Over 90% of parents of visibly intersex children opt for cosmetic surgery on their infants.

The ones that don't experience medical violence then, likely experience it as a teenager.

I didn't.

I am very rare in that I did not experience medical violence.

Why? Because I learned what intersexuality was as a young age, and I actively fought against what doctors wanted to do to me. All the way down to legal research on what medical care minors can be forced into. I remember walking into that doctor's appointment with the state law written down that proved that if I did not consent they could not do surgery.

That is why intersex activism is important. It saved me and it will save more.

it's crazy how a lot of people dont seem to grasp that children should have agency. being treated like a half-heard non-thinking entity as a kid because "kids dont know anything and cant make their own choices" is what made me so anxious and self-doubting. like, sure, kids are capable of making bad decisions, but so are adults, and their poor decisions have more dire consequences! it doesn't really benefit anyone to take away children's agency besides those who want to cling to aged traditions and stay in their comfy little bubble of idealism. treat children like actual people, it's not hard.

The way that when you’re a child other children can bully you and single you out as an acceptable target for abuse and socially isolate you to the point that it permanently changes your personality, your self worth and the way you interact with other adults for the rest of your life. And there’s nothing that can really be done about this. All you can do is just keep getting older and put more years between your current self and the frightened child that you were. Nothing happens to the kids that bullied you, they might not even remember doing it at all

They just don’t understand each other’s grammar, so when they’re trying to communicate, Grace will literally say things like “no understand” or “astrophage on my star. Bad.” Admittedly, he does it less so than Rocky, but it’s established that Rocky’s better at learning and math and memory, so he learns English faster than Grace learns Eridian, and they both adapt to each other’s levels
