when people fault yue qi (who was a literal child!!!!) for leaving shen jiu at the qiu estate and then never telling shen jiu about everything that happened when the two were apart…….. you know, the most traumatic years of his life, where he tried too hard to get back to shen jiu and ended up having his bones, tendons, and meridians destroyed and rebuilt…. trapped in the darkness of the ling xi caves for over a year by his shizun…. finally out of the darkness only to find the qiu manor completely burnt down, a plethora of dead bodies burnt to a crisp… the sheer trauma and horror that the realization “I was too late” would bring him….. the subsequent blame he placed on his (teenage!!!! still a child!!!!) shoulders for not returning earlier, despite it being the fault of circumstances entirely out of his control…..

and then, after all that, having his life saved by the one person he was unable to save— and the guilt of knowing that shen jiu put his life on the line to save him (AGAIN— the other time being what landed shen jiu in the qiu manor in the first place!), while he was unable to hurry back to the qiu manor in time because he was stuck recovering from his sword’s soul bond and related wounds…. of course this poor boy wouldn’t be able to say a thing when initially prompted. how could anyone, in these circumstances?

and certainly how could yue qi, who had never known what it felt like to be safe, to be able to express his true feelings (particularly those that implicate shame) without rejection. for over a year, he begged people to listen to him, to let him out of the caves, only to be ignored and invalidated. it wouldn’t be a stretch at all to say that he expected shen jiu to lash out at him and reject him for his failure (in the same way that shen yuan feared luo binghe would lash out at him and hate him for pushing him into the abyss……..)

of course he couldn’t say anything. this child who had never been allowed to be a child, putting the weight of the world on his shoulders and taking on the strongest sword he could find if it meant getting to shen jiu that much faster. this child who then bit off more than he could chew and suffered grave, life-threatening consequences for his actions. this child, who felt guilt when he should have felt anger. anger at qiu jianluo. anger at wu yanzi. anger at his shizun. anger at the slavers. anger at being trapped in the ling xi caves for so long. anger at the fact that he was even allowed to get a spirit sword that young, and anger at the fact that he was not adequately warned of the consequences for reaching too high. unfortunately, the only anger left in his body is directed towards himself.

I think one of the funniest abortion stances I've heard was from my parents neighbor. He's a like, hard-core libertarian viking larper guy who is very tall and very fat and very bald.

He believes a fetus is human with a soul, but also its "basically attacking the woman's body" so if she wants to get rid of it, that's "basically self-defense". He compared it to shooting a home invader. So he supports abortion not as healthcare, but as killing a baby in self-defense

My stepmother did NOT like the way her Libertarian Viking Neighbor framed pregnancy as the fetus "attacking the woman". She incredulously told him this was extremely disrespectful to expectant mothers to portray pregnancy as so violent and negative.

Libertarian Viking Neighbor's response was that people consensually hurt each other all the time, and "there's like a whole community about that, with the acronym the one that starts with a B" And his reasoning was that if the mother was consenting to bring attacked by the baby, it in fact wasn't violent and negative because there was consent.

He brought up people consensually hurting each other, didn't go for one of the obvious answers like boxing or body mods or something, no he went STRAIGHT TO BDSM and he DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE ACRONYM
