I do think Freddy Carter’s character could be Michael Afton but the only way I can verbalize why I don’t like that idea is through ecology terms lol

Basically: I was originally a bit annoyed they were adding Charlie to the movies, since Mike S. seems to fit a role pretty similar to Charliebot. However, game!Charlie’s role in the story hasn’t been filled. There’s still a niche for her to fit—the Puppet, the one to animate the spirits, the most aware one, the founder’s daughter, etc.

But there’s no niche left for Michael A, because there’s too many characters occupying his role. Both Vanessa and Mike S. occupy different aspects of his personality and story; there’s no niche for him now unless he’s a completely different guy. Or else he’s just going to be a guy with the exact same fucking story as the other two leads. Like, beyond parallels, it’s just the same person. Same life, character motivations, backstory, etc. There’s no reason to add him; that niche is occupied.
