first appearance was amazing and hilarious.

“Do you always kill people when they blow their nose?”

“Well, it’s either a sword or the biggest toothpick in the world.”

Funny story, I thought Perachel was originally endgame. Purely because I was too caught up on the fact that Percy and Annabeth were related, the line saying that demigods don't share DNA should've come much sooner than TLO because it had me messed up.

Aside from that, I do really like Rachel. She's artsy and prophetic (always a wonderful combination), her appearance at the start of BOTL was such a good representation for what people in pjo might go through.

She thought she was crazy her whole life. I deeply resonated with that.

All in all, her character was a very nice addition.

Day 21: Best Superpower

This is hard, there are so many cool powers in the books. Charmspeak is one that immediately comes to mind, the ability to control people with words is top notch. Imagine a villain with that power, like the Empousa but much stronger.

(This is stemming from the fact that I just rewatched Jessica Jones and Killgrave has given me the creeps again)

Water control is cool too, and it definitely has a lot of potential. Frank's shapeshifting power has always been one of my favourites.

When it comes down to it, I'm gonna say that the best superpower is Charmspeak.

Day 20: Hedge or Grover

Grover. This was probably obvious, I said he was my favourite male character. I did like Coach Hedge (and his ballista).

But Grover has been my #1 since the beginning.

That's a lie, I actually disliked Grover the first time I read TLT, but by the end, I had bigger problems (a new found hatred of Luke).

And now he's my favourite.

That time in your life when you're researching for a fic but end up deep diving into something so completely that none of the fic actually gets written.

I do, however, have multiple pages worth of information on amnesia. So there's that.
