Omar Sharif as Ahmed صراع في الوادي / The Blazing Sun (1954) dir. Youssef Chahine
In 2026, the chicest thing a gay actor can do is never explicitly come out as gay but also make it abundantly clear that he is. Coming out is too modern. Staying closeted is too old fashioned. But this method merges contemporary freedom with Old Hollywood glamour and allure, and it weeds out the dumbest people who truly don’t get it. I call it the Pascal Method.
Taylor Swift does this
no she doesn’t
I totally forgot about this friends to lovers to enemies promo for their All In match. Great selection of ROH clips and some cute sound bites.
Bear religion probably fucking rocks. You're a fucking bear, you're the deadliest thing on earth, once a year an endless supply of salmon just flings itself up the river to gorge on and then you nap for 3 months.
The most delicious food in the world is protected by tiny demons who can defend it from everyone except you. Your natural armor is thick enough that you can just eat the damn hive while they buzz around you. God's chosen animals right there
Regular bears tell stories of angel bears sent by the Bear God, pure white and twice as strong as any normal bear could be, who rule the summit of the Earth and kill all who stand in their path.
And they are right, those bears exist and totally do that. Humans just have fake angels as a cope.
love the idea of bears being the chosen species actually. having a near death experience and glimpsing heaven and realising it's just full of bears, no humans at all, humans not ensouled actually, humans an accidental byproduct of God's plan for bears
This is the beast Joe was talking about by the way.
elf sex: 3 to 12 effeminate twinks coo and giggle in a sensual pile in the woods. sometimes the elf queen joins and pretends they’re her baby birds
dwarf sex: a pair of strong able bodied warriors tacitly agree to mate as equals under a binding contract of tomelike thickness, with consent from the council
gnome sex: married couple of 200 years finally gives in to temptation and call upon the stork to deliver their child, then sleep in separate beds completely satisfied
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
puts my uncomfortably wet hand on your shoulder. see here, gay boy- can i call you gay boy?
One fun thing about learning new languages is reconsidering the structure of words and language in your mother tongue. It seems with each new language I study, I get more little insights into English, either in how it's similar or how it's different.
For example, a couple years ago, while learning Spanish, I encountered the word for a store, "la tienda." I thought "huh, that's a lot like tener (tiene) - the word for store in Spanish literally corresponds to 'to have/keep'. How interesting!"
Then I stopped for a moment, and for the first time in my life, thought about seriously about the meaning of English word for the place where you buy things, "a store."
Until adulthood I realized that "Desayuno" means to undo the "Ayuno", to actually eat something after a long period of not doing it.
And I was so hyped about it, like "yeah! My language has a cool, meaningful word for breakfast, related to religion and culture, unlike english were it's just something about taking a break or something... Wait-a-minute.."
And it's actually even more fascinating, the two words share No Fonemas at all, No shared roots. Yet, at some point, someone probably translated the word from the other (or from a third language, possibly latin) and formed their own composite word, and both carried on in our languages, both being "The composite word 'To stop fasting' that designates the first meal of the day". Like, that doesn't happened oftenly, oftenly if a word needs to be borrowed it's borrowed whole, there was definitely intention in the translation and yet, the actual speakers took the word and ran with it, that oftenly doesn't happened either, language needs to be organic...
OR! Or. Or... Two languages, again, with completely different words and grammatic structures, paralelly decided to create the same composite word, with the same equivalent words, to designate the exact same thing.
And I know this sounds obvious, but language can be so capricious, and "Fast" is such a religious thing that it would have been so easy for it to not relate to the first meal of the day...
I think French "déjeuner" and "petit déjeuner" are the etymological cousins of Spanish "desayuno" which had the strongest chance of making their way into English. It seems English still used "morgenmete" (lit. morning meat, shared with some Germanic languages) though, before arriving at the familiar and conceptually similar word using Germanic roots, "breakfast".
happy pride to losers who get no bitches and stack no paper
Don’t make your younger self into your own dead wife.
Imagine being hunted for sport in this fucking house
So this is what rich people do with their 5th house.
*gently takes your face in my hands* hey. remember that fandom is for fun. if you're not having fun it is ok to step back. if you're intentionally making it unfun for others it is ok to step back. none of this is real. go sit in the sun and smell a flower. i love you.
