Why Luffy wants to ring that bell so bad (Skypiea)
I think I forgot to share that thought here. I couldn't find in in my history.
When I first saw and read Skypiea, when I read it on my recent full reread (3 years ago?), I found it weird how much Luffy wants to ring that bell.
For him in that arc, it's more important than taking revenge on Enel for Conis and her father, even if they fed him. And for Luffy that's saying something.
So I wondered why he found signaling to Montblanc Cricket more important than anything else at that point.
But then, recently, I realised. What Luffy heard from Cricket's story was : "I am being hated and shunned by the world because of who my ancestor was." That is all. That is it.
Cricket is destroying his health trying to win that fight. Of course Luffy would want to help.
If only helping Ace stop to self destruct in his battle with his ancestry was as simple as ringing a bell.
I now understand the urgency. Luffy HAD to ring that bell.
