people who can graciously hide that they don’t like people are so terrifying. last year while working on tech for a play i asked my friend how he became friends with another guy on the crew and he got quiet, looked straight into my soul and said “he’s not my friend. i fucking hate him.” i lost 5 years of my life
A I R S I G N S
I hate this post because I am an air sign and I don’t see how this stuff is terrifying. This is just, you know, how you do.
You’ve got something that needs to get done, it doesn’t really matter if you like a person, you can still treat them well and be kind to them in order to make things go smoothly. Just because I hate someone doesn’t mean they need to know it.
This just in, only air signs act like fucking adults
The Addams Family renting out rooms in their huge mansion cheaply to broke college students.
The students digging it because the craziness and the bugs are pretty much the same as any other dorm house. Also, Morticia and Gomez treat them all like visiting cousins, not like tenants to abuse and exploit.
One young female tenant sees Gomez treating his wife with the utmost respect and affection and realizes that she’s been making excuses for her awful, obnoxious boyfriend for way too long and that she deserves better
Another tenant is in a same-sex relationship and their homophobic family doesn’t know (the Addams do, and Gomez and Morticia sit their kids down to explain homosexuality to them) “Your father and I love each other very much, and so does your new friend and her lovely girlfriend…”
Another tenant who’s being pushed through a college program they hate by their controlling parents gets the courage to stand up to them and switch majors, confident in the knowledge that if their family isn’t going to accept them as an individual with their own dreams and goals, the Addams family will
i almost even feel like the kids wouldn’t even question it cuz like, it makes as much sense as anything else
two people playing ping pong on the middle of the stairs. are they college students during finals week? are they related to the addams? who knows.
Some days, I really want to write an urban fantasy story set in Toronto. Not out of any love for the city or genre, but because it feels like the most efficient way to warn people that the PATH is a trap set by the fey to ensnare you.
Context for those unfamiliar with Toronto:
PATH is a network of underground pedestrian tunnels connecting the office towers of Downtown Toronto. It is more than 30 kilometres (19 mi) long. According to Guinness World Records, PATH is the largest underground shopping complex in the world with 371,600 square metres (4,000,000 sq ft) of retail space.
The PATH is an unfathomable labyrinth. You go down in hopes of finding a decent cup of cocoa and emerge six blocks later to find that years have passed and all your loved ones have been priced out of their apartments.
mumble’s story is an inherently gay narrative
this is MOST DEFINITELY about the penguin
me: there’s gay subtext in happy feet
christians: you bet your ass there is!!
I MEAN HELLO???
*kracks knuckles* alright, so. This is a perfectly valid headcanon.
However, it’s important not to erase the narrative. This is a story about ableism. Mumbles is the only penguin who can’t sing, and his father thinks that’s because he dropped his egg, which is said to be enough to kill a child.
Mumbles is canonically disabled in both a social and physical way, his coat not changing much from childhood and him being unable to interact with other penguins in a way that’s seen as integral to being a part of the society. He is shown to be almost incapable of containing his feet when he’s happy, pointing towards evidence that dancing is one of his stims.
This is very likely a narrative about autism, though it definitely overlaps with the gay experience.
Mumbles is autistic and gay and nothing you can say will change my mind.
The whole self love thing is good and all but some people can’t fathom being loved. They can’t imagine there being anything good about them. So they can’t simply just stop doing unhealthy things, there’s a process.
Before self love you have to invoke self tolerance and self neutrality.
If you can’t say “I love my body!” say “my body gets me from place to place.”
If you can’t say “I’m beautiful,” begin by shutting down the “I’m ugly” thoughts and saying “I’m a person.”
If you can’t say “I’m valuable” begun by shutting down the “I’m worthless” thoughts and say “all people deserve basic respect, and I’m a person.”
If you can’t say “I’m important,” or “I’m kind” say “I am the one who waters my plant every week” or “I am the one who tips the kind barista down the street” or “I am the one who makes sure my dog does not eat plastic” or “I am the one who leaves long comments on people’s fan fictions.”
so hey fun fact for anyone who wants queer history trivia: the first disco in Seattle was opened in 1973 and was a gay bar called “shelly’s leg” and it was named after a dancer named shelly who lost her leg in a confetti cannon accident and used the insurance/lawsuit settlement money to open a gay disco.
a) This is such a fantastic story that I wouldn’t care if it were made up, except that
b) upon further research, it does appear to be true.
i honestly believe human beings are not meant to live like this. we are meant to live in loving communities and be around nature every day and grow our own food and create art and not work day and night until we die. this longing for another life is not human nature, it’s a symptom of modern society.
Fireproof by One Direction except from a transistor radio in your pocket as you skateboard through the empty streets of a little town on a summer evening. The sunset’s in your eyes and the moquitoes are coming out, but you’re completely free for the next few months. You feel good.

you: ive already heard this one before
me: that is impossible i have over seven bear facts
Change is coming everyone’s way and it may not feel right but it’s time to let some things go
I still think that my favorite urban legend/folklore fact is that there are certain areas in New Orleans where you cannot get a taxi late at night not because it isn’t safe, but because taxi companies have had recurring problems of picking up ghosts in those areas who are not aware that they are dead and disappearing from the cab before reaching the destination and therefore stiffing the driver on the fare causing a loss for the company.
An occupational hazard of cab driving I had not previously considered
whatever. *transcends*
