I do think the Hank Green AI thing makes it abundantly clear that if you have ADHD or any other mental illness and/or you are prone to addiction you need to avoid AI at all costs. This shit will rope you in, and if you have a mental illness that say, starves your brain of dopamine, you're gonna be extra susceptible to that. I won't use AI for a lot of reasons but one of the big ones is knowing how it would fuck with my ADHD and bipolar. Like yes, it's bad for the environment and giving money to rich scumbags and runs on plagarism, but even more than all that, it's straight up not safe at all and you really shouldn't use it if for no other reason than to protect yourself from whatever the fuck it might do to you.
Guys AI is bad but it doesn't give you irreversible brain damage, jesus fucking christ?? Be against AI but don't tell people if they use it they'll never be able to feel joy again??? Convincing people to be against the lie machine by lying to them isn't really what we wanna be doing????
Human brains can recover from horrific and profound trauma, people can be shot in the head and live, my brother cracked his skull open and survived and is fine!! The only way AI can permanently harm you is if it convinces you to kill yourself, and it does that often enough I'd argue that alone is the only reason anyone needs to stay the fuck away from it forever. You don't need to make shit up, we have plenty of real, concrete proof that this tech is evil. Yeesh.
Staying away from AI is important for the same reason that it's important to stay away from poker machines.
Nobody is too smart to become addicted to a predatory algorithm or variable reward system.
These ai companies are drowning in debt and investment money is drying up as speculators become anxious that this is looking like a bubble. They are desperate to claw in an ROI of some kind to rekindle investor confidence, and they're going to stoop to increasingly underhanded practices to get people hooked.
There is a particular danger to ADHD people in a box that will tell you how smart and insightful and clever and right you are, and apologize to you whenever it disagrees. It's not good for anyone's brain, but the same wiring that creates rsd or makes us vulnerable to high-control situations works to make us flattery-addicted.
